    - OEM vs Retail Licences question. Hi Guys, Ok, probably not exactly the right group for this question, but this is one of the most active and knowledgable group I visit, so hopefully someone will at least be able to tell me the right place to go and ask about this... My company(well, the one I work for) has about 10-15 computers running (mostly) Windows2000 and Word(/Office)2000. We are considering upgrading to XP and Office2007. Looking at licence pricing, it looks like it's going to cost us several thousand pounds to do this! Now, there are companies on the internet that sell OEM versions of XP and Office2007 at considerably less than the retail price. My questions are: 1) Is this legal, ie is there any chance of having the licence police coming a-knocking...? 2) If it IS legal, are there any catches or potential problems with going this route? I've always been a believer in the saying "If something looks too good to be true, then it probably isn't", and that appears to be the case with buying OEM licences. (My understanding is that it's based on the fact that although OEM licences can only be sold to 'system builders' the definition of 'System Builder' is fairly fuzzy, and these companies exploit that loophole.)     - Alt key commands (accented letters) Greetings. I am trying to write some text in French in Word. The problem is that when I use the Alt key commands, the accented characters that come up are automatically changed from Times New Roman font to Lucida Sans Unicode. However do I get this change to stop happening? I want the letters to appear in times New Roman font just like the rest of the test. also, I do not want to use Character Map or Word's symbol feature to produce these letters as such would take too much time.     - How do you turn of the autocomplete insertions of dates? When I write texts I see these flashing texts that are autocompletions of dates etc. On common such is when I write the swedish word "den". This could be the start of a date such as "den 27 november" but that is rather uncommon. Instead "den" is a very common word in swedish (like "the" in english) so I see these unecessary flashing texts a lot. How do I turn oft these? I get irritated by seeing them.     - making oversized documents I have wracked my brain on how to do this: I am writing a newsletter, and I want to final file to be two 11 x 17 pages, the first to be Pages 4 and 1 of the newsletter, and the second to be Pages 2 and 3. If I present original files to the printer, some graphix and pix look better coming from the original file, instead of having to make a master by photocopying the 4 individual pages in order.     - Setting workgroup and user template paths Hi In versions previous to 2007 I used to go in Tools->Options->File Locations and set the paths for workgroup and user templates to company workgroup and user templates paths and the templates would become accessible under File->New. I have tried to do the same in Word 2007 but without luck. I set the template paths under Trust Centre->Trust Centre Settings->Trusted Locations but when I choose New->My Templates, the templates do not appear there. What am I doing wrong?     - Word 97 and Open Office I've just bought a new machine, well, a late model Pentium. I gather it has never been used before; I had it custom built with 160G hard drive capacity and 256Mb of memory. It came with Open Office which I've used before and which I'm told mimics Word.     - Reinstalling data using floppy disc. I want to reinstall data from I transferred data from my computer, onto floppy discs and this process was very easy. I marked each of the discs 'Recovery Discs' and gave each a number. Now I want to reinstall that data back onto my computer but it reads the discs and doesn't process the information. Why?     - Vista-Word 2007-HP Officejet 5610 Quirk Due to a breakdown in a computer using XP, and having been using WordPerfect for many years, I find myself with a new HP Pavilion computer, running Vista Home Premium, using Word 2007 and a new printer. I have encountered no problem in preparing, saving and printing single copies of documents. However on the rare occasions when I asked Word to print multiple copies it won't. Each has to be printed individually. Attempts to get e-mail help from HP didn't get very far. Either they misunderstood or could only suggest that I make multiple copies after I had run one off.     - Distributing a macro downloaded from Internet I have 24 files named 1-Q.rtf, 2-Q.rtf, etc to 24-Q.rtf. I recorded a macro that appends them to CoverPage.doc in numerical order and I need to distribute the 24 rtf files and the CoverPage.doc with the macro to people in other places using Internet downloads. The macro shows up in Normal.dot and works on my computer. I'm confused about how to do this. I saved CoverPage.doc also to CoverPage.dot as a template file but it still doesn't work correctly on a different computer after downloading with the other files.     - change automatically the style/format of my references on bookmarks. Hi all, I am using references over bookmarks. It works fine, but the style of the reference is not cool. The reference appear normal, and it is only by moving the mouse on it that I can see that there is a link behind. I get the text with "press CRTL+click to follow the link". I would like theses references to look like hyperlinks. I can format the texte like hyperlink myself, and check the option so that it is not changed automatically when I update all the styles, but I would like it to be done automatically, each time I insert a reference on a bookmark. Format the wrapping on your picture as "Behind Text" or insert it as a
watermark.
