Word will not open
I've never had a problem with Word 2000 until today. I
normally go to My Documents and click on any given word
file to open. However, today I get a warning about my
resources being dangerously low. All of the start menu
selections disappear. I have no option but to turn the
power off and restart the system. I have discovered that
I can open Word via the Microsoft Works Task Launcher and
then open the files I want in My Documents. But the other
way around (clicking on the file in My Documents first)
drains my resources. The problems also arises if I
select "Open Office Document" from the start menu. Is

Just installed Word 2003, and now Calendar Wizard won't run. I get the
following error:
"The document contains macros. Macro language support for this application
is disabled. Features requiring VBA are not available. Would you like to
open this document read-only?"
Whether I click OK or Cancel, the calendar wizard does not load.
Macro security level is set to low. Under "trusted sources" both boxes
"Trust all installed add-ins and templates" and "Trust access to VB Project"
are checked. Trusete Sources include Microsoft Corporation and Microsoft

BTW I used the calendar wizard all the time under Office 2000.

word 2000 Document replaced
I'm asking this question on behaf of someone else who is
not used to using word on a PC so some of the details
might be a bit shaky. They were in the process of copy
text from one document to another. While doing this they
lost all the text and it was replaced by another file
that was already saved in the same folder. Now they are
not able to get the old text back. I'm not sure if they
saved it but they did mention getting a message about the
clip board and they responded no to it. I'm wondering if
there is any way to recover the old text or if microsoft
word 2000 has any build in recovery points that they
could go back to or if there is any other way to recover
the text that they might have accidently deleated or
overwritting. ANy help would be greatly appreaciated.

Word 2003 crashes making bulleted list
Word 2003 crasheswhenever I try to make a bulleted or numbered list, or when

Print the Word document using the .PrintOut method( here

Close the word doc.
Delete the htm and the word doc.
I do this repeatedly in a loop.

Word 2003 Printing Malfunction?
The other day, I installed Office 2003, and all seemed to be working
fine. Till one day, I started outlook and it said there was something
wrong and kept trying to install some files. This was occuring in all
Office2K3 programs and would shut down if I cancelled the
installation.
So I shell out my MSO 2K3 cd and let it intall "SKU011.cab" file.
After that, things seemed to be back to normal. Except when I shut
down outlook, it would have it's icon in the tray and when i tried to
click it - it would say outlook is not responding.
Sooo.... I un-installed Office2K3, restarted, installed it again. Now
there's a weird problem. Whenever I open a document in Word 2K3 or

When I try to start Word I get a white rectangle which
says "the system is dangerously low on resources" and asks
me to stop something, offering me Winword to start with.
When I delete Winword it offers me the next thing and so
on. There is no way out of this and usually I just have to
press the restart button. I tried reisntalling Word (using
the Office Repair option and then "Reinstall Office").
Seems to work but doesn't do the trick- Word still won't
run. I also tried the fix in 305498 (rename possibly
corrupted files) and then reinstall Office). Again seemed
to work but no joy with Word. I then uninstalled Word. I
got a few messages in this asking me if I wanted to delete
several files - presumably because they were shared.
Didn't delete those files. Maybe they were the problem? I
also tried reinstalling Windows 98 SE. This seemed to work
until the plug and play discovery when it said it didn't
have a series (about 10) of keys of the form
enum\root\xxxxxx. I clicked OK for the msg for each key
(no other option)and the install seemed to continue, but
when it came back up after the restart it said the
registry was bad and restored a good one so I am not sure
if the W98 install took hold.

creates the document to mail but doesn't show the address

A pop-up message comes up and asks if I want to send the

Trouble printing linked-to images in Word 2002
In Word 2002 SP2 under XP Professional, I'm having

started printing empty boxes. Seems dumb to me. Tag: word 2000 crash memory could not be read Tag: 76823
Word 97 Document Protection Being Enabled
We have experienced for the last two years (but more
frequently within the last few months), a random problem
wherein documents that are either newly created or pre-
existing will suddenly enable the document protection
feature. The cursor will not move within the document
and it appears as if the document is frozen or the
application is not responding.
We have tossed this issue around and have come up with
several theories which may be responsible for the
document protection feature enabling: (1) the use of
macros either in the document or during editing sessions
in previous documents; (2) using the form feature with
macros either in the document or during an editing
session in a previous document; (3) use of a series of
unknown shortcut keys; (4) accessing documents from
outside the firm that attach this feature to any new or
existing in-house documents.
We are using iManage, Office XP and Word 97. Our
resolution is to have the user within that document
select Tools/Unprotect Document.
We will continue to investigate this issue but would
appreciate any assistance you can give us, as we have
seen an increase in this problem with all of our users. Tag: word 2000 crash memory could not be read Tag: 76819

long saves and rather unstable
Hi all,
I was asked recently to edit a word 2002 document. It is
about 40 pages long and has some pictures as well as some
tables. It turnes out that it takes quit long when saving
the document (1 minute and more), and, it is rather
unstable (one day it stopped responding every 10 minutes).
I'm very surprised with this behaviour, considered the
computer I'm running word on. It is an IBM ThinkPad
portable with a 2 GHZ processor and 512 MB of RAM (new
since november). I have turned off allmost every option,
but it doesn't improve the performance, but I have noticed
that my virus scanner possible plays a role in the whole
thing. I have a Norton Antivirus 2004 scanner who
apparently scans the document all the time. Is there
someone who also has this scanner and doesn't have any
problems. I'm really annoyed with this problem and hope
that it can be solved in the near future.
So, any remarks are welcome....
Thanks in advance

Page View buttons don't work for specific user(s)
Hi - I have Word 2000 loaded on my W2K machine and I've noticed and
interesting behavior in the application.
When I'm using Word on my login, the Page View buttons at the bottom
left of the screen are active - clicking on each one changes the page
view, as it should.
However, when we use Word on my wife's login, the buttons don't work.
They're still there, but clicking on them does nothing - the buttons
don't even "depress" to acknowledge the click. Changing the page view
