period or dot
I am using microsoft word 2003. My problem is the paragraph symbol suddenly
appeared on the space I was typing. I had a hard time removing or eliminating
it. It does not appear anymore but now a DOT appears after every word I
typed. How can I get rid of this dot? I also found out that even my files
(e.g. my Resume) DOTS appear in between words! Please help! Tag: What is the medical term for ankle swelling? Tag: 110381
Can a style have a text constant ?
Can a style include a constant text phrase or special character. For
example, could a style include the prefix "SECTION - " , so that the user
would not have to enter the same text constant before each section heading.
Sample follows:
SECTION - How to Fold Your Paper Airplane
Insert paragraph here about how to fold the airplane.
SECTION - How to Fly Your Paper Airplane
Insert paragraph here about how to fly the airplane. Tag: What is the medical term for ankle swelling? Tag: 110376
automated documents
I want to create a simple template which when opened will ask me to fill in a
couple of variables, then place the answer in the document.
I've looked at the "ask" and "ref" fields, but what I need to know is how to
open the document so that the prompts pop up.
This will go onto a Memorandum template. So what I want to happen is that
when I access the document, I'm asked to fill in the blanks (i.e.
"Recipient's name?"), then what I type is plunked into the document in the
right place. Tag: What is the medical term for ankle swelling? Tag: 110366
Insert Date make Bold Macro
I don't know how to write macros but I do know how to record them and make
icons for them that I put on the toolbar. Or I did back before Word 2007.
The goal is to have an icon always accessable on the toolbar, not in a
contextual menu, where I can select a macro that inserts the date in a
particular format and makes it bold and sets spacing following it. I had
this in Word 2003.
When I try to use the record macro function to do the above operations I am
stuck because while the macro recorder is running, after I have inserted the
date in a selected format, I am not able to highlight the date text and make
it bold. The little recorder icon hovers near the text but I can't select
the text.
What should i do?

Footer problems
Word 2002
New job, new letterhead, office converting from WP.
I got the letterhead figured out OK by using 'different first page'. But we
often have multiple page FAX sheets which presents a different problem..
If it's a one page fax, it needs a header and a footer. The footer is the
(long) caution paragraph. If there is more than one page, then we need a
header on the first page only and the footer only on the 2nd or last page.
I can't get this to work.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Unwanted Toolbar Button
Greetings,
Using Word 2003 in Windows XP
I recently installed the American Heritage Dictionary and find that they've
added a toolbar button to my Word. I right-click on the toolbar and disable
it, but it comes back every time I open Word.
I tried setting Word to automatically update my template, but that doesn't
seem to have done it.
Any ideas how to get my toolbar selection to stick?
Thanks,

Print margins
I am using Word 2003.
I often want to be able to copy some text from a web page and paste it into
Word.
I then select Normal, desired font size, etc.
Then I want to print it with preset margins.
I can not find any way in either Word or my Canon Pixma iP1600 where I can
set the margins permanently.
I can set them and next time they are back at the original very wide values.
Can anyone help?

Editing an object
I'm not sure if this is rally a Word 2003/WinXP Home question but here goes.
I downloaded the printout of a powerpoint presentation. It consists of a
set of single page objects (for want of a better term?). Each object is a
page sized box complete with handles. it also contains text.
I'd like to be able to make some edits to the text. But the object, as it
appears on the screen doesn't permit it.
Is there a simple, or even a not-so-simple way to do this? Would any other
programs do the trick? OCR, One-Note?

How does Office Word 2007 work? I'm lost! HELP!!!
I've been working on my college assignments on MS word 2007, which is

How to disable 2 page view?
Hi all,
I've just started using Word 2007.
When in 'Print Layout' view (I like to see the margins when I'm writing) and
I zoom a page after setting it to 'One page' view it will suddenly switch to
show 2 pages, side by side.
It refuses to show a single page at the zoom level I want. And I never want
to see a side by side view of pages. Ever.
I have a large widescreen monitor and I want the page to always appear in
the middle of the screen. Always, regardless of zoom level. Word used to do
this.
How do I disable this annoying behaviour?

Printing a booklet as part of a book
I have created a 240-page book in MS Office Word 2007. I want to print out
one copy on my LexMark645 printer (as a gift).
To do this, I need to divide my book into 10 or so "booklets", to be bound
together. In other words, each booklet needs to have booklet pagination, both
sides. The sheets are standard 8.5 x 11. Printed in landscape orientation,
each sheet will have two of my pages facing one another, and two more on the
reverse side. Standard stuff.
All my pages, headers and all, look fine on Word, but LexMark has its own
settings (including booklet settings) and I can't seem to figure out what
combination will work; I think one is fighting the other. Do I create
half-width "free standing" pages in Word, or use the two-pages-per-sheet
setting, or bookfold, or mirror, or WHAT?
I think I can figure out "why this setting is necessary" if I START OUT with
the right settings given to me very precisely. But I have trouble starting
from the other end, with a lot of context and general explanation, as one
usually finds in manuals.
It doesn't seem that for something this basic, I would need special macros
or templates.
I also need to know how to select and limit the book segments that I want to
booklet-ize. Can I do it by highlighting?--inserting section breaks
interferes with my Header commands.

Format Confusion
Hi,
I have a document in Word 2003 that had data pasted in from several
sources, but I cannot figure out why the indent markers on the ruler
do not match the text. When I apply a style to the problem paragraph,
it does not conform to the indents of the style - I tried Normal and
several others and the text always ends up .5" further from the margin
than is defined in the style.
I have a screenshot of the issue here:
http://home.comcast.net/~reitanospa/junk/formatproblem.jpg
Here's a rundown of the screenshot:
The insertion point is to the left of "To configure"
The paragraph is styled as Normal (as is the paragraph above it)
All non-printing characters are displayed
The indent for Normal is set at .25"
The text starts at .75" and wraps to that same point
The indent markers on the ruler are at .25" as is the setting in the
Paragraph dialog
Any ideas? I have approximately 60 pages to clean up and would rather
not copy and paste one paragraph at a time into "good" paragraphs.
Thanks. Tag: What is the medical term for ankle swelling? Tag: 110263

After selecting a portion of text, I cannot delete it
Hi,
I have a problem with deleting text in MS Word: basically, if I select
