    - HELP!... Word 2003 When using speech recognition along with Word 2002, making corrections was quite simple... use the mouse to highlight text errors, and then push the delete key on the keyboard to delete the offending text. Simple right?... Well now, with Word 2003, it won't let me do that. Are my settings wrong?     - My Word 2002 spelling checker does not correct mistakes. In some cases my spell checker does not correct mistakes. I've used all the hints in the Microsoft Word Help and it still skips errors. This is true both with automatic spell checking as I type and also when I use the F7 key. If I create a new document, spell checking works fine.     - Saving form data I have created a survey form using Word 2003. When an employees fill out the form I want to accumulate all their selections in a single text file or Excel database.     - Table as Macro/Template or what? I've been a casual user of Word XP for about two years. I hate every one of its "unprecedented number and variety of features," as touted by Microsoft. I wish there was a "dumb-down" button you could press that would reduce the program to a truly user-friendly word processor for somebody who has no "power-user" ambitions whatsoever. My current challenge is to save a table I have created in such a way that with the press of a key I can insert that table in a document in such a way that I can then enter values in one of the columns of the table to regularly record the severity of symptoms of a disease I am trying to track. I have attempted to read the "help" documents on tables, macros and templates. I am totally confused. Right now I have the table saved as a simple Word document (.doc). When I open that file then select the table and paste it into another document the table comes up all over the page. Then I have to go into the table menu and fiddle with the settings to finally get it to display properly so I can enter the values--then continue to type regular text below the table. I'm on a pretty tight time structure with a terminal disease. I really prefer to not spend my limited days struggling to learn the "unprecedented features" of Word. Help!!! Opend it with Word and was able to change the text and hyperlink. However, when I replaced a picture and replaced with my own and redirect the hyperlink, the pointer does not display when the cursor is placed over the picture?!!     - Am prompted to confirm a delete action Hi, I recently upgraded to Word 2003 and am facing a peculiar situation. Whenever I needed to delete a word, I used to double click on the word and delete it using the keyboard delete button. However, in Word 2003, after I hit Delete, I am prompted (at the bottom left of the screen) "Delete Block? No (Yes)" and if I press Y then only the word will be deleted.     - Missing Rights When I insert a chart in Word 2003, it becomes immediately unavailable for editing. When I try to edit it by double-clicking, it says "You don't have rights to edit this document". I haven't changed any options in word that use some kind of rights.     - table I have a table that has 4 rows. My top row is a header, 2nd row has checkboxes, my 3rd row is where a user will write comments, and my 4th row has footer information (company address etc..) What I'm attempting to create is a memo were the user will type up comments in the 3rd row, but what happens is when the user starts typing my 4th comes off the page and I end up with a broken table.     - Fax Console remains in memory I find that after sending a fax with XP's fax console wizard, <fxssvc.exe> remains in memory and attempts to answer the phone (which I don't want). I don't have it set up to auto-answer so I'm puzzled as to why it remains "on" following each fax I send out. Only deleting it from the Task Manager list of active processes works. Is there a way to either (a) prevent it from remaining active following a fax trasmission or (b) closing it without going thru Task Mgr?     - Custom numbering with chapter number In Word 2002, I have equations (made with Word's equation editor) that I need to number. The number must be on the far right side of the line with the equation, must be surrounded by parentheses and must have the form x.y, where x is the chapter number in which the equation appears and y is the number of the equation, which restarts at 1 in each chapter. For example, a = b + c (3.2) Is there a way to make numbers like this that update automatically as more equations are inserted?     - How do I automactically capitalize after a period? Sometimes words after a period are capped and sometimes not. I do medical transcription so have many periods in the body of my typing. I found the "exception" part but it seems to be the "opposite" of what I need to do. I have numbered lists and after typing "1." and then a tab, the first word of my parag. is not capped.     - MS WORD 2000, All of my Menus , Toolbar, and formated is removed . I am puzzled about this problem. My ms word 2k, does not display any formating of menu's when adocument is opened. I have tried Uninstall & reinstalling the MS OFFICE Suite comletely. I have tried installing to another Drive attached to the same Win2003 Server. I have tried removing the Normal.dot File and reinstalling from a system that works using the same Office 2k CD Rom. I have tried removing the entry from the registry and Deleting the intire directory and reinstalling and still all my other MS Office Suitre apps come up fine but MS WORD Still has no menu's , no Tool Bar, Nor formating nothing but and area to type text. I have how ever realized that some minipulation can be done using the crtl-Keys , but this is stil limited and cumbersome, so its not what I would like to do . Is there any one who has ever had a simular problem and , what did you do to restore the defaults. The MS Document I found on the Web assumes that you still have a menu Option to go to customize, but in my case there is nothing available to use to get to these tools , Options at all ? What a trtip, this is a good one for the most of us, got me stumped for 3 Days and still no resolution. Now I need help, or should I just go back to Wordstar, of Samna ...Ha Ha.. just kidding but that tells you how long I have been dealing with thses systems and this one has got me stumped, along with a few other Die hards... In constructing a document (and learning styles) I've experimented with a number of different styles that now I want to sort out and discard from the Formatting in Use/ Styles and Formatting Task pane. Hi,

You insert it the same way you insert anything else: by opening the header /
footer view and typing. -- Or, with the h/f view open, using Insert > Field.
Some fields can be found on the AutoText menu on the Header/Footer toolbar.

What, precisely, are you trying to do?

Form fields can't be used in headers or footers, which are inaccessible in
protected form documents.
