    - Recreate customised normal.dot Hi I am creating a desktop image for my organisation (500 users) and nee to customise normal.dot. I have done this and it works fine. What want to do is find the location where normal.dot is created from so i a user deletes normal.dot, it gets recreated. We are running windows XP running Office 2000 SP3 I found a normal.fmt file where Im assuming it gets created from. Ca anyone see an issue if I copy normal.dot over normal.fmt? The fil sizes are quite different. Is this the way to ensure newly create normal.dot files are the same?     - Copying Footnote Separators to other templates? I have a large number of templates, already created, all of which NEE identical footnote separators and continuation notices. If I create one template with separators we like, how can I copy the to other templates? Is there a style or a setting or something the live in that can be copied?     - 2 page document, 2nd page different I am composing a merge document in Microsoft Word 2002. The second page of this two page document is supposed to be identica to the first page (the same information will be merged into the secon page as the first page)EXCEPT that I want to have the word "COPY" as watermark or a backgroud on the SECOND page ONLY. Can anyone tell m how to set this up? I've tried these two approaches so far: first turn on in page set up/layout/different first page, try setting u watermark while on the second page second insert section break at the top of the second page, then vie header/footer, and de-select "same as previous", next set up watermark Both of these result in a watermark on BOTH the first and second page Is there a better way to print a document with the second page labelle as a "copy" of the first page? Then I invested the measly $12.00. Well GUESS WHAT!!?. Within 7 days, I started getting money in the mail! I was shocked! I figured it would end soon, but the money just kept coming in. In my first week, I made about $25.00. By the end second week I had made a total over $1,000.00! In the third week I had over $10,000.00 and it's still growing. This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just over $42,000.00 and it's still coming in rapidly. Its : Certainly worth $12.00, and 6 stamps, I have spent more than that on the lottery!! : Let me tell you how this works and most importantly, why it works?.also, make sure you print a copy of this article NOW, so you can get the information off of it as you need it.     - Stop merge documents question In this particular environment we do not want to merge revisions to documents. We want to keep them in a separate document. How do we escape the annoying question everytime we open a document? For example, someone emails their changes but we don't want to include without further discussion and review.     - Can't Insert Text Box in Word 2002 I am running Word 2002 under Windows XP. Yesterday, I discovered that I cannot insert a text box in a Word document. Every time I try, I get an error message and Word goes into recovery mode. I have had this version of Word for over a year and have inserted text boxes many times with no problem.     - Margins Hey everyone! I'm new to this forum and I have a question.     - Tracked Changes view switching from Final w/Markup to Final A fellow employee is tracking changes in her document, which actually is a form, with the view mode set to Final Showing Markup. When she sends it to co-workers for review, it changes the view to Final, regardless of what the recipient's default view setting is. This is preventing her recipients from automatically seeing the tracked changes likes she wants. I had her send it to me as a test, knowing that my default view is Final showing Markup and, sure enough, when I opened the form, it changed to Final and I cannot see the changes unless I go in an manually change the view.     - pictures and clipart not visible Office 2000. MS Word. If I insert a image file or clipart into Word, I see the "bounding box" but no image. In bygone days...when the image and the resize handles were visible, I could grab a handle and resize...or grab the whole image and move - now neither of these function.     - Character Styles We are using Word 2002 SP-2 and are trying to create a character style which would shade text, but would not change any other of the text's properties. (We want to duplicate the font property "Redline" that our users are accustomed to using in WordPerfect.) I have tried setting the "Style Based On" to "(underlying properties)" and to "default paragraph font", but when I apply the newly created style, it always changes the font back to what I had in place when I created the style. When I modify the style, I do not see any font designated. Is there a way to create a character style so that it only changes one attribute and does not change any other property of the text? Also, what is the difference between underlying properties and default paragraph font? I'm assuming that underlying properties allows for other character attributes which may have been applied, in addition to the paragraph font. Is that right?     - Cursor disappears in Word 2003 and never returns I've looked all over for the answer to this question, but I haven't much to go on. The problem is this: Every time I use Word 2003, before I get to the end of the first page, the cursor will disappear. Actually, the whole machine freezes and has to be restarted. It happens with both the integrated graphics chip on my computer, a graphics board I've installed and uninstalled, Microsoft Mouse Intellipoint 4.0 and 5.0, plus uninstalling everything Microsoft Office and reinstalling. A further oddity. Photoshop is normally well-behaved, but if I'm running Word and switch to PS before Word freezes, then Photoshop will invariably freeze. I'm not able to reproduce the exact sequences involved, but the end result is *always* the same. Word alone will lose the cursor and freeze before the end of the first page. Photoshop will invariably freeze if I've started a document in Word -- sometimes right away, sometimes after a few minutes. Any ideas? I'd really appreciate anything anybody has. I bought works suite 2002 2 years ago installed it and used word. It worked fine. This past Dec reformatted HD, and have just got around to reinstalling word. This affects my Word XP, my email and I can't seem to find a way to keep it from changing back. Does anyone know how to teach my computer that English is good and Chinese won't work in this house???     - Total chaos!! Does anyone know how to remedy a problem I have been encountering for some time? Basically, windows XP runs really slowly. I always get error reports. I cannot close windows (X icon doesnt work) without pressing ctrl alt del every time. Each time something closes it does so gradually...a row of pixels at a time. I have also lost my address bar when I use the internet. It seems to have permanently disappeared. All this has been occurring since i downloaded a 'GREAT STUDENT OFFER' from downloadalot.com. It seems to have totally affected my pc settings. I have tried locating the files (unsuccessfully) to delete them. I cant format my hard drive and reinstall my OS as I do not have a copy of XP.     - Aligning a word to the right ! Hello, In WordPerfect I used to be able to select a word and align it right, even though on the same line I may have had something aligned left. In word if I have a word aligned center and a word next to it and I want to align this second word to the right and I select it and click on align right, BOTH words are align right, is there a way to do this just like in WordPerfect, that is to have only the second word align right.     - Excel Paste Link problem Dear All I have read over and tried the following article, without complete success: Microsoft Knowledge Base Article – 185315 (WD97: How to Change an Existing Linked Excel Object). I am trying to add an additional column to a paste-linked worksheet in Word 97. By changing the range of the linked field code, I have tried to add additional rows (this works, removed columns (this worked), and tried adding a column (DIDN’T work properly). You can add a couple of columns, but this depends on the number of columns originally paste-linked. I paste-linked 10 columns and it would not allow me to add any more, but it would if I originally paste-linked 2! I have tried editing the Excel link as well and manipulating the range link, but this too without success. Can anyone advise me how I can add as many columns as desired? Thanks again! I have paste linked an excel.8 worksheet (Excel 97/Word97) into a word document. If I want to change either the number of rows displayed or columns, this article demontrates 3 ways of achieving this. The article suggests that you change the range element of the linked spreadsheet. If I change the row element of the range object it works perfectly, however, If I add columns, these additional columns are not displayed, and if I reduce the number of columns, they revised number of columns ARE displayed (but no more than the original paste- linked area).
