I have done an index in a presentation, all works fine, except that the index
cannot be sorted according to the numbers. I have the choice of Paragrph or
field 1 in the sort menu, but if I choose Number in the Type menu it doesn't
work. What am I missing here?

What you want is not an index but a TOC; see

thanks, and I did do that TOC, and now I only need to find a way to sort
according to the page numbers and not the titles. Does anyone have a clue
what I could be overlooking here?

A TOC is automatically arranged in page number order. If yours is
alphabetical, it is an index, not a TOC.
