More than once I've found myself having to remove
highlighting that just seemed to appear out of nowhere
only on the numbers--not the paragraphs--in a numbered
list. When I go to the "format numbering" part of
modifying the style, I can see absolutely nothing that
would call for the number to be highlighted. I won't
bother to tell you the excruciating method I've been
applying in order to remove the highlighting!

Thanks for helping me with this and all the other
problems I've been bombarding you with lately! It was a
happy day when I discovered this wonderful newsgroup!

Display nonprinting characters if they're not already visible (Ctrl+*), then
select just the paragraph mark at the end of the offending paragraph and
press Ctrl+Spacebar.
