    - Print Layout question I apologize if this is going in the wrong place. I have my Word set fo Print layout. For the life of me, I cannot understand what I did, bu there are marks in each corner. I can't get rid of them. They loo like two lines joined at right angles and they frame each corner wher the margins are set. Any ideas of what they are or how to turn them off?     - Recreate customised normal.dot Hi I am creating a desktop image for my organisation (500 users) and nee to customise normal.dot. I have done this and it works fine. What want to do is find the location where normal.dot is created from so i a user deletes normal.dot, it gets recreated. We are running windows XP running Office 2000 SP3 I found a normal.fmt file where Im assuming it gets created from. Ca anyone see an issue if I copy normal.dot over normal.fmt? The fil sizes are quite different. Is this the way to ensure newly create normal.dot files are the same?     - 2 page document, 2nd page different I am composing a merge document in Microsoft Word 2002. The second page of this two page document is supposed to be identica to the first page (the same information will be merged into the secon page as the first page)EXCEPT that I want to have the word "COPY" as watermark or a backgroud on the SECOND page ONLY. Can anyone tell m how to set this up? I've tried these two approaches so far: first turn on in page set up/layout/different first page, try setting u watermark while on the second page second insert section break at the top of the second page, then vie header/footer, and de-select "same as previous", next set up watermark Both of these result in a watermark on BOTH the first and second page Is there a better way to print a document with the second page labelle as a "copy" of the first page?     - Margins Hey everyone! I'm new to this forum and I have a question.     - Tracked Changes view switching from Final w/Markup to Final A fellow employee is tracking changes in her document, which actually is a form, with the view mode set to Final Showing Markup. When she sends it to co-workers for review, it changes the view to Final, regardless of what the recipient's default view setting is. This is preventing her recipients from automatically seeing the tracked changes likes she wants. I had her send it to me as a test, knowing that my default view is Final showing Markup and, sure enough, when I opened the form, it changed to Final and I cannot see the changes unless I go in an manually change the view. What is causing it to default to Final and how can this be turned off or changed? Thanks!     - pictures and clipart not visible Office 2000. MS Word. If I insert a image file or clipart into Word, I see the "bounding box" but no image. In bygone days...when the image and the resize handles were visible, I could grab a handle and resize...or grab the whole image and move - now neither of these function. If I right click and choose Edit Picture, the image becomes visible in the Picture Editor. This used to work fine, for me...but not now. I ran a "repair office" but the problem persists.     - Character Styles We are using Word 2002 SP-2 and are trying to create a character style which would shade text, but would not change any other of the text's properties. (We want to duplicate the font property "Redline" that our users are accustomed to using in WordPerfect.) I have tried setting the "Style Based On" to "(underlying properties)" and to "default paragraph font", but when I apply the newly created style, it always changes the font back to what I had in place when I created the style. When I modify the style, I do not see any font designated. Is there a way to create a character style so that it only changes one attribute and does not change any other property of the text? Also, what is the difference between underlying properties and default paragraph font? I'm assuming that underlying properties allows for other character attributes which may have been applied, in addition to the paragraph font. Is that right?     - Cursor disappears in Word 2003 and never returns I've looked all over for the answer to this question, but I haven't much to go on. The problem is this: Every time I use Word 2003, before I get to the end of the first page, the cursor will disappear. Actually, the whole machine freezes and has to be restarted. It happens with both the integrated graphics chip on my computer, a graphics board I've installed and uninstalled, Microsoft Mouse Intellipoint 4.0 and 5.0, plus uninstalling everything Microsoft Office and reinstalling. A further oddity. Photoshop is normally well-behaved, but if I'm running Word and switch to PS before Word freezes, then Photoshop will invariably freeze. I'm not able to reproduce the exact sequences involved, but the end result is *always* the same. Word alone will lose the cursor and freeze before the end of the first page. Photoshop will invariably freeze if I've started a document in Word -- sometimes right away, sometimes after a few minutes. Any ideas? I'd really appreciate anything anybody has.     - Works Suite 2002 won't install word? Anyone have any idea why I can't get word 2002, which is on my work suite 2002 disks, to install. I bought works suite 2002 2 years ago installed it and used word. It worked fine. This past Dec reformatted HD, and have just got around to reinstalling word. I trie to install just word and it said it was unavailable. then I tried t install the whole works suite and when I went to programs to look t see if word was there it was not.     - WORD XP Chinese to English forever my computer previously lived in a Chinese home and thus likes to revert to Chinese all the time. I have changed the Regional Language Settings, but the keyboard continually comes up Chinese after I have removed it.     - Total chaos!! Does anyone know how to remedy a problem I have been encountering for some time? Basically, windows XP runs really slowly. I always get error reports. I cannot close windows (X icon doesnt work) without pressing ctrl alt del every time. Each time something closes it does so gradually...a row of pixels at a time. I have also lost my address bar when I use the internet. It seems to have permanently disappeared. All this has been occurring since i downloaded a 'GREAT STUDENT OFFER' from downloadalot.com. It seems to have totally affected my pc settings. I have tried locating the files (unsuccessfully) to delete them. I cant format my hard drive and reinstall my OS as I do not have a copy of XP.     - Aligning a word to the right ! Hello, In WordPerfect I used to be able to select a word and align it right, even though on the same line I may have had something aligned left. In word if I have a word aligned center and a word next to it and I want to align this second word to the right and I select it and click on align right, BOTH words are align right, is there a way to do this just like in WordPerfect, that is to have only the second word align right.
