    - sporadic macro function I use the following code to automate the digital signing of word documents. Most of my users use Word 2003, but some use 2007. This doesn't work with 2007, it creates the file, but does not digitally sign it. Occasionally, I have a user that states that it just does not work (no error message). Any thoughts?     - Updating Values of Embedded Spreadsheet I have a spreadsheet that I linked to in my Word Document. Actually the way I did it was to insert an Excel Worksheet and I put this code below as the value of the cell =SUMPRODUCT('C:\Documents and Settings\cashmoregf\Desktop\2008_Injury_Report.xls\[2008%20Injury%20Report.xls]2008 Injury Rpt'!$O$4) This value should then go to the spreadsheet mentioned and grab the most current value in that spreadsheet. However, when I open the Word document the values don't update with what is current in the sheet in the referenced sheet. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. How do I make this value update in the document when the Word document is opened. If I put this code in a cell in a True Worksheet and open it, it automatically updateds.     - Help with Borderrs and Shading Dialog I am trying to return the value of user settings in the Borders and Shading dialog. I can determine the Left, Right, Top, Bottom, Horizontal, and Vertical border styles selected an then use that information later on to set one or more table borders. What I can't figure out is how to determine the line color and line width that a user selects.     - Table reference and calculation I have a document that has several tables, (about 35+). These documents will be used to create some base documents for other staff to use. The tables represent different "sections" of the document where staff will enter scores for questions in the tables. The first section of the document may have between 3-20 tables and the scores will need to be calculated. But I will not know exactly how many tables there will be in the first section from document to document. How can I check to determine how many tables are in the first section and then calculate the data in the second column? I do not want to include tables in the total that are in the rest of the document. Is there a way to name a table? I can bookmark a table, but not sure how to reference the cell value.     - Macro Security Settings Disabled 2007 - Bug? Is this a bug with trusted locations and VBA File System Object disabling Macro Security Settings in Word 2007 and I presume Excel also.     - Close Dialog boxes Hey, I remember seeing a post in the past, but I can't seem to find it now. I am programatically closing a word doc and it dosen't close the whole thing. It leaves the word pane open still because a dialog box opens that says something like, "There is alot of info in the Clipboard. Would you like to keep it available when Word closes?".     - Underline text Hi, I have the following macro that will underline the first sentence of any text formatted with a Heading 1 style. I'm trying to rewrite the macro to accommodate legal style numbering as in: ARTICLE I LEASES AND RENTS In this example "article 1" is auto numbering coming from the style and then there's a line break (Shift+Enter). I want the macro to underline the title of the section, in this case 'LEASES AND RENTS".     - Macro misbehaving... I have Office 2007, but I've designed a template and a Macro for an employer who has people using both Word 2002 and 2003. Since it's for someone else with a different versions of Word, I can't store it normally. Since I don't know the file structure of their computers, I figured it would be best to just create a folder on my C-drive so that they can store it in the same place when I send it to them. Here's the problem. I've designed 2 templates. The first template needs to call up the 2nd and place the contents of the 2nd template at the top of various pages in the 1st one. That's where the macro comes in. It inserts a page break then opens the 2nd template, copies the contents and then pastes those contents at the top of the new page. I purposely instructed the Macro so save in the normal.dotm file so that it could be run from any other file when the keyboard shortcut is used. It works like a charm from within the first template as long as the template itself is open. However, when I attempt to use the template as it is designed to be used...meaning that it opens a copy of itself in a temporary document (Document1, Document2, etc.), then the Macro fails to work. I get errors stating that part of the component set is missing...the actual template that has opened a copy of itself instead of the original. I've deleted and re-recorded this Macro so many times...but the results are always the same. What am I doing wrong? I have been trying to get this done for over 5 hours now. Is it because the documents are not being stored in the folders that Word normally stores them in? Can anyone please give me some suggestions? Thanks!     - Linking excel tables in Word 2007 Can someone help me with what I think should be an easy task but is proving anything in Word 2007. I use documents in word that contain excel tables to hold data that require formula. The results in the first table affect the data presented in the second table & so on. I assumed that a simple "Paste Link" would do the trick but although I can do the link when changing the data in the first table, the data in the second changes the first time but any subsequent changes are not registered & the second table remains unchanged. When I then go into the table to view the cell formula there is a reference to the first table but the cell address appears as RxCx & then displays an error ##REF in the cell. Having followed some of the discussions I have upgraded with all the current upgrades for Office, however, this only had the effect of causing my original file to become corrupt & cannot now be open. It appears that once the file is saved that the link becomes static & therefore doesn't change with the source data.     - page number in the Footer Hi, I need help with accessing to the Footer in the word. I have a template that allows users to create a report for them. The report is made up of sections such as Preface, Executive Summary, Sections, and so on in that order. The way it inserts the sections in the report is by using autotexts. So i have autotexts for Preface, autotexts for Executive Summary, and so on. My problem is with the page number in the footer for these sections in the report. When the user select Preface, the page number of the Preface should start with number 1. The rest of the sections will have their page number set to continue. If the user starts the report by selecting Executive Summary, then the page number will start with number 1 in the Executive Summary's footer. The rest of the sections after Executive Summary section will continue from there.     - Controlling the cursor when clicking on a protected section I'm working with a long template with many sections. Upon opening, it has all the sections protected except for section 1. In section 5, there is a group of radiobuttons (from the control toolbox toolbar). The reason why these are relevant is the following: Whenever I try to click anywhere in sections 3 or 4, the cursor goes automatically to one of those radiobuttons and selects it (it does not click it, but it selects it). Not only does the cursor move but this causes the document itself to scroll down rapidly from the section which I clicked to section 5, where the radiobuttons are located. On the other hand, whenever I try to click anywhere in section 2, since this section is also protected, the cursor flies automatically to the top of the document in section 1. The protection of the document is doing its job by preventing any input of information by making the cursor fly "somewhere" as the user clicks anywhere in the protected sections. I would like to change that "somewhere" and gain some control over where exactly does the cursor go when clicking on a protected section. Can this be done?     - Word 2007 behaviour when opened from setup hi, whenever i open the readme file from some setup, it opens in Word 2007. However at this time the Word 2007 shows up the username as "System" in username option of Word options. Also, i observed that Word 2007 theme reverts as Blue even though I had changed it to Black. However, if i open the same readme file after setup quits, Word 2007 opens with normal settings (i.e theme is what was set earlier and even username is properly shown) Has anyone come accross this scenario...? I am working with a team of editors who asked me to create a macro that will go through documents and find certain words that are commonly used incorrectly (but not always), but giving them an opportunity to decide whether or not to change each instance before moving on to the next. Basically, it would go like this: I want to find â??xâ??, â??yâ??, and â??zâ?? in any document I open. I may or may not want to change the items once they are found.     - Problem with Populating a Word Document from Access 2003 I have this database that has worked great up until now. When created, all users in the office were using Access 2003 and Word 2003. Now, two computers are using Access 2003 and Word 2007. The problem has something to do with the 2007 users when the word document is saved. Only these users can further open up the document to view/edit. The 2003 users, when trying to open up the document get nothing but gargle and a pop up box to select the encoding method to view the document. However, when the 2003 users run this database and create a new document, it is useable by all users still. I know that in Word 2007, you can select SaveAs 97-2003 document when saving, so I am thinking that I have to change the code accordingly somehow. On the "Picture" tab you then have the "Compress" button. I want to automate with VB running this "Compress" feature for all the pics in the document to a "Print" size.     - How can I tell with VB if a document has Markup activated? Hi All I need to ensure that when our Word files are sent to customers that "View-Markup" is not selected. When I record a macro doing this the code is: WordBasic.ViewChanges This means that I cannot tell whether Markup was on already. The code merely toggles. Is it possible to do a test and turn off Markup only when it is on? I cannot assume which way each Word file is configured. Some may have Markup on and others off. I have a simple function that I use to send an email from Word. In the version I have below, it uses an Outlook template and it works just great. But now they've decided they want to add some textboxes to the Outlook template that need to be filled in by the macro before it sends the template. I have programmed in Word, Excel and Access, but never in Outlook. I have spent several days researching Word references and Outlook references and have not been able to figure out how to fill in the textboxes on the Outlook template before sending it. Since the textboxes are named (in this case "txtPlanName" for one), it seems like it should be doable. From my research, it looks possible, but everything I've tried hasn't worked. The crude way is to open another instance of word and do a print
preview.
But in outlook, it says it is opening the office previewer.
So does anyone know how to access this instead with vba or vsto?
