Tricia,
To follow up something that may not be obvious: If your Office 2003
*is* an upgrade version, then you need to keep the old disk in case
you have a disk crash or virus infestation and need to reinstall 2003.
The installer will complain that it can't find a qualifying version on
the disk, and you'll need to insert the old CD in the drive to satisfy
it. If you've given away or sold the old CD, you're out of luck.
Also, put both the old and new CDs someplace where you'll be able to
find them a year or two from now, and be sure to keep the jewel case
with the 25-character product key. We get tons of questions from
people who've lost the key, asking how to get a new one, and it's a
real hassle for them.
