        • Adding icon to toolbar to send an email Long ago, I figured out (with this group's help) how to put an icon on my toolbar so that when I click it, it pulls up an email ready to fill out and send -- very convenient. I used the Tools|Customize|Commands to do this. Since 80% of my emails go to my assistant, I wonder if there is a way to make it even more convenient, by adding an icon that when clicked, it pulls up an email pre-addressed to my assistant. Your help is greatly appreciated. George Lutz Tag: what prom dress should i wear? here are some pix to compare Tag: 78972

        • Help please - macro is on normal.dot, but not running in documents Hello, In my normal.dot, I have the following macro (found in an old post in this group)... Sub AutoOpen() Application.Run "GoBack" End Sub which places the cursor at the last edit point when a document is opened. This worked fine in Office 97, but I have just installed Office 2003 and it no longer works. I can open normal.dot, look in the VB editor and see the macro. When I open normal.dot, I am given the warning about running macros. If I open any other document though, I don't get the warning about running macros, nor does the GoBack feature work. Any idea why? Thanks. Tag: what prom dress should i wear? here are some pix to compare Tag: 78936

        • Lost in a quandary. To Word 2K, or to Word 2K+3...and on what OS? I have Word 2000 installed (Dell) on a Win Me HD, and I just installed a second HD with Windows XP on it. All I have to use is Notepad and Wordpad in Windows XP. I do have plans to have either Word 2003 installed or Corel WordPerfect 12 installed on the XP HD....sometime,...if the people in charge EVER make up their minds. While they are twiddling their thumbs for months and months, would it be OK to find a shortcut from Win ME to startup the Word 2000 on the XP drive? Would starting Word 2000 on the XP drive ruin the registry such that installing the newer programs I mentioned would be a mistake after starting Word 2000? If I installed the newer programs someday, how would that affect the documents still left on the Win ME drive? Will Word 2000 on the ME drive be upgraded to Word 2003 if that is installed on the XP drive? (will grammar check ever point me in the right direction?) Is the lifecycle of Word 2000 so sufficiently over such that I SHOULD NOT INSTALL Word 2000 from CD onto the XP drive? (I would think so, but users here may know more than I do, practically.) • see blank box instead of drawing in Outline and Normal views Hi there, I'm using Word XP and cannot see the drawing I drew in the Print Layout View in Outline and Normal views. I have read other posts on this matter but everyone's problem seems to get resolved when they change the wrapping of their drawing, but that doesn't seem to work for me. In fact, when I change the wrapping of the drawing to 'inline with text' I see in the Outline and Normal views, a white box in place of my drawing with the exact dimensions as the drawing, which turns black when I click on it. And with other wrappings I see no trace of the image in those view. I have tried these settings with and without the drawing canvas circumscribing my drawing. Any hints? Any thing else I could try? • See ugly underlining in Outline View Hi there, I am new to the Outline View of Word XP 2002. I have played around and researched but can't get rid of the grey underlining effect which you see for a line with length equal to the length of the first subpoint right under it (in its subtree) when you collapse that parent point. Here's a snapshot of the expanded version (all file): http://www.student.cs.uwaterloo.ca/~asajad/moh/expanded.gif And in the following collapsed version you can see the annoying and distracting underlining: http://www.student.cs.uwaterloo.ca/~asajad/moh/collapsed.gif How can I get rid of this effect? • How do I create a letter that has areas where I can change a word. Years ago, I used to work in an insurance office where they had letter templates(sometimes called boilerplates) I could use. The person dictating would tell me what number template to use. I would load it and then tab to areas that needed to be customized. I could even choose from a couple of phrases that would display. I could pick from "his", "her", "their", for example to make it seem as if the entire letter had been written specifically for the person reading it. Is there a way to do this in Word 2000? Any response is greatly appreciated. Tag: what prom dress should i wear? here are some pix to compare Tag: 78854

        • Repeating Data Reading members? comments, I?ve come across some really good tips. One was ?repeating data? ? gregmaxey.mvps.org. We have one particular Word template (Word 2000) (not forms) where we have to insert the name of the company and the name of the insurance company many times throughout. We currently use F11 to a Text Form Field and type in the required information. I?ve now followed the steps for the On Life forms and it auto populated the relevant information into the appropriate places and would like to try and incorporate these steps into the template. As my Word knowledge is so limited, am I likely to run into any problems if I change the template to show ?REF text?????? instead of the current form fields. I?ve also noticed that when I press the Protect Form icon it locks the whole document. Is there any way round this. Thanks in advance. -- Message posted via http://www.officekb.com Tag: what prom dress should i wear? here are some pix to compare Tag: 78829

        • Weird Print Issue I have 2 Canon printers - I use one for text and one for photos. I created a document that has photos and clip art and want to print to the i960, my photo printer (which I use fairly often with Word for a newsletter I am responsible for). Every time I try to send it to that printer, a blank page comes out. When I send the exact same thing to the pixma 3000, it prints perfectly fine. Now I know I can just put photo paper into the text printer ---- but am puzzled and curious why this would happen. I even made a new document and put the same content into it - gave it a different name - and it still wouldn't print. Very odd....... At one place the text wraps from the bottom of first column to the top of the next. • Frustrating bold/spacing problem Occasionally (frequently), the spacing is completely eliminated for those portions of my documents that are bolded. For example, if I bold the caption of a court document, all of the text on a given line falls on top of itself -- the phrase "civil lawsuit" will only take up one space -- all of the letters are squeezed into the one space. When I make the text unbolded, everything is restored to what it should be, except that I lose my ability to bold anything! Very weird, and very frustrating. Can anyone help? Thanks. • How Do I Type in Times New Roman a Unicode Hexadecimal Letter? I'm trying to type a transliteration of Sanskrit devanagari in Word 2003, using Times New Roman. I know the Unicode hexadecimals for those letters that have diacritcal marks. However, most of the hexadecimals contain a Roman letter, e.g., 1E47 for the underdotted n, preventing me from using the ALT-X shortcut method of typing the transliterated letter (since there is no E on the numbers keypad). So my question is as follows: Is there a way I can still use the shorcut method, or do I have to use, instead, either the copy-and-paste-the-symbol method or the Autocorrect method?
