    - Word 2007 did not download it's new no product key I just purchased Word with the product key back up. It did not download properly and I also ordered the backup CD. It won't work without a product key so now I am out $179 and no Word and now I am supposed to pay $49 for a support call. Why can't I just get what I purchased from Microsoft.     - office 2003 I am a perfectly satisfied customer with Word 2003 (and with Windows XP, for that matter). With a new laptop I signed up for the trial version of the new office, and I will not be purchasing the new product (it is overdesigned, and intrusive, and I am tired of learning new programs!). My old version of Office 2003 was on the hard drive removed from my last laptop, but while it was "seized" while I was on line and converted to Office 2007. How can I get back the old version of Office? Can Office 2003 (student and home) be purchased? Can I get Office 2003 re-installed online, or, at the very least uncontaminated?     - Persistent error message word 2007 I havre a new Dell vostro that came with office pro 2007 preinstalled, running win XP. I have recently installed a new HP wireless printer. There was also a windows update which self installed at the same time. Since then I have had the same error message each time I close down word, (although not when I close down the files I am working with first - just each time I close the app itself). It tells me MS Office Word has discovered a problem and needs to close. My information may be lost - and it offers an optoin to recover. It also details an error report to send to Microsoft. If I view the error report it is quite long. Each time I click and send the report. However, it only occurs with word, not excel.     - Runtime Error message I just picked up my computer from the shop (restored OS, Windows XP Home) and reinstalled WORD 2002.     - Themed Document and Section Breaks I'm trying to redo a document from Word 2003 to Word 2007. I want to take advantange of the new theming to make the document look more professional, but I'm having an issue with themes, formatting, and inserting section breaks. I created a customized template based on one of the standard themes, Equity Report, adding a TOC and tweaking colors and fonts only, and saved the template. I then created a new document based on my customized template. The problem started when I went to put a header on each page, starting with page 2 of my document. The first two pages are the cover page and the TOC. I ended up with the the header and footer starting with the TOC. I used to handle this in Word 2003 by adding sections, and starting the headers in the second section. My problem is that if I add a new section, I loose the theming on the new page. Any idea on how to add a section and keep my theme formatting ( borders etc.). SHouldn't this work similar to inserting a page break? Page breaks, incidentally, do keep the formatting.     - copy picture out of word with full resolution? ENVIRONMENT Word 2007 SP1. Windows XP SP2. SCENARIO I paste a high resolution picture into Word. I shrink the picture to fit my document. Now I do not have the original, but I need to edit that picture as a high resolution image. I right-click inside of Word and click copy. I paste it into a graphics program.     - Messed-up table Several days ago I did a database and main doc for a merge. The merge came out fine. Today I looked at the database table, and several rows on each page appeared to be stacked on top of each other. When I printed it, they also printed on top of each other. I then changed the view to 200% ,and onscreen they looked fine. But when I printed it, same thing--rows on top of each other. What in the world did I do that I shouldn't have done?     - Bullet style customizing Hello All I'm putting a vertical list of itmes into a column on a word table. I'd like Word to add a bullet to the left of each item with the bullet far let and only one space (or even no) between the bullet and the item. I open the bullet customize box and set everything for 0" (IE In "Text position": "Tab space after 0" and "Indent at 0". And in "Bullet position" "Indent at 0"") Yet, when I hit okay, Word inserts about a half inch of spcae between the bullet and each item. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any help.     - Changing the language preference for a document in Word 2007 I received a document, which I have to edit and add to. For some unknown reason, the language preference for this document is English (United States). I work in English (South Africa). My default language options under Word Options, Language, has been set to English (South Africa). but this has no effect. Obviously, this causes a lot of unnecessary stress, anger and frustration, when I have to cancel auto corrections, wait for the word to be shown as a spelling error, and then change the language - for that word only - to English (South Africa). And don't tell me to look on the review tab, because there is no option there to change the language settings. On the review tab the only language related options are Spelling & Grammar - to do a spell check, but not to change the document's language settings; Research, Thesaurus and Translate. Seems to me the only way to change this document will be to select each word, right click, select Language, and change it. When you block a word, a sentence, a paragraph or the document, and you right click, this Language option is not there. To be quite honest, I prefer Word 2002 and 2003!     - Word 2003: Advanced Find & Replace Broken? (long post) Hi, I am not a new user, but I couldn't find a suitable group for this, so I posted it here. I'm experiencing strange behaviour with Word's (2003 SP3) Advanced Find & Replace w/ the "Use wildcards" option. What I'm trying to do: Find all paragraphs consisting only of numbers, add a prefix to the number and replace the closing paragraph mark with a whitespace. This is to move recitals (marginal numbers) to the beginning of the related paragraph. The first problem I encountered was with search (this is w/ a .txt file made from the original .doc, so the recitals become regular paragraphs w/ only the number in them). Searching for paragraph marks with ^13 works. Searching for numbers with ([0-9]{1;}) works as well (please note that this is a German localized system, so ';' is indeed correct). Combining both to ^13([0-9]{1;})^13 doesn't work. It finds none of the targets and 'finds' several completely wrong numbers w/ no paragraph marks next to them. Neither do ([0-9]{1;})^13 or ^13([0-9]{1;}) work. So far, the description was for a .txt file. After the attempts described above not working, I moved to the actual incoming .doc file, which has the recitals formatted with a special paragraph style and a positioning frame (btw, I'm not sure whether I use the correct English expressions because, unfortunately, I'm forced to use a localized German version of Word). Removing the positioning frame is easy. I can also easily replace the paragraph marks by spaces when searching w/ the style required. What goes wrong completely, is trying to add the prefix to the recital numbers. The behaviour is *very* strange. When I try to add the prefix to the expression itself, it is - added completely *after* the number (expression) instead of being prepended if the prefix is one or two letters; - added in part before the number and after the number, if the prefix is three or more letters, w/ less letters added before the number and more letters added after the number if the number of digits goes up. This behaviour occurs both w/ and w/o the "Use wildcards" option ("\1" and "^&", resp., with the prefix added correctly before them in the "replace" field). To me, this looks like broken code/a bug.     - first page footer feild missing so I have this document that is set up for the first page to have a different header and footer for the first page for company letterhead info and then a difference footer on subsequent pages.     - Office:mac 2004 Word: Outline Number Problem I created a report and have a Section numbered as follows: "5.2.1 Types of Control Systems" This is a level 3 heading. I want to create subsections, i.e., a level 4 heading, under this section of the report as follows: "5.2.1.1 Post-Combustion "5.2.1.2 Carbon Dioxide Controls" I place the cursor on "5.2.1" to highlight this outline number and then hit the indent tab to get the next lower level outline number. When I do this, I get the number "1". When I hit the indent again I get "5.2.1.1", which is the level 4 heading I want. Here is the problem. I cannot get the next after level 3, i.e., the level 4 heading, i.e. "5.2.1.2". When I double click on "5.2.1.1" to highlight it, then go to "bullets and numbering", then "customize", which opens the "Customize outline numbered list" dialogue box, this level 4 heading shows up as a level 5 heading. In the Preview pane of the "Customize outline numbered list" dialogue box, here is what I see in the Preview pane: 5 Heading 1 5.2 Heading 2 5.2.1 Heading 3 1 Heading 4 15.2.7.1 Heading 5 I do not see a proper Heading 4, and I cannot create a level heading in the Customize outline numbered list dialogue box.     - Variable Word Count This is a reposting as I earlier put the question into the wrong place. On my machine there are a number of stories I have written - varying from over 70000 words down to about 1000. I need the number of words to let potential editors know when I submit something. These are stored in a sub-section of Documents. Today I discovered that a right click offers "more" - giving me extra column categories than I didn't know about, and they include one specifically titled Word Count. This seemed like manna from Heaven until I created and used this extra column. Some of the variations between the original W Count from the document and the one automatically inserted by Windows in the column are quite striking. Some examples. The first figure is using Tools / Word count; The second from the W.C. option in the column in Documents from 'more' . 3959 3062 Diff -927 3786 3161 -625 12279 10321 -1958 5687 4565 -1122. A couple of counts match exactly at 2668 and 918 while a novel length piece of 71796 words shows a tiny difference of +3. The Word version I use is from Office XP Pro and the Documents folder I use is included in Vista. Has anyone any advice to give or comments to make? All comments would be appreciated. Cheers, Aitch.     - Trouble with creating TOC I am trying to create a table of contents for a short document I am writing. I am doing so by marking certain headings using "Alt-Shift-O", and then going to the start of the document and creating the TOC there. Seems to work fine, except for one entry. It concerns a page that I have titled "Appendix 2" (There is no "Appendix 1" yet). The code entered is {.TC."Appendix.2".\f.C.\1."1".} The only code between this "Appendix 2" and the rest of the text is a page break. No matter how often I update the TOC at the beginning of the page, this "Appendix 2" does not appear in the TOC listings. Not sure why or how to fix this. I would like it to make it show up. I just recently purchased a new PC after my other one got fried. I installed
MS Office 2003 on the new PC. However, everytime I open Word or Excel the
EULA opens and I have to hit "ACCEPT" to continue. I tried to look this up
in the Knowledge Base but could not find anything. Has anyone had this
problem and if so how did they correct it?

Log in as the Administrator account and rerun the installer, accept the EULA
there, and you shouldn't be bothered any more.
