    - Numbering Labels Hi All, I want to number a lot of labels (800). I want to use Avery label 5109. They are on a 4x6 sheet of paper, 9 row with five columns (two columns separate the three labels that are actually printed on). So, there are 27 labels. I'm new to Word and need to get something out ASAP so if I could get step-by-step instructions rather than being referred to a website (although I could read the website later), I would really appreciate it. I want to number the labels starting with 1811 and then have each label automatically numbered after that. What I am thinking is that I create a page number in column 1 row 1 starting at 1811, but then how do I get the rest of the labels to get numbered (without numbering the 2nd and fourth column)? Should I be creating a different kind of file/template/macro with a nextrecord command, again avoiding columns 2 and 4? This seems really complicated. In WordPerfect each label is considered a new page so I could create a page number, hit ctrl enter, and have the next label numbered consecutively (although I'm not sure how I'd deal with the 2nd and 4th column again).     - Merge problem For years I have been using Word programs (Office 2000 series) to access Excel data files (e.g., names and addresses) to produce letters, mailing labels, etc. When executing a Word merge program, I am all of a sudden receiving the message, "Waiting for Microsoft Excel to Accept DDE Commands."     - Addressing envelopes I'm completely bewildered. Using Word 2003 I get the addresses for envelopes from Outlook Contacts. There I type the names in identical fashion, ie Mr John Smith. But when I get the addresses in Word, some keep the Mr and others omit it. In "File as" in Contacts, some offer the Mr and some do not. Even if I type in the missing Mr it doesn't necessarily appear in Word. What on earth is going on and please how can I rectify matters? Secondly I get Contacts List in Word to display in alphabetical order of Surname. I cannot remember how I did that and I have been quite unable to do it for a friend with the identical setup to mine.     - copying and changing formatting to the destination document I'm using Word 2007 and I want to copy sections of one document to another and have the copied sections change to the formatting, etc. of the document I'm copying to (keep the formatting of the destination document).     - saving word 2007 files My office just installed some new pc's running Vista w/sp1 and office 2007 into a Windows Server 2003 domain. Users creating documents in Word 2007 are unable to save documents to our file server ( in word 2003 format) and receive a message that "\\<server name>\<folder name>\file name cannot be found. Check your spelling, or try a different path." The same users can readily save documents using Windows XP Pro SP3 machines with Word 2003 to the same locations.     - vista rescueddoc corrupted with bunch of ??? I heed help. It's been a week in trying to save this document. I was working off a flashdrive and went to save the work. A message appeared saying something about having to shut the program and it would save my document. The original document disappered fron the flashdrive. Only an empty shortcut key remained and the rescued document that opened in wordpad. Out of the original document only part of the written text survived the rest were question marks. I figure it has something to do with the fact that I had written some of the text using word for apple 2004. Maybe... I've tried all the basic stuff, saving as RTF and converting back to word, savind as web, recover text from any file, etc. All I've gotten is different symbols instead of the question marks.     - Envelopes: How to add "PERSONAL" under the Delaivery Address I like to add sometimes, I would say quite often, the word "P E R S O N A L" near the bottom of an envelope under the Delivery address, with BOLD letter, spacing, etc. See all the steps that it requires once that I am in the Envelopes and Labels dialog: 1. CAPS LOCKS 2. Writing of the Word 3. Go to the Fonts dialog to then format to a bold type, underline, etc. Then I print it. Then I write another letter and I might still have to CAP Lock again, go to Fonts, etc, if I want to write in the next envelope again the same thing. I might have copied the P E R S O N A L word from the previous envelope, but if I lost it during the second letter writing (I.e., if I copied and pasted other things while writing the letter, a very likely occurrence), then I will have to retype again in the next envelope the word P E R S O N A L again and begin the whole process again. When I do that in many envelopes, the whole thing becomes too much tedious. My question: Has the Word Program not provide an easier way to write these optional words in the envelope without having to go thru all these steps every time?     - hyperlink Hi, I put some hyperlinks in my Word documents. BUt when I look at them, instead of usual underlined words I see something like {ref ...}. How I can see the ordinary words? For example, I put a bookmark in the end of my document and in the begining of document, I insert a hyperlink to it. This hyperlink is over a word like "end". When I point the cursor over "end" and click, I go directly to the end of document. But in my final document, instead of an underlined and with different color "end", I see {ref ...}.     - Can't Read Word 2003 docs backed up Vista now using Office 2007 SP1 Before I had Office 2007, I was using Vista (actually since it's Beta began, and I backed up what I think were my Word 2003 documents to DVD. I'm not sure if I can determine what version of Word was used but they should have been Word 2003 before any Betas of 2007 were available. I'm using Vista SP1 and Office 2007 SP1 on this box currently and both have every available update to date. Now when I go to open up, the backed up docs they show up in gibberish. I searched the MSKBs, Word Help on the MSFT sites, etc. and I downloaded the latest version of the MSFT Office Word Viewer. It doesn't help. I downloaded the "Compatibility Pack" and it did nothing.     - Graphics only visible in Full Screen Reading mode I created a simple graphic in Visio 2003, which I want to insert in a Word document. I am using Word 2007, but the document needs to be saved in compatibility mode. I have tried inserting the image in various ways and formats.     - Normal template Recently, my computer gave out, and I replaced it with a new one running Vista home version. I also had to update my office programs to 2007. When I go to Start then type the name of the document I'm looking for in The Start Search field, the document shows up above the search field. I then right click it and select delete.     - Problem creating a Christmas Card I'm experimenting in creating a Card. Card size is 6 7/8 X 10 Folded down across the middle becoming a 6 7/8 X 5 document. I'm trying to create the inside greeting so it will be on the BOTTOM half of the card when a person opens it.. My "proof of service" document includes mailing addresses, single spaced in the document which is typed on the pleading paper.     - Word Template problems I have a problem re-opening a saved page of labels in Word 2007 and displaying the text I have inserted AND the template outline. I want to re-label my VHS collection and have bought a pack of Avery media labels for the purpose. In Word I've chosen 'Mailings' then 'Labels' then 'Options'. I've selected the Avery product, clicked OK' and 'New document'. Up comes a page with a row of video spine labels visibly displayed. I can enter text and tab down to the next 'label' with no problems. So far so good! The problem arises when I save the page as a template and assign a name, e.g. "VHS labels". I can find that document in the location where it's been saved but when I subsequently try to re-open it to continue entering more text, (a) the outlines of the labels have disappeared from the page and (b) the page does not appear named as "VHS labels" but as "New Microsoft Word Document (3,4,5 or whatever). The text previously entered is still there and visible but I want to see the outlines of the labels as they appeared when the page was first opened and surely if "VHS labels" is selected to be re-opened it should appear as the title of the document/template page? more) other characters in a character set?

My current need is for three little squares: one empty, one with a
plus sign (+), and one with a minus sign (-).
