 - Disappearing bookmarks Hi anyone, I'm looking for a straightforward way if setting values in bookmarks without them disappearing. (Users of my work will then not be able to utilize the bookmarks that I've populated) This worked with DDE, but I want to use OLE. This is how I do it.  - Cell contents swapping Hi All We have a macro that allows the user to swap the text in two adjacent cells in a table ... works great. Now we are looking to use formfields rather than plain text, we have tried to ammend the macro to swap the formfield but get an error, any suggestions on swappings formfields, or even better, the entire contents of a cell whether it be formfield or text or img ?  - Status of word document / WordMail, Outlook 2000 Hello, I'm trying to automate Outlook by writing an Office Addin. Things work pretty well until I test the case where the user is using Word as their email editor. In this case, certain events and objects are not available. (See MS KB 218298). The biggest problem I'm facing is when using Outlook 2000. As noted in the MS KB, the NewInspector event does not fire when Word is used as the editor under Outlook 2000. I decided to make the Addin work with Word as well as Outlook. I'm trying to setup my behaviour at the equivalent time of when the NewInspector event fires. I registered for *all* the event in the Word Application object. The Word events that got called when the user clicks the New Mail Message button are: - WindowActivate - WindowSelectionChange - WindowSize - DocumentChange Of course these events are called at various times other than when the New Mail Message button is clicked. I can filter out the times when Word is not acting as WordMail (thanks to MS KB 237338) but I'm having trouble determining when any of these events are occuring because a New Mail Message window is opening. I thought if I could query the status of something in the Word document (or some Word property), I could insert my desired addin behaviour only when needed.  - Select and copy from a attached template Hi I have a template with refernce to another template which contains different sections. I want to select one of teh secions, copy and paste it in to the document based on the first template. I attache the second template with " Set vbProj = ActiveDocument.VBProject vbProj.References.AddFromFile "C:\Mallar\Samlingsmall.dot"" in an autonewmacro.  - buttons on forms Macrobuttons seem tricky to trigger - double click can be too slow. Is it possible to 'hold the focus' unless the user clicks elsewhere of course? Command buttons look good and should be easy for the user - they work on the template. They work from a 'new document' using the template but if I save a 'blank form' document on the desktop the command button won't work????? Why not?  - Save document according to file in certain location Hi. I am trying to develop a macro for a user who wants to have a macro that automatically merges an access file with a letter shell. After it has finished merging, she then wants each letter printed and saved in separate files. She also wants each letter to be saved according to a project number, which is located in the final merged document. I assume she may have anywhere from 5 to 50 letters that need to be printed, divided and saved. I need the macro to move to the location of the project number in the document, choose extend:=wdExtend, and then do a save as, or something like that. Essentially, I need the letters split into individual letters, printed, and saved according to this project number.  - Disappearing variable I have an AutoExec macro that obtains the name of the provider who will be using the terminal. The name is stored in a public variable called "provider" and it is entered into a note via other macros. Problem: after a few times the variable is applied to documents and printed, the variable gets "empty" and no longer keeps the provider's name. I'm using Word 2002 Any help will be appreciated.  - Images and Text disappears during print preview You can see the images and text while in the document. When you go to print preview you can not see the image and some of the text is missing. Then, when you go back to the document, the image is gone from there now. The only way to get it back is to close the document and reopen. Also, the image will not print. We are running Office 2000 with all updates on a Windows 2000 Professional system with SP4 and all the Windows updates. It seems these issues started with the installation of SP4 for Windows, however we can not remove SP4 because we did not choose archieve files during the installation. Any suggestions?  - Resetting PrinttoFile option i have a macro which first checks the user's default printer and stores it in a variable then the macro selects a postscript printer where the option Print to File is checked. the macro runs correctly, creates a *.prn file, restores the users default printer but the only thing i cannot get it to do is to reset the Print to File option back to being unchecked!! there is a "PrintToFile" argument listed in the wdDialogFilePrint dialog box but it doesn't seem to work unless i send something to print which i don't want to do. does anybody have any ideas?  - Access two printers at the same time Hello I would like to print to two printers from the one word document. The first will be the main document that will be a mailout which will print on a laser printer, the second part will be an address label printed on a dedicated label printer (continuous roll). This can be done by changing default printers each time I print either the letter or the address label, however is it possible to perform the task with one action if there are bulk letters to be printed?  - Word 2002 A box, the size of the header/footer dialog box, frequently shows over my text document. The box can start out plain but it will capture the help menu or anything else that overlays it, including the header/footer dialog box. It refuses to be selected or deleted.  - Baffling Find Count Problem I'm trying to count the number of occurences in a given selection of a given word through VBA. Modifying the code on the Word MVP FAQ to do so, I have the following function: Function CountOccurences(strSearch As String, Optional WildCardSwitch As Boolean = True) As Integer ' Counts number of times passed string occurs in selection Dim iCount As Integer ' Initialize counter iCount = 0 With Selection.Find .Text = strSearch .Format = False .Forward = True .Wrap = wdFindStop .MatchWildcards = WildCardSwitch Do While .Execute iCount = iCount + 1 Loop End With CountOccurences = iCount End Function Pretty straight forward. However, the problem comes when I'm trying to count the occurences of a word only in a selected range... the ranges are broken apart by tags (like SGML). When the first range is selected, CountOccurences() looks for not only the occurences of the word in the given range, but all the way through to the end of the document. When the second range is selected, CountOccurences(), the same thing happens, but the first range is ignored. Likewise for the third, fourth, etc. so that only the last range gives the appropriate count. The ranges are laid out sequentially in the document. The call to CountOccurences() is being made in this code: ' Where CurrentTable is a Range variable CurrentTable.Select intStepCount = CountOccurences("\<tsstep\>*\<\/tsstep\>") This is driving me totally batty.  - Problem inserting string into Text Form Field I am taking Text Field values from an Outlook Form and inserting them into a Text Form Field in a Word Doc. When I try to insert a Description from the Outlook form into a Text Form field in Word I am getting the error, "Run-time error '4609'; String to long". Properties on the Text form field are max len:unlimited and the Description string is not even close to 32,767. Type is Regular Text. My question is why is this happening?  - Replace Word's Error Message I have 2 dot files that load from the startup path. Both contain macros. One file needs to call a macro from the other file. I have this part working fine. What I want is if the user runs the macro that calls the macro from the other file to have a custom error message that says file x is missing and must be loaded in the startup path. I've tried creating my own message using the "on error goto" statement but it isn't working. Word keeps kicking up its message "compile error in hidden module". The first column is a description of an item and columns B, C, D and E contain check boxes. The last row of the table is supposed to give the total number of "true" check boxes for each column.  - Strange field action in protected document We have developed a protected 'form' document that contains what is basically a description of changes to a test web site that need to be reviewed. The document is structured with indentation and font styles to highlight information. The original document, as prepared by the web site team, contains embedded HYPERLINK fields to provide direct access to the test site. In order to tuen this into a form, we replace a special character sequence into a drop-down with an edit fiedd to permit the user to indicate whether the change is approved or rejected and, if rejected, to explain the reasons. The HYPERLINKS are embedded within a MacroButton field to permit them to be invoked from within the protected form. An example is shown below. { MacroButton "FollowLink"{ HYPERLINK http://a.b.c.d/TestSite/Page.html } } Of course, the file also contains a macro named FollowLink that contains the code Selection.Hyperlinks(1).Follow Normally, this type of field is the first thing on a line of a list with special bullet characters and there is text after the field. In most cases these fields work just fine, simply requiring that the user double-click on the field to cause the specified web page to be displayed in a browser. In one case, however, simply clicking once causes the page to move so that the selected field is in the top 1/3 of the page. Once it is there, double-clicking will then work. As long as that field is in the top 1/3 of the page, this behavior is not exhibited. There are also some of these fields at the end of the document that cause the docuemnt to scroll to a location near the top of the document (I believe that the first drop-down field is being selected) when they are clicked. Since the document is several pages long, this makes it impossible to double-click on these fields. The only thing different about these fields that I can see is that there is no text after them; but even if I add some text they behave the same way. All of the other fields so defined behave as expected. They do not reposition the visible portion of the document and a double-click functions properly. It reads values from various defined Names of the workbook to populate the form fields. The user can then change the values and on pressing 'OK' button the values should be validated and if appropriate re-copied back into the cells referenced by the Names.  - Font change not recorded in Word 2002 I am just beginning to relearn VBA. The book that I am using suggests recording a macro that changes selected text to Aril, 12 point bold. When I record the macro with Word 2002, it has not picked up the fontname change from the font list, nor the point size change from the drop-down list. it is possible to delete directories without any "security question" - Do
you relly want to.....

We have accidentally deleted two to three directories in this way. Does
anyone know about this problem. Is there a choice in the setup system to
disable this or do anyone know about a fix (VBA or other) to disable it?

There is a Windows setting for this, but Word seems to ignore it. Yes, it's
