I have a one-page doc with a simple 25 row x 4 column table. Only half of
the cells have two words in each (Arial 9 pt font), and the other cells are
blank. There is nothing else on the page. The file size reads 22kb, but
when the HP 6mp printer begins to print it reads it as a 515kb file. Does
anyone know why, and is this normal?

Thank you.

I don't knwo all the reasons behind this but it is normal. I have seen some
PDFs expand from a few hundred KB to tens of megabytes in the print queue.

Scot

This is normal. What gets sent to the printer is a complete page description
and a complete font set - not just ascii code. If you think that 515Kb is
large, wait until you see the spool size for a colour laser printer. It's
one of the reasons that gigbit Ethernets will be de facto within a couple of
years.

Not a "pro" but I believe it's because of the conversion required to
communicate with the printer i.e.. each format, font etc is converted by
the driver to the commands for the printer.
From some of the files I've seen 515k is relatively "small".
