    - Word 2003 Email Template When I upgraded from Office 2000 to 2003 a few months ago, I apparently found the instructions (or stumbled upon the menu) that let me have a colored blank page for my email template. I get the same color no mater which account I pull up to use. I just added another email account and am tying to set up a different colored background for the emails that signature(account) will use. Problem is... I can't remember when I set this up originally and I'm having an awful time trying to find the right instructions that pertain to what I'm trying to do. All I want to do is give the new account a different colored blank form when I use it. I've already added the signature for the page and it works well.     - format change Here's a question... when copying text off the internet (a recipe off FoodTV in this case ) and pasting it into word, I want to convert all of it to "normal" text. I can convert table to text, I can select all text amd convert to "normal", but sometimes, I a Headline or a paragraph that says "body text" doesn't convert to Normal in the process. Why?     - Persistent tab at .67" in TOC styles I created a document with outline style header styles (1.a.3...). I modified the TOC styles to match. The TOC styles are all the same except for the first tab, which is set a little further out for each lower (higher numbered) TOC level to make room for the outline characters. The TOC1 style is based on Normal and all the others are based on TOC1. Here's my problem. For some reason, all of the TOC styles seem to have a tab set at .67", but I can't find where it's set. If I edit the style definition (Format | Style | Modify | Format | Tabs), it is not there. If I place the cursor on any line of the TOC, I see in the ruler bar, the tabs trhat are defined plus that .67" tab. If I manually delete it from the ruler bar, then the TOC formats correctly, but if I select the TOC and update fields (F9), the trab at .67" returns. It reminds me of that old folk song about the cat that kept coming back. How can I get rid of that tab?     - Word Count I have Word 2002 and had a WordCount button on the Standard Toolbar, which I dragged there sometime in the past. I have now moved it to the Shortcut Menu and would like to have it in both places, but am unable to do it.     - Two Column styles on one page Is there a way to have a page in a word doc with 2 columns in the top half of the page and one column on the bottom half. The example int the help pages shows it with one column top and two on the bottom. I was able to get that to work. Every time I tried two on top, one on the bottom, the text split very wierdly. The template also has a footer which is a page number and text that is manually typed in. The problem is that the header is not visible in Print Layout.     - Indexing Problem I have a .txt file - it is a book. I have another file - it is a list of keywords I want to index in the book. The keyword can have a few words separated by space. All keywords are sorted in descending order - there are no duplicates. Here is my problem: If a keyword is "book" and another is keyword "book about VBA" - because the keywords are sorted by descending order, first in the file will be "book about VBA" and will be indexed.     - Header/Footer Area Not Seen Foolish question, but I can't seem to sort it and it's annoyning. My normal viw is page layout. Normally, the header and footer areas of pages always appeared when I opened a doc. Recently, I've just seen the text area -- no header/footer.     - Header in Template doesn't show I installed Office 2003 in my desktop and set up a template for a letterhead in a header. I just installed 2003 on my laptop and put the letterhead.dot file from the desktop in the appropriate folder on the laptop. On the desktop, when I File/New and choose the letterhead template, it shows the header. It does not do that on the laptop. To see the header I have to View/Header and Footer to have it appear on the screen. It is the same template on both machines so there must be a setting in Word somewhere that will automatically display the header without having to use View.     - ADJUST VERTICAL RULER Some how I have adjusted the vertical ruler, so that all text starts from the very top of the page and ends at the very bottom. Not sure how I have done this? Obviously doing a search and replace for "Name : Blah" would be pointless as it's going to change every new form. Now every time I do this the entire document changes to the new style, which is not what I'm looking for. I'm looking that every *section* of the data above has a different style sheet, so "Name : Blah" would be Style 1. "Area : Blah2" would be Style 2, "Region : Blah3" would be Style 3 and so on. You may have "Save auto-recovery info" set to a low number in Tools |
Options | Save.

If you have an 80286 chip, Word is especially slow, I've found.
