    - Email Slow I recently setup Word 2002 (sp3) to enable Email within Word using Hotmail under Windows XP(up to latest security fixes as of 7/15/04). After I select the from, to addresses,etc, I click the send or send copy button, Word indicated it was sent, however, there were no trace of the email. Three hours later, the receipent got the emails. If I do this over Hotmail, it is done within seconds! From what I gathered, the Hotmail setup is correctly done.     - Equation Editor v MathType Can anyone comment on MathType vs Equation Editor 3? I am writing a document with some moderately complex equations. Equation Editor is not as easy to use as I would like, but it's not that bad.     - Can't Install Works Suite 2004 This is embarrassing. Trying to install Works Suite 2004, but can't get past "must close following programs: "Norton AV (navapw32.exe)". I assume this is the AV autoprotection executable. Tried closing it via Task Master, and have tried disabling it via Norton AV options, but neither appear to temporarily disable the autoprotection...and I can't get to first base with the Works Suite 2004.     - Can't copy a symbol into Find what box Find and Replace will not let me copy anything in my Word document and paste it into the Find what box. I want to search for symbols I come across in a document from someone else I am reviewing and find all the instances of the symbol in the document. Even though the question mark in Find says paste into the Find what block it won't let me. Anything copied and then pasted goes into the document, not into the Find what box.     - ASCII HELP! I have a document I've typed in Word, and I need to save it in ASCII format. I thought that all you did was "save as" Text only. I've tried it both "with line breaks" and "without line breaks."     - Shortcut for degree symbol If I click on Insert / Symbol and then locate the degree symbol, it says at the bottom that the shortcut key is "Ctrl + @, Space". Is that correct? What does it mean? If I hold down the Ctrl key and press the "@" key, it does something to the line spacing. Then pressing comma and/or space does nothing.     - search parameters I have Word 2002. Is there a way to delete previous search parameters when I'm searching for a file with a certain word in it, and start with a clean slate?     - Correction modus Office XP, standard settings after new installation Former Versions (up to Office 2000) showed the proofreader's mark in the overwork modus in two colors (red and blue). In Office XP this changed to one color and a signe format (e.g. underlined). The reason for this change might be to allow the proofreading in teams (one color per person). I would rather like to keep the old modus with two colors (new: blue, delete: red). In the extra option menu is no button to make this change. I positiv know, that it is possible (I mad this change over a year ago, due to an new installation I now again have to deal with the standard settings) -- but I cant remember how I did it (registry?)     - Fonts not showing in Word I installed some new fonts into my font folder and I can see that they are in there but then when I open up word and go to change the font there are blank rows where they should be listed. I can even click on that blank space and it will change to the font that should be there.     - Copy & Paste chart into Word Hi, I have a chart in Excel that has several drawings (lines) superimposed but separately. The whole thing looks the way I want now and I would like to copy and paste it into a Word doc. The problem is that it only copies one element (the one selected, for example the underlying Excel chart) or one of the lines that I drew on it.     - Speed up access to Word documents Hi, I have a server named \\Server that has a folder called WordDocs, that has a load of Word documents that contain links to images in a folder called Images. I have remote offices that access the Word documents over a VPN using ADSL lines and that works OK. However to speed things up I thought it would be a good idea to make read-only copies of WordDocs and Images onto the remote local servers. Then the users at the remote office could access the Word documents locally when they just wanted to print them. However when they open the local document it accesses the images from the remote server and not the local server (because the links are stored as UNC file names eg \\Server\Images\Image1.JPG. The only way around this problem would seem to be to use a mapped drive (say drive Z) to specify the location of the image files and then to point Z to the local image folder on the remote systems and to \\Server\Images on the central system. That means the links would be Z:Image1.jpg) However, I read in these Newgroups that Word does not like mapped drives. Is there another solution to my problem apart from mapped drives ?     - Showing clipbard In using Word 2002, I did the following to have the Clipboard Icon always appear on the right hand corner: Edit > Office Clipboard, clicked Options button near the bottom of the clipboard's display and checked the box beside 'Show Office clipboard automatically'. However, it still doesn't automatically appear, even though there are two items in there but the only way I can view them is manually going to Edit > Office Clipboard.     - New tab created automatically when applying a style I want to have the first tab stop in style Heading 4 a bit further out than its default - at 1.65cm rather than 1.52cm. If I edit the style definition, create the new tab and clear the original one, it saves fine. But if I e.g. use the format painter to copy the format of a Heading 4 paragraph and apply this format (style) to another paragraph with the same format, the whole underlying definition of the style is altered and the original tab re-introduced! I don't have 'automatically update' checked, by the way I tried creating my own style based on Heading 4, but the same thing still happens with that. The earlier tab always seems to want to creep in. Somehow I inserted a pagebreak that separates the bottom
cells of a table I created. How should I elimanate the
pagebreak to reconnect the cells to appear as one table?

If it's really a page break, you should be able to see it and delete it in
Normal view. But the page may be breaking because of paragraph formatting
such as "Keep with next" in the rows that are jumping to the next page.
