    - Using OR Operator in VBA Code - Problem Hey Gang, Back again with another question that has me pulling out the remaining two hairs. I have a bunch of bookmarks that I am searching for in a document and selecting all bookmarks that do not meet that criteria to make subdocuments. All has been working fine, but now I need to do a search for either of two bookmark names and delete the others. I have been trying a couple of variations of OR, but to no avail. The original code for a given bookmark is as follows: For Each MyBook In ActiveDocument.Bookmarks If InStr(1, MyBook.Name, "por_") = 0 Then MyBook.Range.Delete End If Next This looks for sequenced bookmarks that start with "por_" and deletes anything but. I want it to look for both "por_" AND "poi_" and delete anything else. I have tried the following to no avail: 1. For Each MyBook In ActiveDocument.Bookmarks If InStr(1, MyBook.Name, "por_""poi_") = 0 Then MyBook.Range.Delete End If Next 2. For Each MyBook In ActiveDocument.Bookmarks If InStr(1, MyBook.Name, "por_") = 0 OR InStr(1, MyBook.Name, "por_") = 0 Then MyBook.Range.Delete End If Next I have tried a few others that are too embarrassing to post.     - "Always trust macros from this publisher." not available Hi, We delivered a digitally signed Word VBA (Word 10 & 11) application to a client. It was signed using a Verisign certificate and including the "new" Verisign intermediate certificate. It does work on most machine, however on some PCs our client reports, that the option "Always trust macros from this publisher." is grayed out. According to our client the PCs and the user policies should be identical. Any idea, where the problem might be?     - normal.dot takes 27mb memory... I have a problem with a normal.dot that takes 27mb RAM. It contains a lot of code and it has both forms and a menu with templates (from a server).     - Ranges, Finds, and Replacements....oh my!! (please help) Hi All, I am attempting to understand Word Programming, but I have run into a snag on a project I am working on. A little background: I have created a document that contains pre-set tags that users then supply text for. Example: [~TagName~]User supplied information [~AnotherTag~]More information What I have done in my code is move the starting and ending points of the document range to get the tag name and then the tag value. After it finds a match, it moves on, etc... This part is no problem and it works just fine. Certain tag values will have formatting based on what the user types in. So if the user types "My name is Fred", and Fred is in Bold Text 12pt Arial, my ending value has to read "My name is <font face="arial" size="3"><b>Fred</b></font>. My issue has to do with the font names and sizes. My range stays as it should when I apply the <b></b> tags, but for a reason I can't understand, when the font name and/or size find and replace occurs, it blows away the range and formats the entire document all the way to the end. I only need it to format that one tag value though.     - Stuck! Need Help! I have a shell document that I have written a macro for so when the document is opened, the macro runs automatically upon opening. The last part of the macro opens the SaveAs dialog box for the user to save the document to a new name. After the user puts makes their directory choices and a new name, they click save and the document does not save to the new name. The macro simply stops and the shell document remains on the screen. To complicate this even further, if I run this macro from the VBA IDE, it runs and saves perfectly! Can someone please give me some help here? I feel like I've hit a brick wall! Thank you!     - AutoText entries in Global template I have a number of templates where each might require the samer autotext entry. I have, therefore, placed this entry in the autotext collection of my global template (myGlobalTemplate.dot) When I'm in a document attached to a document template I now want to be able to retrieve an autotext entry from the global template. I can see how this could be done if the entry was in the Normal.dot template autotext collection as well as in the attached template. But I cannot see or find a way of placing an autotext located in the global template into the active document which is attached to a document template other than Normal. (...if you see what I mean!) Perhaps someone might ask why don't I place the same autotext entry into each relevant template (eight of them) and then use the AttachedActiveDocument.AttachedTemplate.AutoTextEntries("one").Insert? Well, if my little scheme above cannot be done then I think I might have to resort to that step. It would always be easier to amend one autotext entry than eight of them.     - "Path\File Access" error in a Word macro We are having the following problems with some staff while others have no problem at all. Encountering "Path\File Access" error in a Word macro. The macro is failing on the Kill statement for a document. The user appears to have sufficient access as the document can be deleted manually through Windows Explorer. (I also checked the users' access through security.) From what I can tell, there is no difference between the drive mappings of the people having problems and those who are not.     - Enable/Disable field Hello, In previous versions of Word (I'm using Word 2003 now) I have been able to gray out a field so that users don't need to fill it out depending on what previous options they have chosen. For some reason though, in 2003 when you set the textbox enabled property to false it doesn't gray it out but it also doesn't allow you to input anything in the field.     - Insert PDF image into word doc Trying to find a way to take a pdf file (created from PowerPoint Slide) and insert the image into a Word document using vba. Does anyone know if this is possible from code, I have not found a way to "copy and paste" from pdf, can copy and paste from PowerPoint but I want the user to be able to use pdf format if possible.     - Getting value in dropdown list while 'hovering' I have a combo box on a form. It is fairly narrow box, and frquently not all of the text of a particular entry is visible. (It shows 15 or so characters, generally enough for me to figuer out what the entry is, but not always.) I cannot widen the box. (at least from a practical point of view). When I move my cursor up and down the list of entries (without clicking anything) the entry over which the cursor is hovering turns 'blue.' That suggests that Word (VBA) 'knows' where it is (even without a mouse click). I don't want to click anything at this point. I just want to hover and have VBA help me to decide if that is the proper item, and if not, to the cursor move up or down to the next item. How can I capture that value (without clicking anything) and show it as a controltiptext so that I can see the entire value of the entry? (I tried playing with 'CurLine', but that doesn't work for lists, only textboxes). Seems this should be easy, but I have been playing with this for hours with 0 success. I hope this group can help.     - Excel Charts to Word Pictures Please help! I am trying to copy Excel charts (graphs) as pictures into a Word document. The Excel macro works fine, but the Word macro fails. The Excel macro merely copies the chart and then calls the Word macro to do the pasteing. In the word macro, I can paste the chart into the document, but it pastes it in as an Excel chart. I want to paste it in as a picture. My Excel macro and 3 versions of my Word macro are below. Version A of the Word macro works fine, but copies the entire chart. Version B pastes as a picture, but eliminates all the colors in my chart. Version C doesnâ??t work at all. Can someone suggest a better way to make the macro do what I want it to do?     - How do I get Endnote running through Microsoft word? Hi, I'm tyring to run Endnote 7 through Microsoft Word 2003. EndNoteâ??s installation program is supposed to automatically detect my version of Word and install Cite While You Write support but in my case it is not.     - Very strange occurance with IncludeText Fields I have some dynamic documents which have various IncludeText fields from files built using various scripts. All the IncludeText fields refer to Plain text files.     - Hangin Bookmarks Hello, I am setting a word doc up to print out letters with mail merge. Depending on the value of one of the mail merge fields bookmarked text gets inserted. This is the code I've written: {IF {MERGEFIELD "MAILCELL"} = "1H" "{INCLUDETEXT C:\CELL.DOC CELL_1G2G}" ""} {IF {MERGEFIELD "MAILCELL"} = "2H" "{INCLUDETEXT C:\CELL.DOC CELL_5F}" ""} and so on. The code works well, but sometimes there will be two bookmarks generated. For instace the text for 1H will be at the end of the text for 2H when the value is 2H. Any ideas? Could it be realted to the values starting with numbers (just a thought seems to be some kind of correlation with bookmarks and values causing problems when they start with numbers)? Thank you.     - SaveAs Dialog and filename verification I have a document I need users to fill in using a custom form. When they click the Save button on the form the SaveAs dialog box appears. What I need/would like is to verify the user changes the name of the document (so they don't overwrite the original).     - lock only certain fields Hi, What I'm trying to achieve is the following: I have a word document which has some form fields and merge fields. I am using a VBScript to merge data automatically to these merge fields and I'd like the user to fill in the additional form fields and/or modify the merged fields. When I lock the form, the form fields could be filled without problems however the merge fields cannot be modified.     - user complaints wtih using locked template We have a template with several text form fields that are set to an unlimited length. The template is set on locked, and for the most part the template functions as needed. The biggest complaint received from users is how Word has disabled so many necessary functions with locked forms, bolding, page breaks, etc. When a user wants to bold a section of text in a text form field for example, they have to highlight the selected text, click unlock, bold, then click lock. After they click lock, Word is highlighting the entire text form field. Is there a way to keep this from happening? Also it is not placing the cursor at the point where you left off. Which can be very cumersome especially in a large text form field. Also, is there a way to create maybe a custom toolbar with the functions we see as necessary, ex bold, spell check, etc. and have it be enabled with the template in locked position?     - Question about next level up from Self-cert I played with SelfCert, but then found out that my company has put a company certificate in the trusted directory on each PC at our company. How do I create a (personal?) certificate based on that RCA instead of the one that selfcert uses? My assumption is that if I can create a certificate off the company RCA, then users should get the macro warning box even under high macro security, and be able to add my as a trusted source so they don't get macro warnings from me anymore. And just to make sure I understand what I'm looking at, how to I make sure the company certificate is an RCA, and not just a company "user" certificate that they actually purchased from a third-party organization like Verisign?     - Change in ALT-F4 / X-close event handle in Word2003 ? We have an application where we use Word (through automation) for editing text. Macros in a template file (DOT-file) controls the saving of the edited document in a database. In Word97, Word2000 and Word2002 the system handles the situation where the user has made changes to the document and presses either the X (upper right hand corner of the application) or selects the Close menu entry from the system menu entry (also available through the short-cut ALT-F4). We have taken control of the 'closing of the application/document' and in these situations, the user is presented a dialog where he is requested to confirm if the changes should be saved. This is coded in the Document OnClose event. In Word2003 this does not work. When the Document OnClose event is 'fired' the document's Saved property is True - even if the content is changed. We are using the same DOT-file in the two environments (identical code), and the application code (MFC) controlling Word through automation is also the same (identical). Does anyone know if there has been a change in the way events / Saved property is handles in Word2003. Any help is appreciated.     - WordBasic Although a proficient Word user I'm new to WordBasic. Here's what I need - is it unrealistic? - and can you direct me to a more appropriate site if necessary. 1. An autoopen macro which will unprotect the form, then select a section, then add it to the AutoText entry list with a name, then protect the form again. 2. On clicking a command button - for it to unprotect the document again, then go to an existing bookmark, insert the said autotext entry, and then reprotect the document. Will be glad of help please.     - Sort I want to sort my Outlook Contacts list so I can insert the address, name, ect into a Word 2003 template using a list box. When you open up the outlook contacts it opens up immediatly and is sorted. How can I get a word VBA macro to open and sort the list box as fast as the outlook contacts.     - Getting program to work with Word already open... I have a situation. I have a Word VBA program that I am running but can't figure out how to make it work when there is already another Word document open. The userform itself will pop up but when it's supposed to transfer all the information over to a template it just sits there and does nothing.     - Toolbars I've got some weird things going on with a toolbar that I built in a word document. For some reason the toolbar is being displayed many times when the document opens up. Yet to my knowledge the macro which builds the toolbar is not being executed. If I right click in the toolbar space at the top of Word (where you can see the list of all toolbars) I can see a dozen or so instances of the toolbar. If I go to the bottom of the list and click "Customize" I can delete all instances of the toolbar and they then do not display. But the next time I go to open up the Word document all instances of the toolbar again are displayed. It's got me stumped. It seems that the toolbar is saved with the word application and not the document as when the document is not open, I still see the toolbar. Is there a way to have the toolbar stored with the document and not with the Word application? Where/how is the toolbar stored? Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks all.     - Script to Capture Data in Document Greetings - Let me say first that at best I consider myself an intermediate user of MS Office tools and that I am willing to try and learn anything. I am composing a large document ion Word that requires a list of acronyms, which are used in the document, to be added at the end. I am not much of a programmer, but wonder if a script/macro (VBA?) could be written and manually executed when complete with the document, via a tool bar button from the template, to scan the document checking for items that have either 3 or 4 uppercase characters enclosed within parentheses. i.e., "(COTS)" It would then check and capture the 3 or 4 words (which are Title Cap'd) prior to the open parens and copy it adjacent to the acronym in the table. i.e., "We use Commercial off-the-Shelf (COTS) applications." After capturing the data, the macro would list all items in a table and sort. i.e., "COTS - Commercial off-the-Shelf" The idea here is to eliminate the need for an editor or author to continually build a list of items used in the document and to ensure only items which are used are recorded in the subsequent table. You may want to look into using a userform instead. If you have more than a
few ASK questions for the users, they get really cumbersome to manage and to
use.

I agree that you should look into a UserForm. Also consider what Word calls
an "online form." Check this in help. For more about online forms, follow
