Hello,

Forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this message, but we have
hundreds of files with names like "~wrl343023.tmp" on our server. Aren't
these word temp files, and shouldn't they be cleaning up after themselves?

Thanks!

Jeff

Yes they should be removed. Have all users got FULL access to the folders
(including delete)? Do your users suffer from frequent crashes? Everytime a
user's PC crashed whilst a document is open, it will abandon its temp files.

As Mike and Terry have said, yes, these are Word files, and yes, they are
ordinarily removed, and if the problem is not caused by insufficient user
permissions, ISTR that the problem is called by the SMB packet signing bug
that Terry can tell you more about.

SMB Packet Signing bug is specific to Windows 2000 server with SP3 applied.
