By sub number, do you mean fractions? I've not heard of that terminology.

Alternatively, if you mean Subscript, then Ctrl++ formats Superscript and
Ctrl+- formats Subscripts. These are both 'toggles, so after entering Ctrl+-
to start subscript, Ctrl+- will turn it off again.
