How do you change the default startup document. I have tried opening
a blank document, setting the font, margins, layout etc. the way I want
and then saving as Doc1.dot and Document1.dot in the STARTUP folder,
but no go with either.

I also tried changing the settings under Tools>Options>File Locations
but I still endup with the old default starting document.

Can somebody please point me in the right direction?

Thanks
Gus

Hi Gus,

Word's default template is named 'Normal.dot'. If you open that (File|Open>Files of type: Document Templates) and set its parameters
to what you want, then you'll have the desired default layout & structure.

Cheers
