Can anyone tell me if this is a feature of Word 2002? If so, how to turn it
off..?
When typing the apostrophe ' or also called 'single quote' the character
does not appear immediately but waits till the next character is pressed (be
it a "space" or "letter"). If it is a space it inserts the ' where it should
be and continues with the document, if it is a character that CAN HAVE an
accent (such as é or á ) the document AUTOMATICALLY inserts the "symbol"
instead of the quote or apostrophe.
You can repeat this manually by pressing the Ctrl+' then the character...
But this is happening automatically.. I thought the Ctrl key must be stuck
but that is not the case... I have looked through all auto correct settings
and keyboard settings but can see nothing.. HELP!
It is driving me crazy trying to track down information on this.

You have enabled the US International keyboard. Change this in Start |
Settings | Control Panel | Regional Options | Input Locales.
