Unless you saved your powerpoint presentation in a format that doesn't
require the powerpoint application, you will need it to play any
presentations you made. You can't make new powerpoint presentations without
the application. I don't know whether OpenOffice has a presentation
application but you might want to check. Otherwise, you'll need to pay for
PowerPoint if not all of Office.

By the way, this newsgroup is about Word, not powerpoint.

There is a PowerPoint viewer. But this question would be better directed to
the PPT NG.

Yes. OpenOffice has a program very much like PowerPoint. Files are
interchangeable. http://www.openoffice.org/
