    - Disappearing Scroll Bars Folks: I am using Microsoft Word 2000. Recently I noticed the vertical scroll bars at the left of my screen disappeared. Thus there is no "button" to grab when I wish to move to different places in my WORD documents. Thus if a document is 100 pages long it becomes very difficult to jump to page 85 without having to move sequentially from one page to another. * Is there some configuration that I can set to get back my vertical scroll bars ?     - Find & Replace I have both Word 2000 and Word 2002. My question concerns how to do a search and replace. In certain kinds of documents I use an arrow from Insert | Symbols (in fact, I use it often enough that I have it assigned to a key combo). What happens is that if I copy a block of text from a document that contains the arrows, and I then paste special, the arrows are all inserted as a registered trademark symbol (®). The trademark symbol inserts ok in the Find What box, but the arrow doesn't paste into the Replace With box, and so a conventional Find and Replace apparently isn't an option.     - convert long list into a table Hi, I have a long list of words in English, and their corresponding meanings in Japanese. I'd like to convert the list to a table with the English word in one column and the corresponding Japanese word in an adjacent column. I'd formatted the words so that the English word is in one font and size, while the corresponding Japanese word is in a different font and size. There is only a single space separating the English and Japanese words. At the end of each entry is an <ENTER> (new paragraph) Is there any easy way to convert this list into a table???     - Word not closing right under Scheduler I have Scheduler pop up a file called "time.doc" at 4-hour intervals during the day. Works fine. If I am at the keyboard and close Word there is no problem. But if not, and Scheduler closes it after an hour, a "We are sorry but Word has to close" window appears and needs to be dismissed manually.     - Auto add Name & date to a document save name New here Hello I am a complete novice so please be kind :) I have created a template for a shift working handover log which will be used twice a day. the log will be for a first shift and a back shift When the Log is completed i want the document to be saved in the same way by all users eg 01-10-05 firstshift.doc or 01-10-05 backshift.doc the templete that i have created has a drop down box to select the shift and the date is added when the template is opened. is it possible for this info to be automatically put into the file name for saving ??     - Wkg on 4th Doc Said Doc9 Actually, Document9 at the task bar. I had opened only 3 new documents before working on the 4th document. Nothing else before that. This has never happened before. When I go to the top of the menu and click on Insert, then I find if I then try to click on from Attention Line to Closing or even Signature, I find I have no listing from none of them.     - How to delete a section break without affecting the header and footer and margin? Hello, I've inherited a document that has added a section break (new section starting on the next page kind of break) at the end of the document and then there is a blank page. I want to get rid of the blank page. However when I delete the last section break, the header, footer and the margin setting will all be gone. How can I get rid of the last page without losing all those sectional formatings? It seems that I need a macro that will capture all the formating before the deletion and then reapply the formating after the deletion. I have in the footer placed the necessary fields and started the numbering at 1 for the section.     - Help with paragraph formatting Hi Firstly, apologies if this in the wrong group. I am using Word 2003 and consider myself to be quite competent as I have been using Office since version 4.2. I am creating a document that is primarily to be viewed via a PC, and although it prints correctly the formatting can do strange things on screen e.g. 1) I have as a default 6pt before each paragraph, but in certain areas it appears as though this is applied to each line within the paragraph. I have revealed the formatting and compared it to paragraphs which do not display this behaviour and they are identical...except for a small square 'bullet' before affected portions when revealing the paragraph. I can find no mention of this symbol in the help file (although I may be looking in the wrong place) 2) Although the affected pages print correctly, the last few lines can disappear! If I move the cursor down (via the arrow keys) it reappears? I do have inline screen dumps using wrap tightly, but I don't think this is the cause as non-affected paragraphs also wrap around the pictures Any help in resolving this would be greatly appreciated.     - Word 2000 support and updates Like many on here, I am using Word 2000 on W98SE, which I'm very happy with. I presume that on the same lines as the W98 policy, Microsoft will eventually withdraw any support for Word 2000. What I want to do is to get now the various updates for Word 2000 (which are of coures already applied to mine) and dowload and save them as files on eg memory stick. Then if in the future I ever need to replace/reformat my hard disk, and restore from my (old) Word 2000 CDs, I can then apply the updates. I just noticed that whereas my other images (all within a frame) have anchors (when selected) that look like 4 dots at each corner and the usual ones in the middle of the sides and tops, the troublesome one has small clear circles where the black dots are on the others. Background repagination can be disabled only in Normal view.
