I installed Office XP on a PC with pre-installed Works--Word 2003--and I am
now unable to open any previously saved Office files. Prior to installing XP
SP2, every time I attempted to open an Office file or import any file or
photo the app would open but
would return "file unavailable" , however I now receive a large message
indicating the file has a virus. (McAfee security package from Premium MSN is
up to date) I can create and save new files, but I cannot re-open them on my
PC even though I can send them to another computer and they load perfectly.

I have tried uninstalling Works, uninstalling and re-installing Office XP
and later even installing Office 2003 Standard (All licensing legit,
Microsoft) and I can't seem to find a way to solve this problem. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

If you have or have ever had Norton AntiVirus, its Office Plug-in is the
problem.
