    - How to Add Hyperlink to Protected Word Form Not sure if this is possible but I have a protected Word form where I need the following to happen: I have a checkbox where if it is unchecked then TextBox1 should be "N/A". However if the checkbox is clicked, I need Textbox1 to populate with Null, and Textbox2 to populate with a hyperlink. Anyone have any ideas how to do this?     - Clean Up for Merge Code Dear All, I have a template that is creating a new document using data from an access query that is merged into a Word template. All Office 2003 apps on Win2K and XP pro workstations. The document is created -- but there is also an additional "Document 1" that is created every time that has to be deleted -- a copy of the template with no data in it. If anyone can point out how I can eliminate that extra clutter, I would appreciate it. Additionally, my code is messy, since a lot of it was generated by recording. I'd appreciate gentle recommendations for cleaning it up.     - Identifying Pictures and Drawing Objects I've done some work with a template that shows and hides graphic images -- allowing a user to fax a document (show image of logo) or print the document on letterhead (hiding image of logo). I found that the picures came in as "Picture 11" and "Picture 22" and so on. I was able to identify them by using the recorder and selecting them and then looking at the code.     - PrivateProfileString I have been using this method to store user defaults for client templates. In probably 8 years I've never had a problem with it. Now, I've had two testers run into problems where the .ini file doesn't seem to be storing, or if it does, it's not where I expect it to be. Since the client is in another city, I can't just sit at their PCs and figure out what's going on, so wonder if anyone here might have experienced any problems with this method. Word 2003.     - Strange toolbar behavior I have several toolbars with macros assigned to them. Two macros, for no apparent reason I can figure, rearranges the toolbars when I run them. The macros themsleves don't appear to have anything in them that would affect toolbar positions. They are both used to convert fill-in form fields to plain text -- one does the whole document, the other just does whatever is selected. When either macro runs, it moves two of the custom toolbars from one location to another. One toolbar has these macro assigned to it, the other is a custom toolbar with other macros, but not these particular ones. None of the other macros move toolbars around. The macros appears below, for what it's worth. Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this?     - Replacing Bookmark Text - Userforms (FYI - I posted this on the beginners, general, and userforms boards.) I have created a template where I created a userform with 2 "fields" (ProjectName and TaskName). Each field corresponds w/a bookmark. I'm using REF commands to link/repeat the bookmarks in the footer of the report. It is all working well except that the data that is input through the userform is getting added to the (default) bookmark text instead of replacing it. I found a MVP document that gives me a general idea of what I need to do (set a bookmark range variable) {MVP Doc: Inserting text at a bookmark without deleting the bookmark}. It includes a subroutine when using a macros/userform, but I'm not sure where to put it. Can anyone help me with this??? THANK YOU!     - Duplex Printing In Word Greetings, I found a macro that is suppose to manually print duplex for printers that don't have the duplex option. The code is suppose to print the current page in the active document, open a messagebox so the user can manually flip the page, and then print the second (or even) page after the user presses ok. The macro does print, but only after the code finishes running. For some reason, it only spools the the first print current page command, and then prints it when the code finishes running.     - Access Database Update I have an Access database which contains information for a form. I use the database for merging with a Word template which is then sent out to customers via email. I also have text form fields for the customer to fill out in response to the original information. These transactions happen 5 or 6 times a day and cutting and pasting just doesn't cut it since the returned information is lengthy. Everything is working beautifully, except I don't have an easy way to import the data from the text form field back into the database. I would like the returned form to be able to be attached to the Access database much the same way that it works the other way around. Is that possible? The users of this system need a button to be able to do this. If I got hit by a gasoline tanker tomorrow, they wouldn't have a clue as to what to do with the returned info from the Word form.     - DocumentBeforeClose problems Hello, The DocumentBeforeClose event gives me grief. The problem is that I have to perform a certain cleanup operation when a = document is closed. Unfortunately, DocumentBeforeClose is called before the user is = presented with the "Document changed, do you want to save?" dialog, = which can cancel the close.     - Remembering document-specific window position Certain of my editing tasks involve having multiple open docs in Word. Given limited screen real estate, I carefully size the windows before setting to work, which is a pain. I'd like to write up or find a macro that would, on a document-by-document basis (very important), save the window size/position for that particular document on closing, then, on reopening, have Word get the window properties from the individual doc template or information and restore to the saved position. Ideally, I'd load this in Normal.dot and invoke it with a keystroke combo as an alternative way to close docs. Is there a way to do this? I've searched high and low, but can't find anything on how to do it with VBA (I'm in Word 2002 on WinXP, with VB 6.3). I know it's possible because so many apps do it (including WordPerfect back in the day when I used it), but I don't know if it's doable in VBA. The only thing I find in online VBA resources is discussion of saving the /application/'s main window position and writing to the registry to do so -- but that's not what I'm seeking. Any ideas?     - Real and curious problems with vba office2000 et office2003 on a computer Since some days, I have some problems with VBA (with Access as well as Word). All these problems exist in Office 2000 as well as in 2003 Some VBA functions do not vork anymore. ========================================================== So the function 'Kill' is completly unefficient. I mean that 'Kill' doesn't kill files, but, worse, give no error message if I ask to 'Kill' a file which does not exists (for example with a bad path). Just the program quit the function where is the line without executing the lines after. There is no error treatment un function. At this point I insert a new section and which I have to remove the header and footer linking to the previous section. I create a temporary bookmark, add a page break, unlink the primary and even headers and footers, remove the bookmark and then the page break. Everything works as it should and there is no problem. However, below is the code which does all the unlinking and I just wanted to say the same thing but with a little more elegance and finesse.     - Macro Style Replace Word2000. I record a macro to SearchAndReplace a custom style. During the recording, the SearchAndReplace works fine. When running the macro, it doesn't work. Calling up the SearchAndReplace dialog box shows why: instead of searching for the stylename, it search for a stylename plus border attributes plus other things. In some cases the strings do not match when they should. The issue is that use of Stylized Quotes. One string may use a slightly different version of a single quote causing the string comparison function to fail. I would like to convert all single quotes to a simple quote for comparing. Userform-1 has to know which command button(s) were pressed in Userform-2. Arguments are "passed" between the forms by property statements. Userform-2 sets properties in Userform-1 by using the CallByName statement. Userform-1 object and property names set in Userform-2 via property statements. Has anybody had any problems using the above described scenario? That is, are there problems using property statements in Userforms and using the CallByName statement?     - Help on Excel-Word project I have to take an excel spreadsheet that has contact info and a brief bio and format them in a word document. The columns in the spreadsheet are lastname, firstname, address1, address2, city, state, zip, phone, email, bio, awards (among others) I would like to selectively place these into the word document like this: lastname, firstname address1 [address2] (if non-blank) city, state, zip [phone] (if ok to release) [email] (if ok to release) bio awards I don't want the blank lines to show if it's not anything in it, or if they've not authorized us to release the info.     - cut and paste Russian text to other application I need to cut and paste the Russian text from Word document to Quark. When people sent it to me, the characters display as emty squares (extension as ".doc". I open up the document and resave it as ".RTF". I can see the characters then, no problem with cut and paste the same text within Word. The problem happens when I try to paste the same string of this text to another application, like Quark. They are underscores. I select them and change the fonts, nothing happends, or only one or two characters appear. The fonts I try are anything with Cyrillic. I notice that there are couple options as I paste the text in Word: paste with unformat, paste with format, and one last one I can't remember. I try many differnt ways, and a few words come up. What do I have to set up my computer? fonts? anything ... in order to always have this success everytime. I just purchase Word 2004, and in the OS X system. It seems like the system is current enough to handle. I used to have to copy and paste every character I found to create a string of text (very painfull), but now the work load are much bigger, I can't afford to do the same thing. What are the problem? I also have two key documents that both make reference to the macros and tool bar in the .dot One document works fine and a click on the tool bar gives an instantaneous result while the other document needs many clicks before the macro works and then it takes ages. Sometimes, I need to click in the document as well for the macro to work and the message 'document not responding' is displayed while the hourglass icon is running. I work in Reflection for IBM (sessions) and Office 2000, soon to be Office 2003. I need to get a list of ICN's (example 0204123456090) out of a stats table located on our intranet. Those ICN's, (claim numbers) need pasted onto a list fetch screen. This screen allows 1 to 100 claim numbers to be keyed onto the screen so they can be retrieved for processing. I have already made the macro to extract the numbers from the table on our intranet and then displays the numbers in a column like; 0204123456000 0204123456060 in a work document. I can't figure out how to make the macro paste this list of numbers by inserting tabs in them. The screen that they will be posted to has the following format; 02 04123 456 000 02 04123 456 060 This is what the screen looks like 00 02 04123 456 000 01 02 04123 456 060 02 02 04123 457 780 it has 00...99 to indicate how many ICN's are pasted.
