i have a 200 page document and at the top of each page, i
need to insert a hyperlink back to the table of contents.
is there any way i can do this in one step, rather than
having to repeat the process 200 times to cover each
individual page?

Look in Tools | Customize | All Commands to see if you have the
GotoTableOfContents command. If so, drag it to a toolbar. It already has its
own icon and everything. This will be much more satisfactory than a
hyperlink at the top of each page because it will always be in view.

Tom

This seems like very hard work when there is a built in command
GoToTableOfContents. Just attach it to one of the Toolbars and/of assign it
a keyboard shortcut.

That's great, but if someone wants to convert the file to PDF, then that
won't work, so is there a way to put a hyperlink to a particular page in the
HEADER of the document.

You can insert a hyperlink to the TOC if you bookmark the TOC page.

I havn't been able to put a hyperlink into the HEADER of the document, and
have it work in a PDF file.

I can't see why you would really need it in a PDF file. If you include a
navigation pane in your PDF, it is visible all the time, and users can jump
to bookmarks in the document from there (it functions the same as the linked
TOC in Word).
