    - Documents Jumping Back to the Beginning.... Oh, Mighty MVPs.... In the process of editing papers, it is common for me to have more than one version of the paper open (different filenames, obviously) to allow me to flip back and forth between the versions, comparing as I go. Often, when flipping to one from the other, Word jumps to the beginning of the document. I have no idea why this happens, or if it is a Word-driven (as opposed to Windows-driven) event. It's certainly not the worst thing that can happen, but scrolling down and then finding where you left off is a bit of a PITA.     - Languages Office Word 2007 XP Pro SP2 The language (installed) is in English. The language for spell checking is in French. Dictionary language is set to English. Language Settings (from Office tools) is set to English. Primary editing language is set to English. Yet, under spell check options the only language is French and under the proofing options I have just "French modes" for spelling. This impacts my spell check in OE which is bad, very bad...     - Question On Creating A Table ? Hello, Have a document with many lines of text in it. Each line starts with a number, and then some text. I would like to copy all of this into another WORD document, but into a Table (having 2 columns) in that document. The numbers would go in one column, and then the text in the other column. I would then be able, I believe, to copy each column individually such that I can then Paste it into a spreadsheet.     - EMBED Picture in Word 2003 I am having a problem with the version of Word 2003 on my home computer. I am doing a class exercise which requires me to add a chart to a Word document. I do this by going to the Insert -> Picture -> Chart. It then brings up a sample chart which I can either edit or use as is. It is supposed to be brought into the document when I click in the document outside of the chart. This process works fine on the computer I have at the lab at school. However, on my own computer at home all I get is a one line message about an embeddded chart when I try to click outside the chart to bring it into the document. I saw something in the Knowledge Base that I could fix that by highlighting the embed message and hitting Cntl-Shift-F9 but that doesn't work. Is there some setting I have wrong perhaps? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling office several times to no avail. Otherwise most of the normal functionality seems all right. Any help would be appreciated. When I insert a page number in the footer, I will add in the section identifier so the page number looks like A-1, etc. The A- is in front of the page number field.     - missing text after converting from single to double space I am using a somewhat old computer with microsoft word 2002. I like to type my text using single space formatting and incrementally convert it to double space (once the section or paragraph is finished). Many times when I change the spacing, though, amounts of my text are missing in the double spaced version, thus making my writing nonsensical. When I convert back to single space, the text reappears. When I open some (but not all) Word documents with Word 2003 a popup appears asking me:

D:\...\mydoc.doc should be opened as read-only unless changes to it need to be saved.
Open as read-onyl ? YES NO ?

How can I permanently (for all docs) disable this prompt dialog ?

I know that this dialog comes from the fact that on saving the document, it
had this box checked.
So, I think that this depend on how a person saves him/her document and you
can not change this feature for ALL documents, but for YOURS (ie the ones
that you create). You can do that by following these steps:
FORMAT - OPTIONS - SECURITY - uncheck the "read only recommended" box.
