I am running WinXP Home and lately, it is taking about 45 seconds for Word
to start.
Other Office apps start fine, and I did a repair, which didn't help.
I have current virus protection and have run the latest copies of Ad-Aware
and Spybot.
I've done chkdsk and cleaned out all old garbage.
So far, no luck.
Does anyone have a clue as to why only Word is so sluggish???

Thanks,

Dave

I am interested in knowing the reason/s for the slowness and would like to read the responses.

If your "current virus protection" is Norton AntiVirus, start by disabling
the Office Plug-in, which adds nothing to your protection and causes a lot
of problems in Word (including slow loading).
