    - Creating Christmas Labels with Word 2002 For years I've used Word Perfect 9 on an older system to make my Christmas address labels. It was nice and easy...simply select Labels and the type and start typing. I added a cute graphic. Great. I couldn't figure out how to get this label document into Word for years, or even manually create it in Word so I gave up and just used WP when I needed to print Christmas labels. I have the .wpd conversion installed, although it only says WP 5 as an "open" option, not 9. I get a "file currupt" message when Word tried to read it. (Some .wpd will open but others not.) I saved it as an .rft file, which at least allowed Word to open it up, but it's not in the label format it was as a .wpd. It's now a long list of addresses. Is there any way to use a multi-page document of text address to make labels? I tried Mail Merge, but it was looking for the names in a format that I don't have them in. (They are not in Outlook, an Address Book, Access, or any other thing like that.) I tried to start from scratch and used the Tools--Letter and Mailings--Envelopes and Labels, and copied my cute graphic to a label and told it I wanted a full page of the same thing. That worked and I would just retype the addresses, but I can not find a way to have more than one page of these labels in a document. The only way I can get another page is to make a whole new document again. There has to be a better way. How can I have a document of labels with multiple pages? Please help.     - copy-pasting from word 2003 to InDesign 2.0.2 I've recently upgraded from Office 2000 to Office 2003. The new word won't let me copy text and paste it into my version of Adobe InDesign. It simply shows the text in some form of default, digitzed style that cannot be manipulated or even highlighted. In Word 2003, there are certain default features in the drop-down menu (right-click on mouse) in the body of a document (i.e. heading 1, heading 2, heading 3, etc).     - Outline list will not restart numbering I have a document that contains an outline list: 1. Top level a. Second level b. Another second level 2. Another top level a. etc... The document is a log that keeps track of "trials". After each trial, I make a copy of the current trial. One copy becomes part of the history and the other copy becomes new new current trial. When I copy the trial, I copy the outline list. The second copy continues the numbering from the first copy. Usually, I am able to select the first item of the second list and click on Format | Bullets and Numbering | Restart numbering to get it to start num,bering from 1. Once in awhile, this does not work. Can anyone explain what might be causing this problem?     - Default zoom Is there a way in Word 2003 to set the default zoom to 100% so that new blank documents will have that zoom on opening?     - Italics I wrote a 400-page document (a novel) using all direct formatting of text. So, in order to switch to Style formatting, I selected all and clicked Ctrl + Spacebar, then applied Styles. But now all my italics are gone! There were several hundred words here and there italicized for emphasis. Fortunately I have several backup copies of the original document, so I can do a search for "italics" and find all the instances in the original document. But how do I apply italics to the corresponding text in the newly Styled document? It will take hours and hours to do it word by individual word. I tried creating a macro that searches for italics in the orig. doc then copies the text to the clipboard, then searches for the corresponding text in the new doc, then applies italics to it. Then another click would repeat the process for the next instance of italics. I was planning on clicking the macro for each instance. Several hundred clicks would still be easier than all that searching manually. But when I paste the search string into the Find box, it gets "hardwired" into the macro code and I can never progress to the next instance because the search always looks for the text I pasted into the Find box the first time. Okay, so I don't suppose this makes much sense. But I promise you that if you make a copy of a document with italics in it, and then do a Ctrl + Spacebar on it and then try to re-italicize all the words from the original, you will see what I mean.     - Viewing templates is EXTREMELY slow - HELP! We had all of our templates for our legal secretaries stored on their local machines. Then, for backup and security purposes we moved them all to our server (a Windows 2000 server.) When using File : New (from Template on my computer and navigating to the server share) was pretty fast (not AS fast but hardly noticeable.) The client workstations were running Windows 2000 Pro and Office 2000. We upgraded the workstations to Windows XP (sp2) and upgraded Office 2000 to Office 2003. Now when they try to do the same thing : FILE : NEW (from template on my computer and navigate to the same network share) it takes from 60 to 90 seconds JUST to get a list of all the templates. If they click on one of the tabs it takes another 15 seconds! This performance is HORRIBLE. If I copy all of the templates back to the local computer they are fast again but I've lost shared resources and I cannot back them up from the server side without writing scripts to copy all of the files back to the server (not a very good alternative.) If it is a purchased version and you haven't activated it, Help > Activate
Product. Not sure what to do if it is an expired trial version.
