    - Prevent Text From Reflowing Hello everyone, When opening Microsoft Word documents created by clients it?s extremel important that the text does not reflow to the next page. Their printe version must duplicate their electronic version that I open on m system. Usually 1 or 2 lines shift to the next page?it happens sporadicall throughout the document. There are also instances where everything i perfect and no adjustments are needed. What method can I use to prevent text from reflowing in a document tha wasn't created on my system?     - Trying to remove a "watermark"? First of all, thank you ahead of time for any help you can give me. I use MS Word 2000 and Internet Explorer. In the Subject, I put quotes around watemark but I am not actually sure my problem is a watermark. When I use my Word software, the words "Top Secret" appear across the front of my printed page. The previous owner put it there, but I don't know how, i.e., if its an imported graphic, from the drawing toolbar or WordArt toolbar. In Help it did tell me to try to delete from Headers/Footers, but that does not work, at least not for me.:( Thank you again. I am job hunting and can't even print out my resume!! Helen L.     - Copy/paste in Word 2002 I recently got a new computer with Word 2002 - somewhat different than 97 on my old one. My question - I am having trouble copying from another application into Word - unless I have already launched Word, I can't paste text that I have copied onto the clipboard. I need to open Word and THEN copy the text in order to be able to paste it into the Word doc.     - Viewing Page Margin Area While reading the MVP FAQ site article called "Ruler of all you survey", I found out that you can shift the viewable portion of the ruler to the left (showing more of the dark area on the left that represents the page margin) by pressing the shift key and clicking the right arrow on the horizontal scroll bar. This has the unexpected affect of shifting all the text on the screen to the right (so it will stay under the white, "text area" of the ruler. I like this new view. At least, I would like to use it for a while and see how that works. Is there any way to force all word documents to open this way?     - MathType crashes Word XP I installed a trial of MathType as a way to easily add and reference equation numbers in a document I'm working on. I works well, but I've had it installed less than 24 hours and twice Word has "encountered a problem and has to close". The recovered file contains "repairs" in which equations have been converter to pictures (not very convenient for editing). I went to Design Sciences web site (support) and apparently this is a very, very common problem, which they claim is caused by Word - not their software. I'm using Word XP/2002, but this apparently has been around for previous versions also. My questions are: 1. Does anyone know if this is still an issue with Word 2003? Did MS fix whatever they needed to stop the crashes? If so, I might upgrade. 2. Does Word 2003 have better tools for adding and referencing equation numbers? This is the main reason I went to MathType, and with Word 2002 it was ackward to do. 3. Are there any other products like MathType that do equations, but are more stable? Thanks for any help.     - Word Document Size Increase Does anyone know the reason that a 5MB word document would jump to 13MB document after a few minor changes? The file was originall around 13MB. When I first saved the doc to my desktop it went fro 13MB to around 5MB. ???? I did a few minor edits and saved after eac one to monitor the size.     - Paste as image not text When I cut text from any document containing text, open Word and the paste in word, a image appears that looks like a little blue and yellow button. Here it is (This is a small image, hopefully it wont mess your readers up... Sorry if it does) If I try Paste Special, my options are limited to Bitmap or Device Independent Bitmap with the latter being the default. I have also tried Ctrl+V and Shift+Insert and the same thing happens. The issues clears up if I copy the same text again from the source and then paste it again. If I shut down Word and restart, the same things happens again until I copy the text again and try pasting it a second time. Why does Word default to pasting as a bitmap instead of text.? This does NOT happen in Excel or Access, only Word.     - Word XP/2002/2003 Would someone please take a moment to explain why, in the styles task pane of later Word versions, the option to "Update to match selection" is sometimes grayed out? I got some great info about configuring styles options (from S. Barnhill--thanks Suzanne), but I still would like to know why this option is grayed out when I right-click a style name, and what I can do to get around it. On the fly and on others' computers, I don't always want to change their settings in tools | options (even if this would fix it). The only option I've researched is whether the style "types" are incompatible (i.e., char vs. par), but I think it happens to me even when those are the same. Thank you all so much.     - Strange Wrod icon behavior I have two different icons (somehow) in the left side of the taskbar, next to the start button. One of them work fine and its smart tag says "Mic. Office Word 2003". The other one is very strange. When I hit it, I can a dialog box saying that Windows in installing Word, and it takes much longer to start Word.     - Macro doesn't record correctly Word 2003 Hello I'm not very experienced at macros but I record little ones just to quicken repetitive tasks. Today I recorded a macro on 3 machines with Word 2002 that pasted unformatted text at the cursor (Paste Special | Unformatted Text) and assigned it a shortcut key. I did exactly the same thing on a machine with Word 2003 and it wouldn't work - looking at the code it is only recording a straight paste. I did it over and over and in the end I just wrote the right code in myself, using the code from one of the other machines and it works fine. Is there some different way of handling this that I have missed in Word 2003? I certainly followed the same procedure that had worked on the other machine. Referring back to a previous post dated 2/20 @ 1:04 p.m. I can now manage the text wrap by laying down a single cell/frame table and sizing it to the exact overlay size as the template outline. I then used a drawing canvas to place my image on to make it more manageable. The text then wraps beautifully. Only one more problem for me, I can't figure out how to insert a background color or texture behind the text and image. One can insert anything in a textbox, except textwrap.     - Copy and Paste to Word 2003 I have been using Word 97 for three years now and attended two course in the use of the Word programme. Recently I purchased a new computer with Word 2003. I have noticed that when I copy a paragraph from a document or webpage, open Word 2003 and paste that paragraph into a new document (in Normal View) there is a small icon alongside the paragraph. If Word 2003 is opened before the paragraph is copied and pasted then this icon does not appear. When this icon is enlarged it looks like a small calculator or handheld computer.
