    - Deleting macros that have been removed from the system Hi - I had installed, then uninstalled, a program (Adobe PhotoDeluxe) that was conflicting with Word 2003. Word kept asking if I wanted to save a template before closing, even though nothing was changed. After this program was removed (it had a file with a .dot extension that I think was the cause), I noticed along the top toolbar in Word that there are about ten instances of a macro that point to nowhere. They are shaded on the menu and not chooseable to delete. My question is how can I delete these Macros from the toolbar? Reinstallation of Word didn't help. Thanks very much.     - Insertion point shortcut changes after using <ctrl>+<f>!! After I've used the word finder <ctrl>+<f> I can no longer navigate using the keyboard shortcuts meant for placing the insertion point at the beginning or end of a page. The shortcuts <ctrl>+<pgdn/up> are instead changed to look for the next instance of the word I was previously looking for. It seems that the word finder is reassigning these shortcuts. Please help.     - white text-black background WITHOUT border Is it possible, using Msft word, to print a letter with a white font and a black background WITHOUT a border? I have been trying using using BORDERS & SHADING on format menu, then selecting the shading tab, and setting the paragraph to black & then selecting FORMAT menue and setting the font to white. This has succeeded in giving me a white font with a black background, but it gave me an unwanted border. Any suggestions on how to do without a border and shading just the desired text appreciated.     - Track Changes Prompt I have a group of users all using MS word with track changes - one machine when the user tries to save the doc with pending changes outstanding gets a prompt "there are pending changes in this doc would you like to continue save?" options are ok cancel and tell me more - tell me more brings up the generic word help article about track changes. Only one user out of my group has this problem, all the other users are fine. My question is how to turn off this prompt?     - Can one automatically shrink text to fit within a fixed-size table cell, text box or frame? Hello all! I hope everyone is doing well on this lovely Friday. :) I have a client who wishes me to create a form whereby there are fixed-size boxes that his users can fill in with text. Instead of the containers expanding to fit the content, he wants the content itself to "shrink to fit" automatically. For example, if his client runs out of space, he/she can continue typing and the font will reduce accordingly. I've tried experimenting with form fields, tables, text boxes and frames, and while I can get the outside border to remain static, I can't for the life of me figure out how to have the text bcome smaller if it runs over the space provided.     - create labels from letters I created a letter template and then with letter wizard, imported my database of addresses to be put in. I created the letters. I want to do labels now, but when bringing up the envelope/label wizard, it will only create one label or a label sheet with only one address. Isn't there anyway to do this at the same time? or do I have to start over and import the the addresses again and *only* do labels? isn't there a way to do the letters and labels at the same time?     - hangs Hi, I wasn't to sure where to post this. I have a user with XP Home using Office XP Pro. The problem is that after I've opened up Word I'll click on the look in box to save the document and I just hang. This is consistant every single time I go to save a doc or try to traverse to another folder and it hangs there. I've renamed the Normal.dot file, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Office, I've got all the updates for Windows and Office, I've done a repair as well. This computer is not networked so I'm not trying to go anywhere other than the C:\ drive. I've got AV and I ran Spysweeper so I think I'm ok there.     - Clicking to position the cursor at end of line I often find myself wanting to click the mouse to put the cursor at the end of the last line of a paragraph so I can continue editing there. Unfortunately, I find that when I do this, Word often selects the entire line, which I then overwrite when I start typing. Not what I want. Instead, it seems that I have to either click somewhere very close to the last character in the line or click somewhere in the line, then hit "End" to move to the end of the line. This is slower and, to me, extremely counterintuitive -- none of the other programs I use regularly behaves this way. Can somebody explain to me why Word selects the line I'm clicking to the right of and how this behavior could possibly benefit me? Also, is there any way to turn this behavior off?     - Table/Caption Confusion I wanted to create an image with a caption, so I created a table with one column and two rows, put the image in the top cell and the caption in the lower cell. At least that's what I think I did. I don't remember for sure any more, and I can't decipher what Word is showing me. (Please remember that this is a newsgroup for new users :-}) I do know that I have a table (because I can get table properties for the image, though not for the caption) and that the table has no caption (because choosing "caption..." shows no text), so I know I'm not using Word's innate caption feature for tables. What confuses me is that in web layout view, the caption appears below the image, just as I want. This is my first time working with the Table of Contents system and things were going rather well untill this last time I updated the TOC. I have been going along adding headings of topics I wanted to cover to my document as I thought of them, and adding the corrosponding link to the ToC at the same time. On my pc when I open the hyperlink Access uses MS Word to open the xml documents.     - Request for Help: Sending HTML Email, without any images embedded; details in message body First part of what I've done: I have created HTML document using Microsoft Word 2003 with a body of text and saved as .HTML format. Next, I opened the file in NotePad to add my thumbnail / images code from PhotoBucket (image host), to insert clickable thumbnails into the page. The file is saved again. First test of the file by opening in Internet Explorer 6.0 shows my code is correct; thumbnails are functional and links work as expected. Close all applications. Second part of what I've done: Now, in Explorer, I right-click my HTML file and "Open with Word 2003". My page displays, much as it did in Internet Explorer, except I can edit text and move thumbnails (if desired). I click the "Email" icon on the toolbar (Fifth icon from left) and now enter the recipient address. I click send, and off my message goes. Problem: My thumbnail images (small versions, also on the server with main images) are embedding into the message and thus bloating the message size from 10 KB (.HTML) to over 50 KB (sent message). Help: How do I prevent Word / Outlook from embedding these thumbnails into the body of the message? I want the recipient to receive a bare bones, 10 KB HTML message, whereupon the thumbnails will download into their client upon opening the message. Rant: I've tried opening the document as described above, doing cut/paste from Word, opening in Internet Explorer and doing "Send Page in Email" which just attaches a .HTML file that they would manually have to open.     - Acrobat with Word Hi, I recently installed Adobe Acrobat 7 on my Dell computer running Windows XP. I intend on converting a few of my word documents (Word 2000) into PDFs. When I tried to convert multiple files it told me I can't because my security (macros) is set to high. It told me to go to the security section and call Adobe a trusted source. I went to tools -> macro -> security -> Trusted Sources and looked for a way to do this. Whatever I'm supposed to do I can't figure it out. There is no "add" tab, only a remove. I have been using Word for awhile now and the 'blinking cursor mark' just
before where I type has always been a thin vertical line. Now its a shorter,
wider line. I know this is really a small thing, but I get distracted by it
and would like the original thin, taller line back. Can anyone give me a hand
here?

Nobody seems to know what causes this, but most users find that switching to
500% Zoom and back fixes it (at least temporarily).
