I have a series of documents that suddenly refused to open in Word
2002/2003. When I try, the program just sits there and eventually has to be
killed through task manager. The documents open fine in WordPad, I save
them in .rtf and can open the new file in Word without difficulty, but when
I save them back as a .doc I can't open the new file. This behavior is
noted on 4 different machines (the files are shared on a server).

Any suggestions?

Thanks

copy the text, paste and save them in a new word doc.

And sometimes it seems to help if you copy all but the very last paragraph
mark (which contains document formatting) into a new document. HTH T
