    - VB project being modified implicitly I have a signed VB project which is somehow being modified and thus the signature is being discarded. I know the users aren't modifying the code through the VBIDE and my project doesn't use VBE to modify itself, so what other actions could mark a VB project as 'dirty'? I know with excel removing worksheets has this affect but is there anything similar in Word? Not that I think I'm doing like that. My best guess is it's something to do with one of my forms but all you can really do with forms is set properties, so again I can't think where the problem might be occurring.     - Modifying built in document properties using an excel macro I am having an interesting problem while trying to set the built in document properties of a word file using an excel macro. I am picking the values from an excel sheet and trying to set the values for each .doc file in a folder one by one. The following code runs perfect the first time and sets the new values for all built in properties for all the word files in the "C:\Test" folder. But when i run the code a second time with new values, it executes without any error but doesn't set the new values (the doc files have the old values itself). Can someone help please? Urgent....     - Formfields vs. Userform Controls embedded in document? Still learning ... What are the relative advantages and disadvantages of embedding MS-Word Formfields into the document or 'regular' MS-Forms controls? I had successfully used Radiobuttons in a Word document, even tried a DateTimePicker 8didn'tr look nice on printed paper...), which are Userform controls, and now -- thru the hint by Doug Robbins to the "Fill out that form" articles by Dian D. Chapman -- learned of the Formfield objects. I just note that -- at least in Office 2000 -- there are no Radiobuttons available as Formfields.     - Copying an Excel ChartObject into a Word Template - how to? I have a VB6 application that creates a Word document by pasting text from a database into different places in the document by means of bookmarks in a template. My newest challenge is to insert 2 Graphs from Excel into the end of the Word document. Here are my problems: 1) Is there a paste option to make the graph be scaled to the size of the printed sheet? Currently, when I paste it, the graph is huge and I have to manually resize it in the Excel file before copy/pasting it into Word. This leads to my next challenge 2) Simply setting the .Width and .Height attribute of the chart object for the graph doesn't appear to cut it. That appears to just control the space the graph has to draw in. The bars get cramped and the legend doesn't scale at all, getting cut off in the smaller graph. What is the best way to resize a Graph in Excel? 3) When I paste the graph into the Word document, the graph always gets inserted at the top of the document, even though I'm using bookmarks located at the end of the document when I paste. What is the best way to control the location of a graph inserted into a Word Document? Here is the code that I currently use to perform the resize/copy/paste. I use locally-scoped constants for the width and height of the target graph size.     - Microsoft Word Form: Save Form, Not Controls or Macros Hello, I have a Word template that consists of a 2 pages worth of form fields, and 1 page that has the controls used to fill in the form. The arrangement works well enough, and allows the user to edit the form manually if the source data is incorrect. I've even figured out how to save the last 2 pages of the document to a file without the controls. However, I'm having a problem saving the form without the VBA code being included. I don't want my users getting confused by the "Macros anybody?" dialog popping up everytime a completed form is open.     - Select Table window interrupts macro Hi, I am automating a mailmerge from a datasheet in excel to a word document. The user enters data into the excel spreadsheet and then uses a userform to activate the mailmerge process. my code is interrupted when the Word main document is opened and the datasource is being defined. Word pops up a window called "Select Table" which (surprise surprise) allows you to select which worksheet the data is on in the excel workbook. I can't figure out how to automate this selection... I want to be selecting "sheet1"... and it's the only sheet in the workbook so I don't understand why it doesn't just select it automatically. I won't post all the code at the moment cause I don't think it's entirely relevant to the problem, but if anyone wants it then I would be happy to. Here is the part that seems to be relevant.     - Macro to change linked object source file I have an word document with 84 inline linked objects from an excel file. I need to be able to run a macro that will change the source file of all the linked objects. My solution was as follows but has two issues. Changing the source name does not change the item section, so charts give an error. 2. Four of my linked items are in a header. I have no idea how to access those objects. when i do a ?thisdocument.inlineshapes.count, in the immediate window, it returns 80.... but i have 84 linked objects. I also tried the above code using fields instead of inlineshapes.. no luck. I'm using Word 2002 and excel 2003 Any help would be gretaly appreciated.     - data validation Hello, I'm designing a questionnaire for a friend as was wondering if you can help me. It is an electronic questionnaire. I was wondering if i could have general tips about data validation i.e. how to make the software robust so that people cannot mess it up. for example, i ask someones age in years and i dont want them entering text, what is the validation for that? How do i validate 'checkboxes', i have about 5 checkboxes within a question and if any of them are not ticked i would like an error message of some kind. The thing is i'm new to programming so you'l need to simplify everything for me. IF the bookmark "LTXT" is just a position within the document then the macro will happily re-run - BUT it doesn't replace text (it just pushes it down the document, which is not acceptable). However, I also need to do this when my machine is "logged-off"; neither early nor late binding is working -- the primary data file becomes "locked for editing" by the network.     - Troubleshooting Excel in Word I've created a couple of documents with Excel spreasheets inserted in either/or Word Table Cells or in Text Boxes. On several occassions in the past several weeks since I've created these documents/forms, several of the Excel Spreadsheets have appeared to have changed, on their own, to a picture. The reason I've inserted the Excel spreadsheets into the Word Docs instead of doing it all in Tables is because of the various formulas that can come into play. But I need the versatility of spacing around on the page that I can get with Word that is not available in Excel, on it's own.     - Formatting special characters within a module for a Word Mail merge. All, I am having problems with a field that I am exporting to a Microsoft Word Mail merge. Basically the gist of the module is it loops through a database table and finds all residents who live at a specific address and then exports each name, that it encounters to a string ie: [name] vbCrLf [Name] vbCrLf {etc}, (you can find the code below). So far so good . However I am encountering a problem once the field is formatted in Word using align center, the first name in the spring is justified right, and each successive names in the string are justified center.     - Insert String Based on Combo Box Result Newbie alert! I've got 2 form fields: Dropdown1 & Text1. I want to populate Text1 based on what the user selects in the Dropdown1 field. The text is loaded in 8 strings, myText1, myText2... myText8. So if the user selects "1" from the dropdown, Text1 is populated by the value of the myText1 string, if the user selects "2", populate Text1 with the value of myText2 string, etc. I'm trying to avoid using 8 different If...Then statementrs by using a For...Next loop.     - Using VBA to SUM 3 columns in a Word Table I have a Word Table in my Active Document that I'd like to SUM using a cmdCalculateTotal button on a form. Can somone please tell me how to approach this -- for example -- how would I write the VBA code to calculate Cells C3:C16 of the table? The Range of the calculated area is subject to change (depending on the choices the user makes (selecting checkboxes and radio buttons), so it seems that I would need to calculate the range of the column (after all selections have been made, and ADD a Summary Row to the table to calculate the values. I'm just not sure the easiest way to approach this NOTE: I'm trying to approach this project in blocks -- I'm still working on the issue of getting the table values (selected by the user) to populate in the Active Document -- I'm close, but not there yet -- Summing the values would be the next step. Headings (which shall *not* get a marker) are numbered 1., 1.1, 1.2, 2., 3., 3.1, 3.2, 3.2.1, 3.2.2, 3.3, 4. etc. There are probably no numbers >99 in Headings (so no three-digit numbers between periods in heading numbering), but at the beginning of paragraphs there may be numbers that have (a) periods as thousands separators, as these are German documents and (b) dates, which are written "xx.xx.xxxx" here, with or without spaces. both kinds of numbers should be treated like all other non-heading numbers (put a marker before the first digit at the beginning of the paragraph). I can't use paragraph styles for identification, because they're not reliably there. All this should be done by a macro. I'd like to be able to format (bold) one of the entries as it is inserted in the document. I've tried tbNAME.font.bold=true and it accepts the statement but it has no effect on the output.     - problem with showing shortcut in tooltip on custom toolbar Hi! I have a custom toolbar with buttons for different styles like heading 1, normal, and a number of custom styles. The name for the button is set to the stylename + the shortcut, like "heading 1, Alt+1". I want the tooltiptext to be like the name for the button and so it is for some off the buttons but for some others it shows the button name and the shortcut aligned to the right. The tooltip for the heading 1 is for example "heading 1, Alt+1 (Alt+1)" Even if I via VBA changes the tooltiptext the extra shortcut shows. It would be ok if it was the same for all buttons but it is not. If I customize the toolbars to not show shortcust for buttons the extra added shortcut does not show. But I can not have this setting for many other reasons. And yes, the name of the button must include the shortcut.... What am I missing here?     - Catalog Merge Document? We have written a small program to perform merges between a database and Microsoft Word merge documents that our customers create. Recently, one of our customers was trying to perform a merge, but it kept failing. I traced the problem to the type of Word document. I have recorded how word does it and the recorded macro apparently takes a "behind the scenes" step in the creation of an autotext entry that it subsequently uses when creating the mergedocument.     - Dutch Math I need to write program code for 'international' applications. I have set my Region settings to Dutch(Netherlands). In Dutch (and other major languages), commas represent the decimal point and periods represent the thousands separators. Chaining calculations becomes more than very confusing (at least to me), because of the fact that the answer returned after the first calculation is expressed in Dutch (e.g., 1,5), but the next entry must be entered in 'American'. And if the initial values are picked up as string variables from an input box, it becomes even more confusing. Are there resources to help explain this? I have created a User Form that completes a Word document and prints the
document when the OK Print button is pressed; a copy of the document is never
saved after printing. There is also a button that clears the User Form.

How do I get the Clear button to also clear the bookmarks on the document so
a fresh document can created and printed?
