Opend it with Word and was able to change the text and hyperlink. However, when I replaced a picture and replaced with my own and redirect the hyperlink, the pointer does not display when the cursor is placed over the picture?!!     - Am prompted to confirm a delete action Hi, I recently upgraded to Word 2003 and am facing a peculiar situation. Whenever I needed to delete a word, I used to double click on the word and delete it using the keyboard delete button. However, in Word 2003, after I hit Delete, I am prompted (at the bottom left of the screen) "Delete Block? No (Yes)" and if I press Y then only the word will be deleted.     - Fax Console remains in memory I find that after sending a fax with XP's fax console wizard, <fxssvc.exe> remains in memory and attempts to answer the phone (which I don't want). I don't have it set up to auto-answer so I'm puzzled as to why it remains "on" following each fax I send out. Only deleting it from the Task Manager list of active processes works. Is there a way to either (a) prevent it from remaining active following a fax trasmission or (b) closing it without going thru Task Mgr?     - Custom numbering with chapter number In Word 2002, I have equations (made with Word's equation editor) that I need to number. The number must be on the far right side of the line with the equation, must be surrounded by parentheses and must have the form x.y, where x is the chapter number in which the equation appears and y is the number of the equation, which restarts at 1 in each chapter. For example, a = b + c (3.2) Is there a way to make numbers like this that update automatically as more equations are inserted?     - How do I automactically capitalize after a period? Sometimes words after a period are capped and sometimes not. I do medical transcription so have many periods in the body of my typing. I found the "exception" part but it seems to be the "opposite" of what I need to do. I have numbered lists and after typing "1." and then a tab, the first word of my parag. is not capped. When you reveal formatting it looks like a bent arrow pointing to the left. Copy and paste into find does not help.     - MS WORD 2000, All of my Menus , Toolbar, and formated is removed . I am puzzled about this problem. My ms word 2k, does not display any formating of menu's when adocument is opened. I have tried Uninstall & reinstalling the MS OFFICE Suite comletely. I have tried installing to another Drive attached to the same Win2003 Server. I have tried removing the Normal.dot File and reinstalling from a system that works using the same Office 2k CD Rom. I have tried removing the entry from the registry and Deleting the intire directory and reinstalling and still all my other MS Office Suitre apps come up fine but MS WORD Still has no menu's , no Tool Bar, Nor formating nothing but and area to type text. I have how ever realized that some minipulation can be done using the crtl-Keys , but this is stil limited and cumbersome, so its not what I would like to do . Is there any one who has ever had a simular problem and , what did you do to restore the defaults. The MS Document I found on the Web assumes that you still have a menu Option to go to customize, but in my case there is nothing available to use to get to these tools , Options at all ? What a trtip, this is a good one for the most of us, got me stumped for 3 Days and still no resolution. Now I need help, or should I just go back to Wordstar, of Samna ...Ha Ha.. just kidding but that tells you how long I have been dealing with thses systems and this one has got me stumped, along with a few other Die hards... In constructing a document (and learning styles) I've experimented with a number of different styles that now I want to sort out and discard from the Formatting in Use/ Styles and Formatting Task pane. Is there a way to determine which styles are actually in use as opposed to what I've tried and is being displayed in the Formatting in Use/Styles and Formatting task pane?     - Word doesn't print until second time Hello! I'm using Word 2000 (Swedish version) and a strange thing has occurred. The first time I print nothing will come out on the printer (HP Laserjet 1100A). I always need to print a document twice to make it print out on the printer. The Queue (you know the icon that shows in the system tray) appears but if I open it, it has no file in it. Hi all, I work in the translation business (Japanese -> English) and have bee tasked with creating a Word (Office XP) macro to identify stra double-byte(zenkaku) characters that have been missed during th translation process. We use Trados 6.5 in conjunction with Word and invariably we find a fe double-byte characters or words mixed in with the rest of th single-byte text that we need to find and change. My group leader created a macro that simply examines each word, one b one (!) to determine if it contains double-byte characters or not, an if it does, it flags it with '@' and changes the font color to red s we can go through later and manually correct the text.     - Unwanted Info Appended to Word File I am using MS Word 2000 (9.0.6926 SP-3) with Win2K. The following --unwanted-- information is automatically appended to a word document that I have. Even when I delete this information, something re-creates it whenever I open the file again. Another weird thing is that when I save, MS Word warns me that the document will be saved in Word format.     - Letter Template Hi All, I am preparing a letterhead template, but have 2 problems: 1. I want to include a JPG graphic at the top. The graphic is just 47Kb in size, but when I insert it and save the document, its size is 2MB!!!! I dont really want to send a letter of 2MB every time I write to someone, and that size will soon eat all the disc space I have. Any way that this can be smaller? The graphic really is not that big. When I save the letterhaed without the logo, it is still 224KB in size....! 2. With this layout - I want to be able to protect the top area - the logo and company name, and the address details at the bottom which is all in a 'footer'. I can't seem to get to a position, where the user will load up the letterhead, type in their letter (and NOT be able to change the fixed details), wnd when they save the letter, it will force them to ask for another file name.     - Word 2002 lock up I have a client with two identical systems. Both have Windows 98 SE an Office XP. This client has created an Excel spreadsheet that contain several macros but no data. Whenever they try to insert the spreadshee into a Word document, one of the systems locks up. The other syste alternates between locking up and getting illegal operation errors virtual memory errors and system running low on resource errors. I hav shut down everything running in startup, but that didn't solve th problem. I don't use Excel and I only use Word on a limited basis, so am at a loss.     - What are saved documents and how to use? Using MOS 2003. For whatever reason, Word began opening up with some documents listed in the Document Recovery task pane. I don't remember a crash that would have summoned some kind of document recovery, but thanks to global warming whatever causes Hurricaine of the Week, there have been a lot of unplanned power outs. I got rid of the opening dialogue box for the Recovery Task Pane by right clicking the documents listed as saved, and saving them. 1) I have duplicate counterparts of all these as regular Word documents, but I'm trying to figure out what format these are in. 2) They are listed with a tilde and whatever Windows or Word calls a $ sign in front of them and then the name, but when I open them up I get a dialogue box asking what font I want to use, and then I get chains of small squares. 3) How can I convert them into something readable and why are they in that form? I installed a useful add-in called Word Toys, and when it's installed and i open Word--it jumps at regular intervals (seems to pulsate--not kidding) but more importantly no menus will stay open--they just flash. I tried keys like Ctrl and Shift and they don't help. If I uninstall it, the problem goes away but I want to keep the add-in for its features. Create a shortcut to your printer on your desktop. Using Windows Explorer,
drag the 30 Word documents to the printer. Each will open, print, and close.
