When I print them the circle is displaced to the left of the integral sign rather than centred on it.     - Word 2000 "restore down" off the screen I have Win xp. My Office suite is Office 2000. I am operating two screens a 17" Sony and a 15" KDS. When I restore down a document down to a smaller window, it disapears to the upper right corner of the screen. I cannot see it at all. When I right click in the toolbar, I can maximize it, I cannot move or size it. The curser goes top the upper right portion of the screen and assumes the four points mode, when I click, the four points mode is replaced by the cursor arrow. I use word with my Outlook emailer and the same thing occurs when I am full screen and I hit the 'Reply','Forward' and 'Reply to all' icons. The forwarded letter disappears off screen and the only way to work with it is in the full screen mode.     - Have to kill hidden instance of Word before I can open it I found recently in attempting to start Word that I could not get it to launch. I then brought up Task Manager and found an instance of Winword.exe running even though there was no splash screen or other visible sign that it was running. I was able to kill the task which then allowed me to start it. I also found that in some cases closing open IE windows allowed me to start Word after an unsuccessful prior attempt.     - Printed document does not match Word version When I print my document the printed version starts to diverge from the version I see in Print View in Word. Around page 19 two different printers start printing a few more lines per page than the page shows in Word. Eventually, the printed version is on a completely different page than the Word version. It takes around 15 seconds to open a document based on the template/open the template. This occurs if the tempalte is saved locally or remotely so thats not the issue. We've tried Tools, Options, View and unchecked the Startup Task Pane box, but when you restart Word, the damnable Startup Task pane CONTINUES to open, even though the checkbox in Tools, Options REMAINS unchecked! It is a befuddlement. We've tried detect and repair, we've uninstalled and reinstalled the application, all to no avail. This problem is specific to this user - logging in as administrator, turning off the option in Tools, Options keeps the Startup Task Pane from opening when Word is launched. However the othe rprogrammes on windows xp work well, and do not do this.

What version of Office is this? A few versions back, Outlook's Journal
feature could cause the kind(s) of slowdown you're seeing. In Outlook's
menu, Tools - Options - Journal Options lets you control whether Outlook
will keep track of editing Office documents. It can slow Office down
considerably, and should be turned off unless you actually rely on that
feature.

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop,
left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped
drives that are not currently available.
