Bullet size problem
Using Word 2002.
I can't find a large square bullet. They all seem too small. I'm
trying to get a square black bullet that equals the size of at least 10
pt Arial lower case characters. When I enlarge the bullet size, it
enlarges but it also moves too far upward, and doesn't stay down on the
same line as the base of the Arial 10 pt lower case characters. Any
thoughts?

ToC: delete unwanted info
I am a new user of Word 2007.
This is my first time working with the Table of Contents system and things
were going rather well untill this last time I updated the TOC.
I have been going along adding headings of topics I wanted to cover to my
document as I thought of them, and adding the corrosponding link to the ToC
at the same time. It was working really well as a short-cut to getting to
various places in the doc quickly.
Today after doing a couple hours of work on one of those sections I updated
the ToC and had a look... To my horror all of the work I had done is now part
of the ToC as well.
So far I not found a way to clear or undo a link. Please tell me one exists.
Thank you for your attention.

Table of Contents Formatting
Hi,
I have Word 2003. I have created a table of contents for a document. Some of the entries in the TOC retain the formatting from the document. Others do not. I do not see any difference between the headings in the document. Yet Word treats them differently. I am using a customized consistent format for all the headings. Can anyone help? Thanks. I have already created the Table of Contents and added appropriate entries.
Now however, I find I need more than the default 3 levels.
I know that this can be set when the table is created, but have not been
able to find anything about editing this setting later. Can this be done or
do I need to delete the whole thing and start over? If I do need to restart
I'd much rather do it now, before the whole document gets totally
overwhelming.

Openning xml document in MS Word vs IE
I developed an Access database that has several hyperlinks to several xml
documents in a folder. On my pc when I open the hyperlink Access uses MS
Word to open the xml documents. However, when I transfer this database and

know how to force Access to open xml documents using MS Word in a Citrix

custom dictionaries...creating and associating
I am an author of fantasy fiction and would like to be able to associate
particualar documents with specific dictionaries. I know from reading some of
the posts that a costom dictionary would be great for me since all my made up
words, names and such wouldn't be clogging my "normal" dictionary.
However, I have had a couple of strokes and have a great deal of trouble
with sorting through the wealth of information out there. If someone could be
so kind as to point me in the right direction, or at least let me know if
what I am thinking of is possible, I would be most appreciative.
What I need is a specific dictionary (or more than one) that can be
attatched to a group of documents. Also: How do I make sure that the words
are entered into the appropriate dictionary.
Thanks for your concideration.

Request for Help: Sending HTML Email, without any images embedded; details in message body
First part of what I've done: I have created HTML document using
Microsoft Word 2003 with a body of text and saved as .HTML format.
Next, I opened the file in NotePad to add my thumbnail / images code
from PhotoBucket (image host), to insert clickable thumbnails into the
page. The file is saved again. First test of the file by opening in
Internet Explorer 6.0 shows my code is correct; thumbnails are
functional and links work as expected. Close all applications.
Second part of what I've done: Now, in Explorer, I right-click my HTML
file and "Open with Word 2003". My page displays, much as it did in
Internet Explorer, except I can edit text and move thumbnails (if
desired). I click the "Email" icon on the toolbar (Fifth icon from
left) and now enter the recipient address. I click send, and off my
message goes.
Problem: My thumbnail images (small versions, also on the server with
main images) are embedding into the message and thus bloating the
message size from 10 KB (.HTML) to over 50 KB (sent message).
Help: How do I prevent Word / Outlook from embedding these thumbnails
into the body of the message? I want the recipient to receive a bare
bones, 10 KB HTML message, whereupon the thumbnails will download into
their client upon opening the message.
Rant: I've tried opening the document as described above, doing
cut/paste from Word, opening in Internet Explorer and doing "Send Page
in Email" which just attaches a .HTML file that they would manually
have to open. I need some help. :( Tag: template Tag: 91805

Autotext entry's formatting
I've just gotten started with autotext and I can see that it will be an
important time saver for me if I can figure out how to use it well. Usually
while emailing, I have been using Alt+F3 to add a lot of new autotext
entries and that works fine.
My problem is that when I insert one of my autotext entries back into my
document, usually an email, it is often times formatted with a different
font, size, and/or color that that of the current paragraph.
I have somehow created three different sets of autotext entries, named
Normal, Normal(Web), and Plain Text.
What can I do to have the entries in all three catagories available to me,
but in the format of the current paragraph?
Where are these files of autotext entries stored? Can I edit these files
directly?
Any and all help will be very much appreciated! Tag: template Tag: 91781
Skip mail merge fields from Excel Workbook when blank/zero
I am creating mail merge letters (pay-slips) in Word 2003 from a list
of about 300 employee records in Excel.
The list has 28 fields and some of the values in some of the fields in
the workbook are blank or zero.
What I need is that, when a value is blank or zero, then that field
(both field name and value) dosen't show at all on the letter so as to
make each pay slip contain only data that is non-zero and therefore
relevant to its recipient. E.g. if the 'Overtime' field for a record is
blank/zero (meaning this employee does ont receive overtime) then that
field doesnt even show on the letter.
In the letter, each filed is in its own row in a table. I've tried
using the "IF...Then...Else" condition for mail merge but it leaves a
space in the row when a field is blank/zero resulting in too may empty
rows in the letter.
I'm looking for a solution to taking only the fields I want from the
Excel sheet. Also, If there's a way to to automatically remove the
empty rows in the table when they're blank I'd finish of the solution
I'd started. Hope this makes sense.

Relative Hyperlinks

These are just links to other documents in the same folder. If I clear

Mail Merge problem with Word 2000
Hello to all. I've never used a service such as this before.
Hopefully i'll do this right :).
I have Word2002 at home, and do not have any problems. At work we have
Word 2000 running on Win 2000 Pro. The problem I am having is with the
Mail Merge. Specifically, it is when I am trying to insert a merge
field in my form letter.
I have produced a form letter in Word. I also created an address list
in Excel to use as my data source. I have the Mail Merge toolbar
displayed. When I click on the "Insert Merge Field" button, I see only
two choices---<<NAME>> or <<AutoMergeField>>. I do not see the header
choices in my data source.
I have tried countless times to fix this, to no avail. Could someone
please tell me just what it is I'm doing wrong? I don't know if I have
to manually add fields to the "button" (if so, I don't know how) or if
I need to do something special to my Excel sheet to have Word recognise
it (again, I don't know how). About my data source--there are multiple
sheets in the workbook, but all but one have been hidden.
Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide.

Avoiding Direct Formatting
I want to use styles properly and as much as possible, per wisdom or Word
experts. I also know that Word does funky things when a user boldfaces or
italicizes a section of text in a paragraph that is formatted using styles,
creating a new StyleName + Bold in a list of styles.
So, in situations where a user wants to boldface a few words for emphasis or
italicize a title, what is best practice? Is there a way to avoiding direct
formatting of text in these situations?

Corrupt graphics positions in Word after save, shut down, reopen
In a 30 page document, in landscape orientation, 2x Columns, with a linked
image on most pages, in Word 2003_I am finding that the position of many
pictures and hence text become displaced, some times to an adjacent page. This
happens after I have saved my perfected work, closed Word and then reopened
later. Protecting the file before Save does not help. All the graphics are
linked to but not embedded to the file which is about 1.5 MB in size. The
graphics, photos mostly, are located in a directory adjacent to the *.doc
file.
I am trying to get the layout stable before converting to a PDF file but I
cannot edit seriously in that format .
The text formatting used is a simple regular scheme but I do find deciding
the best for each image difficult when the layout keeps jumping about.
Advice on the best strategy greatly appreciated-Otherwise my family will
never learn their history!

Word 2003 date help
In Word 2003 I opened a letter I had typed a few years ago and noticed that
the date on it had changed to today's date. I opened a few other letters
and the same thing happened yet on the fourth letter it did not change to
date and it did indeed show the date that I had originally typed in. Why
would that happed? Would this be due to how the date was entered in the
first place? Either by the "Insert Date" from the menu or by just typing it
in? Is there a setting somewhere that cause it to update the date? I would
like for it not to automatically update and leave the date alone as
originally entered.
