    - Creating an index My wife insists on using Word 97 because she is familiar with it and is computer phobic. I'm trying to help her create an index for an academic book for which the page proofs are due any day. However I am running into a problem. I know how to mark index entries, etc. But when I try to create the actual index, on the popup that opens up, everything looks good and I can select various options except that the "OK" button is grayed out so I cannot create the index. She happens to have Office 2002 on her PC and the same thing happens there: the OK button for actually creating the index is grayed out! What could be causing this?     - Formatting woes I need to use both frames and tables in my Word (2003) document form. It will be a protected document. My frames are really giving me a headache. They do not line up well on my document, especially when tables are immediately above and or below them. And forget having two frames side by side. It is a logistical nightmare. (I do need both as I am using frames to mimic radio buttons, of which there are several sets.) The tables are needed to enter additional data entry that require expandsion on occasion. The frames need to look like they are part of the table, even though they are not (because of VB programming constraints in tables) Is there a secret to getting frames and tables to co-exist in formatting harmony in Word?     - Help with language dictionary I created a template that provides formatting and standard layout used by a group : they put in content and the docs come back to me for fine tuning before going out for print. Someone has managed to change the grammar checker to french even though the dictionary is listed as english only and it has "infected" my template and I can't get rid of it! I used the MS Office Tools Language to make sure everything is set for english. Opening a blank doc > options > proofing shows custom dictionary: english/us, and Writing Style: is in english. In my (now broken) template, the second I apply any style my page is covered in little red underlines and Writing Style: is in french. Do I have to rebuild the whole thing from scratch or can I save it? And once I fix it/rebuild it is there some way to lock it so this once happen again?     - Office 2007 simple question: How do I rearrange the buttons? This is not a rant. I just want to change the order of some of the buttons one of the ribbons in Word (Outlook actually, but I assume the procedure is the same across Office 2007 apps - if possible at all). In pre-2007 versions, I could simply re-order the buttons on the toolbar to put my most commonly used buttons to the left - whether they were related or not. In my workspace view, the button I need frequently is squished into a "summary button", so I have to expand the button and then choose the command. I'd simply like to move the button I want to be the leftmost button in one of the button groups so that when the button is squished, it is still visible.     - Can't get rid of double space Hi, Every time I open a new document or change format in Word 2007 it always goes to double space and I have to go into the paragraph section and keep checking "Don't add space between paragraphs of the same style". With line spacing set to single. I do have a screen short but don't want to send it unless it is permitted. I never had this problems with Word XP.     - Macro help please! I'm completely new to Word 2007. While trying to figure out how to have all my business cards absorb the same changes I made to one, i went to Graham Major's site and downloaded what i thought was the right macro. I created the macro, but now I can't get things that I used to be able to do. For example, I created a template wherein I inserted the date update with each new letter. It worked fine, until I installed this macro.     - Creating columns - Word 2007 I'm mostly proficient in WordPerfect, but trying to come up to speed in Word 2007 (some limited past experience with Word 2002-2003). I'm trying to create a document with 4 columns that will allow me to enter information in the first column, move to the second, third and fourth in order then back to column 1. In WordPerfect this is known as "parallel" columns as opposed to "newspaper" type columns. I can't seem to get this to work in Word and finally had to resort to using a 4-column table which operates much the same way but doesn't allow for spacing between cells that columns would. Also it requires formating if the borders are to be removed. Does Word have this feature in columns? While I don't use it often it is definitely occasional use and would be nice to have. At the moment, that text in the footer appears in the footer of all pages. However, it seems better/more proper to only have it appear in footer of first page. B) When I started typing in the footer and creating line breaks with <enter>, the footer automatically increased its height. I have had to lower the bottom margin to 0.75 instead of 1". Or perhaps, there is a way to type in the footer with line breaks and have footer retain its original dimensions?     - Hidden Folders I back up selected files and folders to a portable Iomega USB 250GGB hard drive, using Iomega backup software "Iomega Automatic Backup Pro" The software lets you create a backup data set folder into which the desired files and folders to be backed up are copied into. You can create multiple backup sets, and I currently have four. But for some reason, while the older three display and behave normally, the most recent backup set folder does not appear in My Computer or Windows Explorer. However, I'm certain the backup folder is present on the drive, for the following three reasons: 1. When I request a backup to that folder, during the copy process the Iomega software provides a running list of files being backed up 2. During backup, the external hard drive is in continuous read/write motion, and finally 3. I used Properties to check the hard drive capacity before and after. It increased by about 7 GB, the approximate volume of the other backup sets. So why do three appear, while the fourth is invisible. I've checked to ensure that folder options display both hidden and system files. Is there some other way a folder could remain hidden? manually into the "Save As" box.I'm using the freeware Tclock exe in my
taskbar.From there I'm able to copy & paste the time & date into any programs
exept into Office 2003 [Student Teacher] What I'd like to know is how to
paste the date into the "Save As" box in office word from Tclock exe .

Try CTRL-V instead of the mouse.
