 - how do save-as from scanner to cd? using xp; scanned a document and then tried to save-as onto a cd. got message that said 'incorrect function' then after 'ok' got another message that said "you do not have access to the folder 'E:\'.  - Printing an Attachment containing {FORMTEXT} I have a problem when printing an attachment received with an AOL e-mail. My PC uses WORD 2000 and Windows Me. The attachment contains the statement "This work will be performed at a fixed price of $123,456.00." Pressing ALT+F9 toggles that sentence between "This work will be performed at a fixed price of $123,456.00." and the sentence "This work will be performed at a fixed price of {FORMTEXT}. However, when the attachment is printed, the printed text reads "This work will be performed at a fixed price of $0.00." After the attempt to print the attachment, pressing ALT+F9 toggles the sentence between "This work will be performed at a fixed price of $0.00." and the sentence "This work will be performed at a fixed price of {FORMTEXT}. Several of my associates received the same e-mail and were able to print the attachment without a problem, i.e., with the price of $123,456.00. In case it matters, the following settings were observed when the attachment was first loaded: (1) Tools, Protect Document, in the Protect Document dialog box, " Tracked changes" was checked and "Comments" and "Forms" were not checked. (2) Tools, Options, Print Tab, under "Include with document" no blocks were checked. (3) Tools, Options, Print Tab, "Options for current document only", "Print data only for forms" was not checked.  - Weird line numbering Using Word 2003. We use line numbering extensively, and most of the time it works as advertised. However, sometimes when pasting a bulleted list into a table cell, the line numbers acquire bullets as well! Similarly with pasting numbered lists into a table cell -- the line numbers change from 1, 2, 3 to 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc. Closing Word and re-opening it does not fix the problem. The only workaround I have found is to shutdown the machine and reboot it. Then the line numbering is restored to normal.  - Upgrading to WORD 2003 Hi, I bought a new computer a few months ago. It uses Windows XP. It came with a full version of MS Works 8 and a trial version of MS Office Standard. The trial period ends in a few days. I just bought the boxed upgrade for WORD 2003 only and want to install it. My Works 8. qualifies me for the upgrade. My question: To do this, do I simply go to add/remove programs and remove MS Office Standard, then use the new CD to install WORD 2003, or is there more to it than that?  - Word Documents and Manual Paper Feed Word 2000 and 2003, several different printers - same problem. We frequently get word documents via email from other offices. Occaisionally, some of them want to print using manual feed on the printer rather than just printing.  - Updating Office 2003 problem? Greetings all, I tried to help my mother In Law update Word by telephone, and had no luck. It was a rough going over the phone, but it appears we were able to do all except the final step(s). When she clicked to start the update, she got a message in her browser saying that she needed ActiveX turned on (OUCH). We ALL learned the hard way about ActiveX, and no one in the family uses it anymore. In fact, some have switched to Open Office. Rather then get grandma up to speed on OO, we'd like to have her use WORD as she is familiar with it and several other of the Office programs. Is there anyway to update Office (2003) without using an ActiveX capable browser?? It was a very pricey software package, yet she has never updated it.....It seems odd that there is no other way to update WORD, but the help file doesn't give any other option(s).  - How do I format New Document in Word 2003?(pagesetup graydout) I just upgraded from an OEM Office 2000 on a Win XP Pro computer, to Office 2003/2006 Small Business Management Edition.. Page Setup is grayed out for new documents even after typing and saving.  - Auto sentence capitalization My question concerns the Word function that automatically capitalizes the first letters of sentences. Since I do a lot of typing, i rarely capitalize the first word of a sentence since I know Word is going to do it for me. However, when I end a sentence with a number, it does not capitalize the following sentence. There must be an "ignore" function somewhere for instances such as this. I saved this document into a mydefault.doc file. How do I setup this document format as my default document format?  - Error Message -- Word97 for WinXP?? Hi, All: I was doing the Word97 (Small Business Edition) set-up on WindowsXP (Home Edition, with SP2) when towards the end of the installation I get the error message "! Htmlmqrq.ocx was unable to register itself in the system registry" with no option to go further. What does that mean??? Now Word does seem available, despite the aborted installation, only its icon is nowhere to be found, but I have to access it through actually opening up a text document, even one created in WordPad (though not the ones made by Notepad).  - Making a Bar menu with Styles Yesterday I posted a question about making a restaurant menu with Styles. (thank very much for the clear answers). Now I am on to the Bar menu. It is two columns of drinks with their prices (in a sense four columns). So I've drawn two long vertical tables. I am copying and pasting in the drinks and prices into the tables, one line at a time. When I need to add tabs for the spacing of the prices to the right of the drinks I am finding that the tab key doesn't push the number characters. Instead it jumbs the cursor from the left table to the right table, and then the next tab adds another table on the next page, and another tab jumbs to the other table on the new page, and on and on. (experimenting I tried Cntrl Tab and that does something wierd. It moves the number over a set distance but drops the left most character with each tab jumb.)  - Macros Disabled I just installed Office 2003 and am trying to come to grips with some of the small differences from the '97 version I was using. Everytime I open Word now, it gives me a "helpful" warning: "The macros in this project are disabled. Please refer to the online help to determine how to enable macros." Now the thing is that I don't want to enable macros. I don't use them in a word processor so I don't see any reason to open a security hole in Word that I don't need.  - Why "upgrade?" I'm still using Word97. It does columns, tables, textboxes and watermarks. It can create an index, tables of contents, footnotes, cross-references, and forms. It has an equation editor and that goofy textart module that I never use. What indispensible feature has Microsoft added to Word that makes Word97 obsolete? It is, after all, only a word processor, not a desktop publishing program. So, if you were a salesperson working for Microsoft on commission, how would you persuade me to "upgrade?"
