    - Margins in Word Has anyone encountered the problem of margins not being as set in Word? This is making it almost impossible for me to print labels. I have used different printers with the same results, so the problem must lie within Word itself. For the experts out there, this problem started when I relocated from the USA to Britain. Yes, I do understand the difference between A4 and Letter size paper and I am using the correct reference number for the labels.     - Printing Odd Fractions I have a text in which I am repeatedly typing not-your-everyday fractions for bolt sizes (e.g., 13/16", 19/64", or 9/32"). Word places the common fractions, such as 1/4, or 1/2, in a typical format. Is there a way in which all fractions can be printed in this manner? I am using Office 2000. Thanks in advance.     - Cannot reverse print order I Checked the box for "Reverse Print Order" in Options. There is no setting for reversing print order on my printer setup (HPDeskjet 700c) The printer is printing the last page of a Word .doc last (I have to manually put them in proper order).     - Inadvertent Wipeout! What key combination am I inadvertenly hitting that causes all my work to disappear from Word ? The work is not even recoverable using "Undo". This has happened more than once to me and to others using Word as well? I know I can delete everything using the EDIT, SELECT ALL, and DELETE combination but I know that not the cause. Entonces Ud. anota su nombre y dirección al final de la lista reemplazando al #6, y envíe o ponga este artículo a por lo menos 200 "newsgroups"(Hay miles de estos en todo el mundo). Ningún truco, eso fue todo. La gran diferencia entre este sistema y otros es que Ud. tiene una lista de 6 en vez de 5. Esto significa que su promedio de ganancia será aproximadamente 15 veces mayor!!! Después de pensarlo una y otra vez, y consultar con unos amigos primero, decidí probarlo. Pensé que lo único que podría perder eran 6 estampillas y $6.00, verdad?. Como probablemente muchos de nosotros, estaba un poco preocupado por la legalidad de todo esto. Entonces consulté con el Correo Central de Chile y me confirmaron que en realidad era legal!!. Entonces invertí mis $6.00......IMAGÍNENSE QUE!!!... a los 7 días, empecé a recibir dinero por correo!!!. Estaba sorprendido! todavía pensaba esto terminará enseguida, y no pensé mas en otra cosa.     - Query re the fonts atop the drop-down list When I create a document and "test" the appearance of some fonts for use as headings, etc., I find that the font that I tried but elected to not use stays at the top of the fonts lists in the drop-down box. If I elected to keep the font in the document, that would be a "bonus" for sure. But if I test a lot of fonts I soon end up with an unwieldy lists of unused fonts. I searched the help file and found no reference to this list. I also searched my document for any characters (like a blank line even) in the format/font of the unused fonts and found that they are not present in my document.     - Balancing columns I'm using Word 2000 on Windows ME. Preparing a document with mixed text and columns. I have numbers 2001 - 2045 which I want to put in 10 columns. I would hope the result would be: 1st line of 10 entries across page 2nd line of 10 entries across page 3rd line of 10 entries across page 4th line of 10 entries across page 5th line of 5 entries across page However I get 5 lines of 9 entries that in my opinion gives a poor finish to document (Column 10 is empty!)     - Printing Odd-Numbered Pages I have a thirty-page document that begins with a cover page, followed by several roman-numeral pages (i,ii, etc.) and finally the main body of the text, beginning at page one (1,2,3, etc.). I am using Word 2000 on a Windows 2000 Pro platform. When I attempt to print pages from the main body of the text (i.e., those pages numbered 1-25), using the "Page:" option -- whereby you type in the page number(s) that you wish printed-- sometimes I get the page that I specified, sometimes I get that page number, less the number of introductory pages, including the cover page. In other words, if I specify page 25, I may get page 21, since there are four introductory pages. The long way around this is to repeatedly use the Print Current Page option. I'd like to print odd pages, then reverse the pages and print even-numbered pages -- without printing the introductory pages. Is there an easy way to accomplish this? Then I invested the measly $6.00.............plus postage Well GUESS WHAT!!... within 7 days, I started getting money in the mail! I was shocked! I still figured it would end soon, and didn't give it another thought. But the money just kept coming in. In my first week, I made about $20.00 to $30.00 dollars. By the end of the second week I had made a total of over $1,000.00!!!!!! In the third week I had over $10,000.00 and it's still growing. This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just over $42,000.00 and it's still coming in rapidly....... It's certainly worth $6.00, and 6 stamps, I spent more than that on the lottery!! So can you afford $6.00 and see if it really works?? I think so... People have said, "what if the plan is played out and no one sends you the money? So what! What are the chances of that happening when there are tons of new honest users and new honest people who are joining the internet and newsgroups everyday and are willing to give it a try? Estimates are at 20,000 to 50,000 new users, everyday, with thousands of those joining the actual internet. Remember, play FAIRLY and HONESTLY and this will work. You just have to be honest.     - toolbar button showing page number Folks, I've realized that most of the time the Status bar in Word 97 is useless except for two things--the page number and the total number of pages in the document. I wonder if it would be possible to create a substitute for that feature--a continuously upgraded display, appearing as a button on a toolbar, that would just show the page number and total number of pages? Then the otherwise useless Status bar, with its stupid column numbers and line numbers and section numbers and inches from the top of the page, could be dismissed most of the time.     - Tables and form tool bar Hi, I am creating a document that consists of multiple tables that contain text form fields. These tables span over several pages. The document contains a header and a footer already. We are trying to accomplish the following: We would like there to be a 'header-like' line near the top of ever page that contains text form fields.     - Autotext and "title" I am updating the template for out Standard Operating Procedure manual-- trying to make it more user friendly for people to use. I the footer, I want the text to read "SOP: ##.##" and "[SOP title]". because of brevity, the "SOP title" (sometimes quite long) is no always the file name and the SOP number "##.##" is not used as th filename because we want a bit of a description in the filename (mor than just a bunch of numbers). So, I have been trying to figure out how to link plain text, a Wor table cell or pasted Excel cell to be linked with a line in the footer For instance, the top of each SOP will have some information befor the outline starts, two bits of which are the title and the SOP #. Whatever text is in the title is and whatever the # is, I want that t be automatically be shown in the footer.     - subscripts and superscripts Hi As a chemist, I make extensive use of subscripts and superscripts in my documents. In Word 5.1 it was easy, and I have it set up so that all my superscripts appear in 10 point type, raised by 3 points; and all my subscripts appear in 10 point type, lowered by 2 points. the document is typed in 12 point font usually. Now that I'm reluctantly migrating to Office 2001 for Mac, it appears that the subscripts and superscripts set up in Word come out too small (around 7.5 points I think). I can't find any reference anywhere in the help files for how one can change this. So what I want to know is: 1) Is there any way of changing the default subscript/superscript settings in Word so that I can get them how I want them? or 2) Is there any way, when I've finished my document, of finding all the subscripts (or superscripts) and replacing them all with a bigger font. It appears that you can search for almost anything... except superscript and subscript. And it's not helped by the fact that when you subscript a character, it doesn't appear as a reduced font size in the formatting palette, so you can't for example search for everything that is in 7.5 point type and change it to 10 point. I'm sure this has something to do with the way that Word does it, probably by percentages rather than actually changing the font size. This is driving me up the wall so any help would be greatly appreciated!     - Keeping default settings upon exit. About 3 months ago, I created a Word doc that required a size 48 font, blue color, Arial Bold font, etc etc etc... all types of settings. I saved it as a file (let's call it "sticker.doc"), and all seems normal. EXCEPT- that NOW, whenever I launch Word to open/create a new Doc (in Word), the settings from that document "sticker" doc are still in effect. I have to "reset" all the font/color/size/etc settings BACK to normal, before creating my new document. It's a frustrating pain in the %#@. Please help.     - File already open A friend recently upgraded their computer to XP and they are using IE6 & outlook express. When they receive e-mail with either word or excel attachments, they have office 97, every time they try to open an attachment from within the e-mail they get a message saying the file is already open, which it's not. We have tried deleting all the temporary files we could find but this didn't make any difference. When I merge those fields into Word, the numeric value is the 'Text value of the field within Excel.     - TAB and Numbering in a Template I'm trying to fix a template of a document that many people use, so I a trying to make it as user friendly as humanly possible. It is set u in a basic outline format with standard level numbering, e.g. I., A. 1., a., i. No matter how I search the help index, I cannot find a solution to m problem. I want to link using TAB to "activating" a specific level o the outline. For instance, if I don't use TAB on a return, then b default, I want the upper case Roman numerals (I, II, III, ...) t appear and the indentation to autoformat as I type. If I tab once then the upper case Arabics (A, B, C, ...) and indentations shoul begin. By tabbing twice, I want the Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, ...) t appear. Et cetera. I have a custom numbering scheme set up in the Bullet/Numbering men with all the left tabs and indentation how I want them. Currently hitting TAB just moves the cursor to the default TAB spot-- if I star to type actual text, it just remains tabbed and does not convert to th outline/numbering format. I have to type in "A." or "1." etc. to ge the numbering scheme to "activate". That's fine for me, someone wh knows what an outline should look like, but for others..... like said, I need to make this as user friendly as possible.
