Word in Works 2001.
I have a problem selecting sections of text to copy it. As soon as I hit the
bottom of the page, the selection speeds through to the end of the doc, and
the selection is far too large. I cannot manage to just do the bits I want. I
once downloaded a fix for this but cannot find the right text to get it again.
Frustrating me to death!

Click at one end of the desired selection. Use the slider on the vertical
scroll bar to bring the other end in view. Shift+click there.

believe that something so simple escaped my mind!!!! Only been using a
computer daily since 1982 so perhaps I will learn in the end.

Well, if you've been using Word that long, you've seen this behavior change
over time. Up through Word 6.0 or maybe 95, it was possible to select text
without runaway scrolling. It was a problem in Word 97 and 2000 that was
corrected in Word 2002 and 2003, though it still shows up in tables,
unfortunately.

But, you have to take into account that I did not get into IBM until much
later. We used RISCOS and associated programs!! It was only when schools
started using windows that programs got too expensive!!
Thanks again.

The first version of Word I actually owned (as opposed to used) was Word 2.0
for Windows, acquired in 1992. I used WordStar, XyWrite, WordPerfect, and
assorted other stuff before that (not to mention very primitive stuff back
in the sixties programming IBM mainframes), but my experience with Word is
all in Windows, so we're pretty much even on that score.
