Garbage at end of document

after saving a word 2000 document, when it is reopened,
there is a page of formatting language at the end, ie.
Normal
Normal
Heading 1
Default paragraph
etc.

Tone,

In the File Open dialog box>Files of Type Window, change Recover Text From
Any File to All Files or All Word Documents, etc.

Hi, tone,

You have the "Files of type" box in the File > Open dialog set to "Recover
text from any file". Change it back to "Word documents" or "All files".

When a document is displayed this way, don't save it! If you do, you'll
permanently lose all formatting.
