    - combobox that can be seen every pages Hi, Lets say I have a word doc. which is 30 pages. Every pages has its subject. 1-I would like to create a combobox, which includes the headings of these pages. So when I clicked any item in the combo, macro will automatically send me the corresponding page (my intend is make a kind of table of content). 2-the important part is, like toolbars, this combo should stay at the same position while scrolling, or changin the pages.     - repeating data not updating all fields, only first I've created a 13 page form which reuses several pieces of data throughout. I've created a userform interface to the form template to gather the data and disperse the data throughout the document after opening the template. I've created bookmarks to correspond to the data, using the [] method of creating bookmarks. In every subsequent reference to the bookmark (where I want the bookmark to expand the data to what's entered on the userform) I've used cross-references. However, consistently only the first field referenced gets updated. All of the other fields remain as the cross reference { REF BName \h }, rather than expanding to the name entered in the BName field on the userform. I've used Greg Maxey's code in the userform With ActiveDocument .Bookmarks("Text1").Range.InsertBefore TextBox1 .Bookmarks("Text2").Range.InsertBefore TextBox2 ... etc. End With UserForm1.Hide and used the autonew macro for the create button with UserForm1.Show to execute upon the click of the create button. I feel like I'm missing something huge here ... like asking it to update ALL fields throughout the document.     - Is there an html code for no right click I'm looking for an html code that will not allow visitors to your site, right click on a picture to copy it. I have found a couple on different websites, one of them completely wipes out the site, (luckily I had a backup) and the other says that the code written for no right click doesn't really work. That if you disable javascript or go back into the site with a different browser, say firefox, then you would still be able to copy the pictures.     - Merging fields using Access Database. I use this function in an Access Report to Format Peoples names properly. I wish to merge a word letter with my Access query but I don't know where in Word I would place this code or something like it.     - no spacing between cells in table Working in Word 2003. If you format a table using the Word menus/dialogs, you have the option of not allowing spacing between cells. (Table | Table Properties. On the Table tab, Options then remove checkmark in front of "Allow spacing between cells.") When I try to accomplish the same thing via VBA, it doesn't really remove the spacing, it sets the spacing to 0. Spacing at 0 doesn't look quite the same as "Allow spacing = False." Both of the following give the same results. 0 spacing, but "Allow spacing between cells" is still true (checked) in the Options dialogbox -- and the table looks a wee bit funny. Selection.Tables(1).Spacing = 0 And Selection.Tables(1).Spacing = False I can't find anything re. how to set between-cell spacing other than the Spacing property. Hy there, I wrote a very simple macro to automate printing of a document and as the "Manual Duplex" printing option isn't working properly, I'd like to handle with VBA everything.     - Getting propertys of the Normal style I'm trying to navigate through the Word object model to find the properties of the Normal style used for that document - particularly the font name and font size. I'm trying to do this for a large number of documents, so instead of doing it manually, I want to navigate the object model from a VB application.     - Variable Footers I need a way to create different footers for every page. Let's say the document is 5 pages long. The user is prompted as to how to start the numbering series. They will answer with a number only, say 3. The sequence follows such that page 1's footer displays 3 right-aligned. Page 2's footer would display 3A to left-aligned. Page 3's footer would display 3B right-aligned, and so goes the series for every page with incrementing letters and alternating alignments. Since I can't seem to control footers on an individual basis programmatically without sections interfering, what should I do? A couple things I've thought of are 1) making each page its own section, 2) inserting a docvariable field into each footer, then updating the field value with the correct page number. I am an experienced .NET/VBA developer but working with Word's sections is not intuitive for me. I will process documents that are generated out of my control, and I expect these documents to have one section for the entire document.     - distributing a Word form with macros I've developed a protected form in Word that will be distributed as a Doc file to multiple users in an organization. It uses macros to validate user entries and perform calculations. The subroutines and userforms are in the Doc file itself, because I was told that asking folks to use a Dot to create instances of the form would be too complicated. Now I'm told that asking users to set Macro Security Level on Medium and click "Enable macros" when opening the doc is too confusing (despite clear directions complete with screen caps -- sigh). The people who will be maintaining the form insist that there is a way to ensure the macros will work regardless of the user's security settings -- and without saying "Enable macros." They say they have seen it, they just don't know how to do it. I've tried to figure out how this is possible, and have tried to find info on the web, but to no avail. Is there a way to distribute the form to multiple users, ensuring the macros will run regardless of their security settings and without requiring them to click "Enable macros"?     - *bold, _italic, <>heading in Word/VB I tend to write a lot of documents in text-only format, with the following conventions: This_is_italic This*is*bold [This is a footnote] <This is a chapter heading> In the case of bold/italic, I'd want any token that has _ or * in it. Normally, I don't do documents that are so long as to make manual conversion feasible. A year ago, when I had a non-profitable emergency, Klaus Linke was so kind as to write me a macro to do the most cumbersom conversion, for footnotes. The convention I use for bold and italic, I understand is much more problematic. The chapter headings I would need so I can have a table of contents. Right now I have no immediate need for this, but I am considering returning to that non-profitable undertaking.     - capture keydown/press events in a user form I'm trying set up a user form where I can assign shortcut keys to various subroutines. I know how to do the keybinding (assign the shortcut keys) once I get the keys in the text box -- but am totally stumped on how to "capture" the keystrokes the user might enter in the form's text boxes. Unfortunately I'm pretty much a newbie with programming in general and VBA in particular...     - Documents convert to Hebrew after some manipulations Hi! I am experiencing a strange problem: I have an application that inserts some information in front of the main body of each document. It works great. However, documents from one particular user convert to Hebrew after my inserts. The text my application inserts changes from right to left. In the original document the language is set to English US. In the resulting document the language is Hebrew. I have no clue where to start my troubleshooting efforts. Is it on my side? Does the user have to change something on his? What can I do programmatically to eliminate this problem? Any ideas/suggestions/samples are greatly appreciated.     - Import AutoCAD DWGS I have table of two columns and unknown rows. I would like to insert all the AutoCAD files located in FOLDER XYZ into the word document.     - Word 2007 VBA can not set options.print... properties Has anyone else run into this (and found a reason/fix)? On one of our five test dev machines, Word 2007 has a weird bug. Start a blank new doc, go into the VBA macro editing area, add the line: options.printbackground=false (on our machine, you can use ANY of the print options for this test - printcomments, printbackgrounds, printdraft, etc.). they ALL fail... but the non-print options are fine.) If I try to run the macro, it breaks on that line with a runtime 4120 error bad parameter. I've changed it to options.printbackground=true - still no go. I've tried changing the default printer and restarting word. Still no go. Curiously, I can do a: msgbox options.printbackground and it will accurately read the value of the printbackground hckecbox from the word options, advanced, printing section. so... on this ONE machine, I can READ but not SET the options for printing programmatically. I have a pre-made document for engineers describing equipment which has a table of contents, places to insert images, Excel tables, and an Appendix added at the end (which will auto-fill into the toc). Usually, when I copy an article and paste it into Word 2000 (I am using Windows XP Home), I get a tiny "clipboard" icon (at the bottom of the document) which gives me the option to "Keep Text Only."     - Help - Word probelm (macros) I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask this, but here goes: Every single time I open Microsoft Word (Office 2003), I get the following text box: "Microsoft Office Word [in border of the message box]" "This file contains macros with an expired or revoked signature. Since you are running under high security level, these macros will be disabled." Is there any way I can find the source/cause of this? This happens even if I just start Word without opening any document files at all. It also happens every time I start Outlook (because that opens word as the Outlook E-Mail editor). I am concerned that something may have infected my system; I had some kind of critical problem a couple weeks ago, the system would shut down immediately after starting, and I did have to restore from an image backup. The restore (from a Drive Image backup) was drive C:, which includes the program files folder, but on my system the My Documents folder (which has all the Word files) resides on drive E:, which was not restored.     - Lowering Inline Shapes - How does Mathtype/Equation Editor do it? If you insert any picture into the InlineShapes collection, the picture sits with its base on the line of text. The only way I have found of lowering such a picture is to select it and use the Font.Position property - or Format / Font / Character Spacing from the menus.     - Word macro warning Hi Everyone I have XP Pro SP2 which is fully updated. I accessed a site using IE7, copied some text and pasted it into Word 2003. I saved the document and, when I reopened it, I was warned about it containing a macro. I did a virus scan which was clear. I enabled the macro and looked at the VBA editor but saw no code there. In the Project pane there are "Reference to Normal" and "ThisDocument". When I looked in the right pane of "ThisDocument", I saw DefaultOcxName, DefaultOcxName1, DefaultOcxName2, DefaultOcxName3 etc., to DefaultOcxName15. The text in the document was present initially in cells in tables so I converted it from tables to text then resaved the text in a new document but exactly the same warning was displayed when I reopened it. Any idea what's happened? I don't like the warning when I open these document(s). I suspect that I could retype the whole document (it would be pointless having a copy/paste facility) and that is likely to prevent the macro warning but I'd rather not have to do that.     - Word 2007 Digital Certificate problems? I've got a template signed with a thawte code-signing certificate (updated version for IE7). This certificate works as it should with Word 2003. If I try to run my template (it's a .dotm - macro enabled template) on Word 2007, in which I've selected the Trust Center's "Disable all macros except digitaly signed," it doesn't work -- the macros get disabled and I never get asked about the certificate. The only way i can get the macros to work is by choosing "enable all macros." If however, I run my template on Word 2003 and tell Word 2003 to "always trust this certificate," and then I install Word 2007 on that machine, Word 2007 does see and trust the certificate. Is there some additional step required to make it so a Word 2007 user with "Disable all macros except digitally signed" can use my template without having previously trusted the certificate in Word 2003 ??
