    - Can't get rid of double space Hi, Every time I open a new document or change format in Word 2007 it always goes to double space and I have to go into the paragraph section and keep checking "Don't add space between paragraphs of the same style". With line spacing set to single. I do have a screen short but don't want to send it unless it is permitted. I never had this problems with Word XP.     - Macro help please! I'm completely new to Word 2007. While trying to figure out how to have all my business cards absorb the same changes I made to one, i went to Graham Major's site and downloaded what i thought was the right macro. I created the macro, but now I can't get things that I used to be able to do. For example, I created a template wherein I inserted the date update with each new letter. It worked fine, until I installed this macro. Now, where the date is supposed to show up on the template, I get a strange configuration of characters that says: {DATE\@"M/d/yyyy"} No date shows up on the letter. How do I get my old system back?     - Creating columns - Word 2007 I'm mostly proficient in WordPerfect, but trying to come up to speed in Word 2007 (some limited past experience with Word 2002-2003). I'm trying to create a document with 4 columns that will allow me to enter information in the first column, move to the second, third and fourth in order then back to column 1. In WordPerfect this is known as "parallel" columns as opposed to "newspaper" type columns. I can't seem to get this to work in Word and finally had to resort to using a 4-column table which operates much the same way but doesn't allow for spacing between cells that columns would. Also it requires formating if the borders are to be removed. Does Word have this feature in columns? While I don't use it often it is definitely occasional use and would be nice to have.     - Having Footer ony appear on 1st page of doc Word 2002 SP3 Win XP HE Hi, A) I am creating some letterhead and have put my address and phone numbers inside the footer. At the moment, that text in the footer appears in the footer of all pages. However, it seems better/more proper to only have it appear in footer of first page. (Unless I am incorrect and having the address and phone numbers in footer of all pages is more conventional?) How do I get the text in the footer to appear *only* on first page of document? B) When I started typing in the footer and creating line breaks with <enter>, the footer automatically increased its height. I have had to lower the bottom margin to 0.75 instead of 1". Is that a problem? Should I leave it at 1" as far as perhaps printing is concerned, etc.? Or perhaps, there is a way to type in the footer with line breaks and have footer retain its original dimensions?     - Hidden Folders I back up selected files and folders to a portable Iomega USB 250GGB hard drive, using Iomega backup software "Iomega Automatic Backup Pro" The software lets you create a backup data set folder into which the desired files and folders to be backed up are copied into. You can create multiple backup sets, and I currently have four. But for some reason, while the older three display and behave normally, the most recent backup set folder does not appear in My Computer or Windows Explorer. However, I'm certain the backup folder is present on the drive, for the following three reasons: 1. When I request a backup to that folder, during the copy process the Iomega software provides a running list of files being backed up 2. During backup, the external hard drive is in continuous read/write motion, and finally 3. I used Properties to check the hard drive capacity before and after. It increased by about 7 GB, the approximate volume of the other backup sets. So why do three appear, while the fourth is invisible. I've checked to ensure that folder options display both hidden and system files. Is there some other way a folder could remain hidden? Hello, I have a Word document (Word 2003 if it makes any difference), and I want to insert a flowchart that I created in PowerPoint as a picture. The flowchart is pretty much the full size of a sheet of paper. My problem is that if I insert the picture, it goes into the text where I inserted it. Normally this is exactly what I want, but in this case, I would prefer it if the text before and after the picture would move around to fill up the space before the picture, rather than leaving a (potentially) large amount of space on the last page before the picture.     - Can't delete file after rename/save as So I am going about converting my .doc files to .docx files. (I don't know the compelling logic behind the change of extension, but it has definitely been a big productivity boost for me.) I load a .doc file and "Save as" ,docx. Now I have 2 files with the same name and a different extension. Since I opened it from Explorer, I just Alt-Tab back and try to delete the old one. But it won't let me do that. Even thogh Word is no longer editing the old one, the error message says that it is. I have to close the new one before I can delete the old one. Do these guys do any testing at all? Is there a utility that will convert all of the docs in a folder to the new format and erase the old ones? I tried just renaming it, but then Word is too stupid to load it. Too simple and obvious, I guess. Anyone have a better method? I have several thousand to do. I am actually starting to like at least some of the new features, but the migration plan is a disaster.
