 - Possible to base an event/procedure/routine off of mailmerge action? Ok so you know the If...Then...Else word field option right? Well I need to take this a step further. Instead of basing a line or two of next on the value of a data field, I have to base the entire back side of a duplex document on the value of an account number data field. Any possibilities? Also, there are actually seven possible instances backers based on that account number, so even if I was only adding a few lines of text, if...then...else would work unless i used multiple instances because it only really allows boolean results...rrr...that is either <possibility 1> OR <possibility 2>.  - Why is my template crashing Word? I'm using Word XP and the following code crashes word the first time I open a new document with after I click the CommandButton1.  - SWEN worm Since the day the SWEN worm appeared I've been being inundated with it at the office while having no problem at home. No one else in my company has been getting it. In analyzing what I do differently from everyone else I've e-mailed the people I deal with by e-mail to warn them that they might have it and now I'm posting this message to every newsgroup I use at work (Mostly VB and VBA groups.) to plead with the users to patch their systems, get or update antivirus software (there are free ones available) and go to your favorite security web site to search for a removal tool for this pernicious worm. It's gotten so bad that my e-mail box fills up over the weekend to the point of me not receiving legitimate e-mail because my storage limit has been exceeded because of the size of the attachment that is the SWEN worm.  - Anyone who knows anything about "Subclassing" and "Hooking" Can anyone tell me more information about "Subclassing" or "Cross-Process Subclassing" and "Hooking" please? From what I understand it can be used for intercepting Windows Messages by getting into the message queue, which is exactly what I need to do. I need to use it in VBA to stop a "Do you want to save?" question appear when I close an IE window that has a Word 2000 document automated into it. (That is, it's opened the Word Document in IE with all the standard Word buttons/menus etc.) Could anybody help with this at all?  - Enable Formfield Checkbox using VBA Can you tell me how to enable a formfield checkbox using VBA. I know I can select the checkbox by assiging it to a bookmark, but I can't figure out how to enable the checkbox. What I've got is two checkboxes.  - Formatting mail merge entry I am designing a form in Word which merges data from an Access database. One of the fields in Access is a phone number. The data is entered 5556667777 which then appears as (555) 666- 7777 in the Access databse. When I bring in that field into Word (using Mail Merge) it shows up as 5556667777.  - Authorize one document's AutoOpen macro? I have a document (Word 2000) with an AutoOpen macro. The idea is to set my Task Scheduler to open this document after work hours and have the macro run some stuff during the night. The problem is the macro warning. I understand that I would have to set security low to stop this, and I know that's not necessarily a good idea. I also understand that you can't use VBA code to enable macros. But is there any way to set some kind of authorization on this one document or macro that will not trigger the warning? Is there a setting within the VBA modules that "if you see this, this macro is okay?" Otherwise, the document opens, and I come in to work the next morning to a macro warning on my screen!  - Bug when using copy paste on ActiveX controls in WordXP Ok, try the following: In an empty document insert an ActiveX control for example Microsoft Office Chart 10.0. Make sure the object is inserted as Inline With text. Click to the right of the control. Copy the entire document, ctrl-a,ctrl-c. Now open a new document and paste the ActiveX control on three seperate pages. When done click on the second ActiveX control, should be on page 2. Now scroll down to the end of the document without using the keyboard. Finally click the big X to shutdown Word. Word now crashes. Any solution or workaround to this problem? Since we are writing a program that creates large reports by copy pasting pages from a document template into a new document this crash really is a BIG problem for us.  - VBA Code for a Word Properties Userform About two years ago, I posted a request on this group asking for help creating the VBA code used on a userform to check and create custom word properties. The nice people at MVP provided me with the following; the code looks at the textbox name then compares it with the custom properties of the document. If a property with the same name exists then it modifies the property with the contents of the textbox.  - Automatic email from word Hi I am trying to write a macro to automatically send out remittances to our clients when we have made a payment to them. The document is a new document that we create from Crystal Reports. At the moment we are creating an HTML and sending that out as an attachment. This is very time consuming as I have to manually lookup email address (Which is on the remittance advice) and the copy and paste text of email message in. I have tried writing a remittance for this but I cannot find a way of copying the email address from the remittance to the ‘send to’ field in Outlook. Is there a way I can do this. Whenever I click on the the "New Blank Document" icon in Word I get the following error - "Compile error in hidden module: FileNew". This prevents me from launching a new blank document within a current document. My only option is to launch Word separately if I want another blank document which is very frustrating. I am not getting expected responses when displaying and/or updating the InsertCrossReference dialog. I've used these methods successfully with other dialogs (e.g., FileOpen), but they're not working here. I have tried variations on this theme, the objective being to populate the dialog with default preferences and trying to capture the reference item: With Dialogs(wdDialogInsertCrossReference) .InsertAsHyperlink = True .ReferenceType = wdCaptionFigure 'also tried = "Figure" .ReferenceKind = wdOnlyLabelAndNumber ' also tried = 8 .Update .Display myVariable = .ReferenceItem End With My results have been consistently baffling with this particular dialog: - If I click the Insert button in the dialog, it DOES execute the action to insert the cross-reference despite the fact that the Display method shouldn't do this. I've tried "If .Display <> 0 Then..." statements, but the action is still executed. - Whether or not I specify any default values, the dialog is displayed with Numbered Items as the type and Page Number as the kind. If one displays the dialog manually, the values will _always_ be how you left them (e.g., type is Figure), but _never_ are when the dialog is displayed (or shown) programmatically. - Reference item is always returned as null. I can return the kind or type (whether I set them before displaying the dialog or set them manually in the dialog), but cannot return the type. - If I omit the Update command, then the InsertAsHyperlink value is checked but grayed when the dialog is displayed and the item is inserted as a hyperlink. If I use the Update method then the InsertAsHyperlink displays as false (contrary to my request). Odd, but at least I can work with it. If you believe the help file, when using the Display method with built-in dialogs, "Any actions initiated or settings specified while a dialog box is displayed using this method aren't carried out." The help also states that I should be able to "Use the Update method to ensure that the dialog box values reflect the current values."  - Find Next across Multiple Files Macro Any macro gurus out there? What I'm hoping to accomplish is to have a simple macro that takes a directory and recurses through each subdirectory looking for the occurrences of a specific word in each Word document. It should basically have the Find Next functionality except that when it hits the end of one file, it proceeds to the next. I have written a macro that searches through all files and reports back all files that contain a given string. It is cutting off about 6 lines from the excel spreadsheet in the word document. There is ample room for the rest of the spreadsheet to be displayed. I am getting the menus for the .WLL but they are not functioning. If I prevent the .DOT files from loading at startup and then load the .WLL I have no problems. With ActiveDocument .UpdateStylesOnOpen = True .AttachedTemplate = "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\style.dot" however, i need to copy the autotext across too. parent. If not doc then parent again until you get the doc obj, then
look at .name
