I've been using text boxes for years and have never had this problem before.
Now, when I place a "text box" on a new page, a wide black band about 2"
high appears across the bottom of the text box and I can't seem to get rid
of it.

hi billybob

have you tried using format / borders & shading and setting it to none -
when the outside of the text box is furry (lots of little dots) as opposed
to ////////// (to toggle between furry and diagonals, click on the outside
of the text box)

can you see it in print preview?

Cheers

Thanks for your response, Julie. My problem isn't dots or diagonals. It's
a solid black band 2 inches high (at the bottom of the text box) runs from
one side of the box to the other. There's nothing to highlight, move, or
delete. I have no idea what caused this anomaly. Any additional help would
be much appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks, Graham! I'll check out the article. If it doesn't apply, I get back
to you and the NG. Say, I remember recently fooling around with creating
some macros and templates. Do you think that I could have accidentally
corrupted the Normal.dot template?
