    - Tab order fields in a form / in a table I am tying to figure out how to set the tab order in a form that I created in word, it's in a table but I would like for it NOT to tab left to right only, Im trying to duplicate the input in one of our database programs.     - Problems printing to network printer with Word XP My wife is using Microsoft Office XP on a Windows XP pro machine. We have a network printer connected to a Windows 2000 machine that she prints to. When she prints from Word XP there are a ton of problems. 1. She can't print directly by clicking the print button. She needs to go to File...Print... 2. We can't seem to get a page to print in Landscape orientation. No matter what we do. It works fine in every other application including Excel. 3. Sometimes when she sets the orientation for the printer it crashes and she has to do a recovery of her document. 4. Sometimes when she gets it to print, it will just starte printing pages until the printer has to be physically shut down or it will never stop. (The actual document, not a garbage page.) I've tried to duplicate the issues within other applications, but it only happens in Word. Any help you could offer would be greately appreciated. P.S.     - Pronunciation marks I have been tasked to re-create a 50+ year old, 40 page document that is basically a small dictionary. How can I add the pronunciation marks? I've found the majority of them in symbols, but there are some I cannot find anywhere (picture oo with one long hyphen over both). My questions: 1) Can I find these somewhere? 2) Is there any way to insert these other than a)copy & paste each one into each place it needs to go; or b) use the insert symbol each time?     - Saving Documents I was typing a document for work and only saved it onto a floppy disk and not onto the hard drive. The floppy disk has decided to stop working and I was wondering if there would be a folder on the hard drive somewhere where the document could be temporarily saved? Please Help!     - page numbering Is is possible to supress a page number on one page and then change the page number on the next page. For example I do double page balance sheets that are considered one page. I need to elimate the page number on the first page but change the page number on the second page to one less than it would normally be. Does anyone know?     - c++ runtime error in Microsoft Word Is everyone who gets this error using a Gateway computer? I wasn't sure if I was seeing a pattern forming in some of the posts. I was getting this error quite often and got no assistance from Gateway. I am using XP and had two users set up. In frustration I deleted one of the users and this solved the problem. I experienced the problem once or twice again most recently last night. I had saved the document so I didn't care. I shut down the computer and restarted it and the error didn't occur again.     - mail merge with staple I have a Xerox printer that staples print jobs. This works fine for most printing but when I try to print a mail merge, since Word creates 1 print job for all the merges, they all get stapled together.     - Spaces at end or begining of sentence I've written a letter and then decided I wanted to break it into paragraphs. I went to the sentence I wanted to indent and hit the spacebar and nothing happened. I hit the tab and the whole document moved. I then went the the end of the sentence and hit the spacebar and the cursor kept going until I couldn't see it anymore yet the column indicator at the bottom said it was moving over and over. I put the cursor at the begining of a sentence and moved it in one letter and the spacebar worked. I'm confused! Why doesn't the spacebar work at the begining or end of a sentence?     - Is it possible to have 'cascading style sheets' in word? Can someone tell me if it's possible to have 'cascading style sheets' in word? What I want to do: have several documents. Within the documents, I will have different types of text, like heading, paragraph etc. I want to have one cetnral file that controls how each of the text type looks.     - Updating a document while some else has it opened I sent a link to a word document to several people to update. In the past only one person at a time could enter their data. Today someone tried to open it and it showed he was currently using it and could therefore only open it as read only. He could not see where he had it opened and even exited Word to be sure. It continued to show he was using it. I called our Help Desk and they showed several people had it open. I found out later that at this same time one of the ones listed as having it open was able to add comments and when the other person was disconnected it asked if he would like to merge his data.     - Header and Footer problem One person is using Word 2000 and develops documentation for our ISO dept. She is modifying a form we received from another company. She changed the header and footer to reflect our logo and info. After she saves it, the people using Word 97 or 2000 can view the document with the new updated header and footer. The people with Word XP can not see any logo at all. If the view (in XP) is changed from final to original or original showing markup, the original logo's appear and the new logo's are to the right shown as changed.     - Need help with networking problem I (and my three staff) use Microsoft Word 2002 with Windows XP Professional. We are changing over from standalones to a network setup. I would like my staff to be able to "see" the many macros and Auto Text entries that I have generated. My thought is that I just drop my Normal.dot template into the common network directory, and then change each user's path to point to that document as their default template, but my guess is that it's either not that easy, or that there are unanticipated consequences, or both. I am sure that there are articles, either in the Microsoft Knowledge Base and/or elsewhere, that comment on the networked use of Word. I would appreciate it if someone in the group could suggest some articles to help me avoid pitfalls or learn the best way to take advantage of the network.     - Visio graphics not appearing in word documents My office deals with federal grant proposals which have very strict page and format limitations as well as very tight deadlines. We often create graphic elements in visio or other graphic programs to insert into our word documents. However, while these elements show up in the print preview screen and when printed, they do not appear in the on-screen document whether the view is normal or print layout. Thus, it is impossible to accuarately ddetermine the number of pages in the document while working on the document and it is also impossible to manipulate the image on screen (there is no way to click on this). When dealing with tight deadlines and page limits, this is a serious problem. For instance, we were working with a document that had to be postmarked yesterday that had a 15 page limit. It looked like we were good at 14.5 pages looking at the on screen document but when printed, it was 17 pages. Trying to cut two pages is difficult, especially on tight deadlines. This problem seriously limits the usefulness of Word in this environment. We use Word 2000. If anyone knows of a fix for this, I would appreciate the information. Thanks very much.     - "Error 5121: Cannot open document"??? Word97 on an NT network. Multiple users of a form that creates documents. Macro suddenly starts failing with the subject error message after years of "flawless" performance. Errors are intermittent and occur on various machines. The error is triggered when the macro attempts to add a document which is stored as a template on a network workgroup templates directory ("Documents.add WorkgroupDir\Sys\ & ProblemFile.dot") ie The subdirectory (named "Sys") is a subdirectory of the target directory recorded in the file locations tab. I have managed to temporarily fix this, more by good luck than good judgement(!), by issuing the same command in the VBA immediate window using a different template and pointing the directory up one level (ie "Documents.add WorkgroupDir\ & AnotherFile.dot". If I do this, then re-run the macro, all is well (until the next day/hour...). Also; These problems started around the time that our system's people installed a McAfee virus scanner on all the machines. In my hours of searching I've seen references to how virus scanners can cause problems (most refer to NAV). I've tried killing the scanner and sometimes it makes a difference, sometimes not.
