In Word 2003, at the bottom of the screen it would tell you what your
vertical position was. In Word 2007, the only tool I can find is the
vertical ruler which I find very hard to determine my vertical position. Is
there something that will tell me that my cursor is so many inches from the
top of the paper?

P.S. I am not wanting to change my top margin.

Right-click on the Status bar and hey presto! There's a huge load of options
you can add/remove on the Status bar include vertical position.
