 - Add to Dictionary is greyed out on spell checker Hi, Strange problem here. I have a long document "Connections" 250p, divided into sections. Using W97, Win98. Using Template "A". While I am working on a new section, e.g. 10, I have started a new document again using Template "A". When I complete and spell check section 10, I copy and paste it into the proper section in "Connections". OK? Now, I went to the main document "Connections" to do a final spell/grammar check and the "Add to Dictionary" box is greyed out. The other boxes, "ignore", etc. are ok.  - Create a semi locked document Hi All, This is my first post so please be gentle.:( I have a document that I print out and enter some details by hand (i.e. Name, Address etc) What I would like to be able to do is have this document as a template AND not be able to alter or delete any of the text in the document, BUT they must be able to add text to the same lines as the protected text. i.e. origonal text is "Name: " and the user puts in his/her name next to it. I have tried to use the 'Protect Document' but all I can make this do is stop any changes being made to the document not just specific text like I need.:mad: Also is it posible to force the user to save in a particular directory? Is any of this posible? :confused: I would very much like to hear any your thoughts on this or any other ways to create the same effect. Thank you all for your time.  - Mirror images Good day, I'm not sure where this post should go, so I'll put it here. I would like to print a table of one-line entries in a mirror image format. Very much like doing a t-shirt image, except that I will be printing on clear labels. the labels will then be put on the back side of a glass case so that the reader cannot pick at the label. The thing is tha I don't want anyone to copy and paste my pictures somewhere else. tried to go to tools/options/security and put a password on modify bu now it won't open unless there is a password. Is there a way to embe the files so that they cannot right click and copy them? Or anyothe way?  - margin problems When I open word in page setup it is setup forlegal landscape with a bottom margin of 3.13 and I cannot change it without a pop up stating "Increasing right margin causes last column to become to narrow in some sections haveing unevenly spaced columns" any ideas?  - cursor position out of view My multi-page document sometimes scrolls the document in an unexpected way. I don't know how to phrase it, but I'll be typing along (say on the 1st page of a 4-page document), and the cursor gets outside of the viewable area of the screen (i.e., the cursor position is past the viewable part of the window). Then, in order to "see" the typing as I do it, I have to stop and manually scroll up. Does my explanation make sense to anyone?  - yellow text I have several paragraphs that somehow got set as normal plus yellow color (the style just says normal+yellow). When I go into that style and select all examples, and click on the regular normal style, the normal+yellow style disappears from the style pane.  - footnote numbers I used the convert feature in Word 2002 (insert/reference menu) to change my endnotes to footnotes, and that went pretty well. I can see the note numbers in the text, and on the footnotes, on the screen OK. However, when I print the text and footnotes, the footnote numbers disappear from the text and from the footnotes themselves. Any ideas as to why? Also, the font size of the text in the new footnotes has changed to several different font sizes from one note to the next. Any ideas?  - Margins in Word Has anyone encountered the problem of margins not being as set in Word? This is making it almost impossible for me to print labels. I have used different printers with the same results, so the problem must lie within Word itself. For the experts out there, this problem started when I relocated from the USA to Britain.  - Query re the fonts atop the drop-down list When I create a document and "test" the appearance of some fonts for use as headings, etc., I find that the font that I tried but elected to not use stays at the top of the fonts lists in the drop-down box. If I elected to keep the font in the document, that would be a "bonus" for sure. But if I test a lot of fonts I soon end up with an unwieldy lists of unused fonts. I searched the help file and found no reference to this list. I also searched my document for any characters (like a blank line even) in the format/font of the unused fonts and found that they are not present in my document.  - Balancing columns I'm using Word 2000 on Windows ME. Preparing a document with mixed text and columns. I have numbers 2001 - 2045 which I want to put in 10 columns. I would hope the result would be: 1st line of 10 entries across page 2nd line of 10 entries across page 3rd line of 10 entries across page 4th line of 10 entries across page 5th line of 5 entries across page However I get 5 lines of 9 entries that in my opinion gives a poor finish to document (Column 10 is empty!)  - Printing Odd-Numbered Pages I have a thirty-page document that begins with a cover page, followed by several roman-numeral pages (i,ii, etc.) and finally the main body of the text, beginning at page one (1,2,3, etc.). I am using Word 2000 on a Windows 2000 Pro platform. When I attempt to print pages from the main body of the text (i.e., those pages numbered 1-25), using the "Page:" option -- whereby you type in the page number(s) that you wish printed-- sometimes I get the page that I specified, sometimes I get that page number, less the number of introductory pages, including the cover page. In other words, if I specify page 25, I may get page 21, since there are four introductory pages. The long way around this is to repeatedly use the Print Current Page option. I'd like to print odd pages, then reverse the pages and print even-numbered pages -- without printing the introductory pages. Is there an easy way to accomplish this? I wonder if it would be possible to create a substitute for that feature--a continuously upgraded display, appearing as a button on a toolbar, that would just show the page number and total number of pages?  - Autotext and "title" I am updating the template for out Standard Operating Procedure manual-- trying to make it more user friendly for people to use. I the footer, I want the text to read "SOP: ##.##" and "[SOP title]". because of brevity, the "SOP title" (sometimes quite long) is no always the file name and the SOP number "##.##" is not used as th filename because we want a bit of a description in the filename (mor than just a bunch of numbers). So, I have been trying to figure out how to link plain text, a Wor table cell or pasted Excel cell to be linked with a line in the footer For instance, the top of each SOP will have some information befor the outline starts, two bits of which are the title and the SOP #. Whatever text is in the title is and whatever the # is, I want that t be automatically be shown in the footer.  - subscripts and superscripts Hi As a chemist, I make extensive use of subscripts and superscripts in my documents. In Word 5.1 it was easy, and I have it set up so that all my superscripts appear in 10 point type, raised by 3 points; and all my subscripts appear in 10 point type, lowered by 2 points. the document is typed in 12 point font usually. Now that I'm reluctantly migrating to Office 2001 for Mac, it appears that the subscripts and superscripts set up in Word come out too small (around 7.5 points I think). I can't find any reference anywhere in the help files for how one can change this. So what I want to know is: 1) Is there any way of changing the default subscript/superscript settings in Word so that I can get them how I want them? or 2) Is there any way, when I've finished my document, of finding all the subscripts (or superscripts) and replacing them all with a bigger font. It appears that you can search for almost anything... except superscript and subscript. And it's not helped by the fact that when you subscript a character, it doesn't appear as a reduced font size in the formatting palette, so you can't for example search for everything that is in 7.5 point type and change it to 10 point. I'm sure this has something to do with the way that Word does it, probably by percentages rather than actually changing the font size. This is driving me up the wall so any help would be greatly appreciated!
