    - Backward text selection? Hi! I think "ext" text selection (pressing F8 and then typing the letter up to which you want to select) is a really cool feature. But can you also select backward by using F8? For example, you are at the end of a parenthesis and want to select the entire parenthesis including what's in between them, can you start from the ")" and select backwards to "("?     - Accent Characters I like Word 2002 to accent certain characters automatically. Is there a way to set that up? For example: Lets use (Resume) with the (e's) accented. The way I did the example, I went to: FORMAT > AUTOFORMAT > OPTIONS > AUTOCORRECT and typed in what I wanted when resume was spelled. Now if only a few words are needed this method is ok.     - Excel charts come in gray color Am using Word 2002 and have been bringing in Excel charts as "Link, Paste Special" into Word, as in previous versions. When it comes in it is in a gray background, with the figures in, which is different from the previous versions of a white background. I have checked Word options and Excel and have yet to find why this is happening. My home computer does not operate this way under the same enviornment. Word 2003 When using speech recognition along with Word 2002, making corrections was quite simple... use the mouse to highlight text errors, and then push the delete key on the keyboard to delete the offending text.     - My Word 2002 spelling checker does not correct mistakes. In some cases my spell checker does not correct mistakes. I've used all the hints in the Microsoft Word Help and it still skips errors. This is true both with automatic spell checking as I type and also when I use the F7 key. If I create a new document, spell checking works fine.     - Saving form data I have created a survey form using Word 2003. When an employees fill out the form I want to accumulate all their selections in a single text file or Excel database.     - Table as Macro/Template or what? I've been a casual user of Word XP for about two years. I hate every one of its "unprecedented number and variety of features," as touted by Microsoft. I wish there was a "dumb-down" button you could press that would reduce the program to a truly user-friendly word processor for somebody who has no "power-user" ambitions whatsoever. My current challenge is to save a table I have created in such a way that with the press of a key I can insert that table in a document in such a way that I can then enter values in one of the columns of the table to regularly record the severity of symptoms of a disease I am trying to track. I have attempted to read the "help" documents on tables, macros and templates. I am totally confused. Right now I have the table saved as a simple Word document (.doc). When I open that file then select the table and paste it into another document the table comes up all over the page. Then I have to go into the table menu and fiddle with the settings to finally get it to display properly so I can enter the values--then continue to type regular text below the table.     - Am prompted to confirm a delete action Hi, I recently upgraded to Word 2003 and am facing a peculiar situation. Whenever I needed to delete a word, I used to double click on the word and delete it using the keyboard delete button.     - Fax Console remains in memory I find that after sending a fax with XP's fax console wizard, <fxssvc.exe> remains in memory and attempts to answer the phone (which I don't want).     - Custom numbering with chapter number In Word 2002, I have equations (made with Word's equation editor) that I need to number. The number must be on the far right side of the line with the equation, must be surrounded by parentheses and must have the form x.y, where x is the chapter number in which the equation appears and y is the number of the equation, which restarts at 1 in each chapter. For example, a = b + c (3.2) Is there a way to make numbers like this that update automatically as more equations are inserted? With the checkbox from the Forms toolbar, you can't.

For an alternative, use the kind of checkboxes that occur in the Fax
templates. For instructions on setting this up, see
http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/add_check_boxes.htm.
